No you gotta win game 12 with that new card in the pack. You can go 11-0 and wait till the new card drops then win game 12 and open the pack with the new card available.

Yeah if you are currently 11-0, I would wait with the 12-0 game until the update is live. Did this several times last year, works like a charm.
