I'm missing it too. I think I did see something in there that said throwing options were already set to buttons. It's not though. Seems odd to have me pick out a preference if it's just gonna set it to whatever it wants to anyway.

Can you not change your fielding options/controls in Road To The Show? I had my setting where I want them, and fired up a RTTS game, made a pretty sweet diving play... and then...apparently the throwing style just defaulted to something else, and I couldn't even get the ball thrown. Made my guy look like a doofus.
Haven't been able to figure out how to change it to my preference yet.
Not a fan of this.

What I want in the game/back in the game is:
My player's last name, WIlder, back on the call list. I really need that one. Wouldn't mind some new hair styles as well. And tattoos.
It'd be cool to have the Topps prospect games back. Not sure why, but I always thought they helped in the experience.
The social media aspect in Road To The Show. I always loved having both devoted fanboys and haters. I miss that.
It'd be cool to be able to take batting practice with my ballplayer, easily, from the main menu. Being able to take BP with your Diamond Dynasty team would be pretty cool too.

I've had this or something like it pop up a time or two in my current game. My player actually pitched two games in a row, twice. Once in the minors and then much later on, once again in the majors. Just the other night, the reverse happened. German Marquez was the starting pitcher and my dude was the DH, in line to pitch the next game. Next game came up, and it was Marquez pitching again, and my player in his normal position as shortstop.
Definitely something I'd like to see fixed.

Most of my opponents seem to do all right,

My player was called up April 8th, 2023, joining the Cubs for an away game against the Nationals. In his first outing, he was the DH. Hit a single off the very first pitch he saw as a major leaguer, so there is that. Went 1-4 for the day, (with the last at bat, he actually reached first, but it was on a defensive error, so he wasn't credited with a hit there).
Second game was his first start on the mound. Went 5 innings, nervous as all get out. Racked up 5 strikeouts, (including one on the tremendous home run threat Juan Soto, whom he was.... mildly concerned about facing), No walks, and he ended up picking up the all important win here, so his career is hopefully off to a good start.
Currently rated 76, with that Diamond Archetype something like 20 points away. Shouldn't take long to get that, I hope, and I've promised my dude that when we do get there, I'll add a 5th pitch to his arsenal, so that's something to look forward to. He already has Control Artist and Grounded listed among his quirks, so that's something.

Is this in Mini Seasons? I walked three times in a Ranked Seasons game the other day, on All Star, but I don't think I got this. I did find the Topps International Trading Card Day Pack thing, but I'm pretty sure that's some other thing.
I haven't done anything with mini seasons lately though.

You can re-create him, if you want. It's what I did, I've had the same player in all the MLB The Shows I've played. But I'm pretty sure you can't continue from a Show 21 game, sadly. I don't think so, anyway.

Ok, so given my recent entry into the wonderful world of Ranked Seasons... which I honestly don't know whether to describe as a success or a failure... I created my player with the twin goals of A) improving my skills as much as possible against the higher difficulty levels, and B) having my player evolve to be as good as he could possibly be... while still producing numbers that an actual, honest to goodness human being could possibly produce.
I figured the higher difficulties, (generally, as high as I could get them without having a stroke... so All Star for batting and Hall of Fame for pitching). High for me, and believe me, the one thing I DID NOT want out of this was to hit something like 200 home runs in a season.
So far... doesn't seem like that's gonna be a problem.
My player is a Painting Sparkplug, who's just about to finish out his silver archetype, (he has 89 points toward the needed 100 at this posting), and has now been playing at the Triple A level for a total of 14 games. Right now, with 47 At Bats, he's batting .362, with 17 hits, (6 doubles), 3 RBI, and 1 Stolen Base, (0 times caught stealing so far). One the mound, 1-2, with a 5.06 ERA with 9 strike outs...
So, he still has work to do.
I've actually considered dropping the pitching difficulty down to All Star too, as... I'm clearly having my challenges. But I do like the fact that my player is playing like the 18 year old kid that he is supposed to be, rather than SuperBoy in cleats.
He's a Shortstop and a Starting Pitcher, and it's the first week of August, 2022.
No idea when he may make the jump to the majors, (he's rated 67 just now), but honestly, I'm kind of hoping to finish out the year in Triple A before making the big move to the big time.
Oh, and.... erm... I pulled some strings, and helped my guy be drafted by the Cubs. Normally, I'd go with the underdog option, rather than pick out a specific team, but I thought this time... why not?
Just played the next game up, at short. Went 2-4 with a single and a double, and (I think) 2 RBI. I know I got at least 1 on the single, (none on the double, as the bases were empty), and then another on my 5th at bat of the game, when I came up with the bases loaded... and was walked on 4 pitches.
-
I like him. But then, I didn't really spend that much. I got pretty lucky with the Takashi cards - picked out Mickey as my pre-order bonus, bought Randy Johnson like day one, got Ozzie Smith as soon as I possibly could, there was a program, and then, before I knew it, I only needed one more for the prize. I've hit a few home runs with him so far, and though I very much STINK at the plate, he usually does good things for me.
-
Haven't really developed any theories as it relates to Diamond Dynasty just yet, but as far as Road To The Show goes, it seems like if my guy comes to the plate with the bases loaded, you can bet your boots he'll either SMASH a double to clear the bases, or he'll ground into a double play. Seems like those are the only two possible outcomes.

