It was the least fun experience playing The Show I've had in a long time. This isn't a brag post, I'm just sharing my experience and my thoughts about a WS run. Its a lot of rambling so feel free to not read it

I'm a competitive person by nature. Ranked seasons is how I fill my need for competition in my life, especially with COVID-19 and not being able to do anything else. Sadly, ranked seasons has turned into the opposite of competitive. It is nothing but a series of random outcomes where your input as a user hardly matters at all.

Almost every game there was something that made me want to throw my PS4 out the window, whether it be good/okays, or multiple perfect/perfect outs, or my pitches going wherever they want to, or my fielders forgetting how to pick up a baseball. Because of all this, I could only manage to play 2 or 3 games a day for most of the season. There were more days where I didn't play then days I played.

I had been sitting at ~850 and needed to get over the hump, partially because I wanted Britton, and partially to fulfill my competitive desire and finish what I started. So I sat down and grinded it out until I finally got there. In one game, I had about 4 good/squared outs and one perfect/perfect out, while my opponent had 3 total hits, one of which was an early/good home run. I ended up losing that one on a late/squared screamer down the line.

In the game where I made WS, I had 4 runs, only 2 of which were deserved, and my opponent had about 6 instances of hard hit [censored] going directly to fielders. I can say without a doubt that I didn't deserve that win, or at the least it shouldn't have been a 4-1 game. When I win I want it to feel deserved, and therein lies the problem.

I don't think I'm going to even bother with RS this season. I have no motivation to improve my skills, because what's the point? It was more of a headache than anything battling with RNGesus to make WS this time around. And even when I made it there, I didn't feel it was deserved. It truly is sad to see that what was once a fairly competitive game has devolved into a button clicking simulation where no skill is required to succeed.

Congrats man. Enjoy it. I can't deal with the bs so i don't even care about my rating anymore but you put up with it so good for you.

I'm not great but have a decent record of 40-10 in RS. RS is just in a miserable state, so OP I hear you. I don't square up the ball all game long but I am very confident my good/goods were much more frequent than some recent opponents. You do not get rewarded consistently unless it's perfect/perfect. Really not enjoying the current state of the game.

Or sometimes referred to as over powered for in game mechanics that are more effective than they should be. For example: the sinker.
