@Collin_SDS In order to head off the next hundred angry posts from customers, can we get confirmation whether gameplay (not visual) updates are done for the year? If the team is already 100% moved on to 21' it would be good to know. Otherwise there will be a lot of needless speculation and arguing here that benefits no one.

@get-peened said in Thoughts on New Patch; XP grinding:
First of all, the game really isn’t bad. I haven’t had any horrible experiences with fielding since the last patch. Yeah, hitting may need some tweaking, but overall it’s not bad. Sure, the pitching is hard to control but how would it feel if every single player you faced could dot sinkers on the corner every pitch? Hanging pitches happens, get over it.
The only thing I really don’t like is the loss of double points on MTO, which kills any motivation to play the mode. For me, the 6 hours minimum for around 50 team affinity points is just not enjoyable. It really doesn’t compete with showdown.
I already know that a lot of people will complain about homerun derby xp getting reduced. I don’t even know anyone that was willing to sit on homerun derby for 5+ hours a day just for xp. Although it takes no skill, I would like to congratulate those who have sat through some mind numbing hr derby sessions.
They also reduced the xp in retro mode, who knows by how much yet, because you could simply afk it as the computer walks you and get 15 levels overnight. This was definitely being exploited as some of the rosters in the vault had over 1000 downloads. I’m happy this is getting fixed.
Overall, I’m actually excited to see how many people will sit here and complain about how it’s gonna be iMpoSsIbLe tO gEt xP. The xp reward path wasn’t made to be completed in 2 months. If you want xp, play the game regularly or play showdown like the rest of us. If retro mode didn’t get patched, it would’ve been so interesting to see what teams would look like in the future. Eric Thames, J-Ram and prestige Sandberg everywhere!
I agree with most of this, I appreciate the rational approach. This game is incredibly addictive to baseball lovers, and even though it has a few gameplay flaws I’m glad it exists.
Have to disagree with your position on hangers, or at least clarify what my problem with them is. Hangers are part of baseball... they have to exist in game. In past years, they worked pretty much the way they do in real life, you aim at something, screw up, and miss your target. Sometimes you get crazy break that you didn’t expect. Sometimes you just have a bad grip, the thing pops off your hand and floats in. But what DOES NOT happen is that when you make an execution mistake a gravity vortex opens up and magnetizes the ball to middle/middle. The entire game is an illusion. We are not playing baseball, we are moving dots through x/y axi and timing button presses. The art comes in tricking us into feeling like it’s baseball in some visceral way. It’s extremely artificial and shatters the illusion that you are throwing a ball... and that diminishes enjoyability.

I don’t think I will. Even though I’m addicted.
Something changed with this last patch. Not directly because of the patch quality, but just all the changes in general that I am slow to adjust to. I am so screwed up now that nothing is very enjoyable. Hits and whiffs both surprise me, which is weird. I say “what? How? ... what?” Out loud to myself far too often. The swing feedback doesn’t seem to match what’s happening at the controller.
I used to be a good pitcher but this year I feel like a spectator with little control of placement and a tiny squeezed down strike zone. I’m slowly climbing above 4 era, which is embarrassing. I put a lot of time into the game but i think I’m drifting away.
The content is cool, I’ll probably peek in here or there. But Borderlands 3 is enjoyable and doesn’t make me feel this anxiety, so I’ll probably be there more.
This isn’t a farewell post, don’t bother with dumb comments. I’m directly answering OP.

I must have put 1000 hours into baseball stars. One of the first games to track season stats. Winning games and upgrading your players stats was addictive, and I play the show all these years later for many of the same reasons. Beating the Lovely Ladies 500 times to earn upgrade points is the clear spiritual ancestor of Conquest mode.
Look out for the World Powers tho!

@Agent00Cage I think you are forgetting something. When you get a reward after a game or moment, it let’s you quicksell or post a sell order on the market right there in the screen. But it doesn’t Tell you the current market price. So a lot of people just pick a random number higher than the sell now price to save time. You are seeing at least some of those orders and thinking they are undercutting you. They are not, they don’t even know what your price was.

Man it would be awesome to get a Flashback for some more recent Giants players. Ya know from those players that won 3 world series so close together... without even having to bang on a f'n trash can. Or would that make too much sense for the year 2020 where nothing makes sense at all?
I’ve been waiting for a 99 Linecum with 150 break

I’m not sure exactly what the poll is about from reading the title, so instead I’ll just mention the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen live. 1992 at Candlestick. Bill Swift had come to Giants from the Mariners and he was grinding the NL to powder with his heavy gravity sinker. He was 5-0 already. The filthy Dodgers were in town, with Darryl Strawberry in tow. As an aside, a lot of people forget how much raw talent Straw had before he became a tragic character.
I’m sitting in the right field second deck Outfield loge seats, row 1. We are pretty high in the air. Swift throws a sinker but leaves it high. High sinkers, as everyone knows, lose their break and become bad fastballs.
Straw uncorks his whiplash swing and tunes up the flat sinker. There’s a crack like a rifle shot. Even though we are in second deck, people start standing up because it looks like it might make it up to us.
The ball is behaving oddly. Instead of traveling in an arc, it’s just going up... and up.
And over our heads. Midway up the Third deck. It didn’t even seem real. Straw was so far away he looked like an ant rounding the bases.
Moral of the story:
HIGH SINKERS DONT BREAK SIDEWAYS AND HUMILIATE HITTERS. THEY FLATTEN OUT AND GET SMOKED!(Also saw the giants win two WS games against KC)