Just got that one win I needed, and it looks like I have officially been bumped up to All Star. Yikes. In other news, that 97 Babe Ruth was WELL worth both the wait and the effort. 4-4 with a home run, and he ended up a triple shy of the cycle.
8-17 is my record. Like I said, I'm new to all this, and not all that great.
Working on it though.
And I HAVE GOT to do something about my pitching staff.
-
Honestly... I'm pretty sure I'm... not all that great. In my defense, I am pretty much BRAND NEW to the whole playing online thing. I have wanted to play online for a couple of years now... but for whatever reason, I just couldn't bring myself to actually do it. At least, until recently. I think I did reasonably OK while I was in the Spring Training division. After I picked up a few wins, and bumped up to Regular Season though, the fact that I'd let myself get good and comfortable playing RTTS at Veteran has kind of caught up with me, and I have had me some troubles at the plate.
And now that I'm like one win away from being bumped up to All Star, (really, I'm right THERE on the cusp)... I have a feeling that situation is only gonna get worse.
Maybe it's for the best that one win has been slow in coming.
My own fault. I've spent so much time playing at Veteran because it's challenging enough... but I can still be great, and therefore it stayed fun for me. Plus, like I said, I never really played online, so I didn't think it mattered what I did.
But now that I have found my way into ranked seasons... that's all changed. So I guess my big goal now is to try and get better.

I've got the leg guards and the legends icon.

I was just disconnected when I came up to bat in the bottom of the 1st, in a Ranked Seasons game. My opponent had put up two runs in the top of the inning, and then it disconnected with my very first batter in the batter's box, (I knew something was wrong when my PCI wouldn't move). I was scared my opponent would think I had quit. I didn't.
-
I had thought it might be, but I wasn't sure.
-
It is good advice. The XP does seem to be well worth the effort.
Lately I've been playing for the XP more than anything else. I noticed that playing all the way through these games - win, lose, or draw - was giving me what seemed to be A WHOLE LOT of the stuff. It's helped out a lot with this Summer program.
-
Threw me for a loop when my player's last name was gone too. I've used the same player for like 4 Shows, and had gotten used to the announcers talking about him by name. Created him anyway, and, as it turns out, his being referred to as Number 20 doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Hope it's back in for next year though, or if at all possible later in this game.
-
I went in and made my guy anyway. The announcers calling him Number 20 doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
Did have a few more odd experiences with the commentary though. This time, it was my player they were talking about making his major league debut.... even though it was a minor league game, and his 3rd start on the hill.
Another time, in Mini-Seasons, (which does seem fixed now, from what I can tell), they questioned the wisdom of my leaving starter Fernando Valenzuela in, rather than going to the bullpen, and wondered how he'd be able to work out of this jam. Pitchers tire quickly in Mini Seasons, and I did have some arms in the bullpen, but this jam they were talking about... was a 1-2 count on the leadoff batter in the second inning. Didn't feel like that big of a deal to me.
-
I did get the announcers talking about the other team's pitcher, "making his major league debut", and something about what he used to do in the minors, a couple of times last night. Bear in mind that my player is currently still in Double A, and this pitcher was making his major league debut for the Hartford Yard Goats.
I'm not really all that bothered by the commentary, one way or the other, but the fact that my player's last name is no longer in the audio list really threw me off my game. I created a new guy, and I like him, but it feels so wrong not playing with the character I've had for years at this point that I'm just gonna break down and make him anyway, and just deal with him being referred to as Number 20.