As much as I hate his guys, statistically speaking, the answer is Barry Bonds, both as a Pirate and a Giant.
Ignoring Bonds, I would say Ken Griffey Jr., but by the time he got to Cincinnati, he was a shell of his former self. I may have to go with Tony Gwynn, at least in the early 90s he was still great. Saw Glavine and Smoltz, but never got to see Maddux or the big unit live.
Best game I went to, well most memorable, I was at the brawl between the Reds and Cardinals, where Molina and Phillips had words at the plate right in the bottom of the first, Cueto kicked LaRue I believe. Quite a nasty site as bad as anything I have ever seen at a hockey game.
Shoot. I forgot about Barry. I sat in the right field seats on opening day at dodger stadium one year and the guy must have hit the ball a good 20 rows behind me. It was unbelievable.
Such a shame. As much as I dislike him, Barry was great before ever touching a needle. The talent was unquestionable. But the jealousy bug got him, he just couldn’t stand seeing players he considered inferior surpassing him (McGwire). That season where he hit .370 and a ton of home runs was amazing, not for the counting stats but because he walked almost every at bat, rarely swung, but when he did it was “perfect/perfect”. That isn’t just roids.
.370 46 hr 110 rbi. 47 strikeouts. 198 BB!!!

sorry , i thought the community was for newbies like my self. and I do not even understand what you are saying about prestige 5.
Just started playing due to what is happening in the world. I haven't played video games in like 20 years.
Congrats on being so well versed and such an expert that my question amused you.Just like in the real world, there are nice helpful people here and useless d-bags here. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
This might help get you going:

I expected to hate it, but Mr. 3000 was actually pretty good. The Natural is the best pure baseball movie. I enjoyed Moneyball (and book) but there isn't much onfield action.

if we are going way back lets go Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run on SNES
Way back is Colecovision, son. SNES is like “the new thing”.

My CAP is always Ramone Russell. I am banking on the slim probability that it is an undiscovered cheat code.
Also, there are only a few decent switch hitting catchers and Mickey Tettleton should really not be hitting over .300. So it has to be a made up player.

You will want low input lag, primarily. If the monitor is only being used for a standard PS4, theres no reason to overpay for high refresh rates or fetures like gsync capability. PS4 only supports 60hz refresh rate. (note that ps5 will have dramtically improved video specs, and will require more out of monitors).
It is worth noting that good gaming monitors are often stripped down and CHEAPER than other monitors. Don't be tricked into overpaying. High end monitors sometimes add a lot of image processing, use slower/prettier screen materials and you end up with worse input lag at a much higher price. For fighting games, I use a $120 BenQ and it crushes my $600 computer monitor.
BenQ often have great low input lag options, and it would be good to stick at 1ms. This topic is very, very complicated but there's no value to go all the way down the rabbit hole if you aren't a gear geek. Instead, I can just say that I got this for about 250 on amazon, and I'm happy:

Captcha is maintaining a state in your browser that you are a real human. It verifies this by making you match images, which it is hard for AI to do still (not really, but...).
It would be a hassle to to do this every time, so ReCaptcha let's you keep making transactions as long as the state is maintained. Occasionally, it goes wrong and you get this error. But you are not breaking any rules by clicking more than once.

This is right! I noticed the PCI doesn't go to the edges of the zone this year, but also the ump won't call anything borderline a strike. Everything is squeezed down a few inches too far. When you catch a guy off guard with a pitch thats 3/4 inch outside on 2-2 count, a real ump is gonna ring him up most of the time.

@Bunyan236 said in quick sell:
Do you get 10% taxed for quick selling diamonds and so forth. I'm mainly talking about diamond looking at cards like Trout where after putting a sell order, your making less than the sell now.
Thanks
There is no tax on Quick Sell. You get exactly the amount listed. This goes a long way in setting the price thresholds you commonly see in community market. No matter how bad a gold card is, it's worth quicksell price+10% minimum.
Players
25 - Bronze
100 - Silver
1000 - Gold
5000 - Diamond
Equipment
10 - Bronze
25 - Silver
100 - Gold
1000 - Diamond

@abbyspapa 's point is a good one. As good as Rollie's stats are, he is more deceptive than overpowering. Watch the better's behavior, and see which pitches they are getting consistent bad timing on, and increase their frequency until they start zoning in, then switch it up. Suddenly the pitch (like a sinker) they were lining up will explode on them they way you want them too.

Sorry man. Remember a lot of the people playing are 12 year old brats. Just ignore it.
The easiest way to avoid this problem is to set messages to private, so messages from unknown users won’t be received at all.
– On the PS4, just navigate to Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings > Personal Info/Messaging, and set Messages to either “friends only” or “no one.”
– This change can also be made on the web from Sony’s website, just login using a PSN account.
