You can argue fhat learning the timing of the hitters bat is almost exactly the same Or that some hitters are easier with one and vice versa. They are both skill based hitting interfaces
no doubt but one does require more focus and skill simply because of the added elements of having to learn their stride because both interfaces still require the timing of the hitter's bat or swing.
BUT I am not saying those who use zone plus analog (ZPA) have more skill but in order to produce good results more skill and experience is required.
most if not all people will be better with buttons and I guarantee any top player would not produce the same results using ZPA but would likely still be a top player.
ZPA isn't like using directional because Directional takes away control and adds in randomness where as ZPA adds in more control and gives the user less room for error.
manual vs auto. directional is basically taking an UBER.

Yeah here's my image of MLB 21 becoming the best Show ever. Take out DD and online stuff, only Franchise...make the game more of a simulation instead of gimmicks like Perfect/Perfect. Put in Stride timing so it simulates a full follow through like actually swinging a bat, instead of aiming with a target and pressing X like playing a baseball game in the mid 90s. Take out the silly nooby instant homerun cam, I hate that S*^%. Add in about 10 more minor leagues and spring training stadiums. Make it default Legend hitting with pitch speeds at 10 so casual noobs are forced to get better. And put it on PC!!!
gotta have lower difficulties my friend, learning to hit at that level takes practice/experience.
people wouldn't actually learn to hit if forced to play at high difficulties because they'd never learn the basics.
but i agree with stride analog. if people want a true skill based baseball game than that's really the way to play but it's never gonna happen.
If you only do stride it takes away from user skill and adds too much RNG. That would be more of a simulation style game. If I had to learn stride plus analog I’d accept that as skill based — but not having to place the bat on the ball is too random. Because then we are basing everything off just timing and then from there where do you go? It has to go random.
Stride and directional are very similar interfaces
As are stride plus analog and zone.
LOL. this drives me nuts. no offense to you but I am talking about zone plus analog with the stride.
That is: you still have to place your PCI on the ball with the left stick while using the stride with the right analog stick. It's the most skill based hitting interface which hardly anyone uses.I just said it’s skill based. Regular stride isn’t. Regular stride is as skill based as directional
I find pure analog slightly easier to not jam pci a certain way so that’s cool. I just prefer zone
YOU ACTUALLY DON'T GET IT. this is unbelievable.
zone plus analog is when you use the left stick. THE LEFT STICK as your PCI.
You use the Right Stick. RIGHT stick as the stride and swing.
YOU USE BOTH SIMULTANEOUSLY.
It's the most skill based hitting interface the game offers but no one uses it because no one even knows it exists as proven by your posts.
i'm shocked. i truly am.
I know exactly what it is. It’s not “the most skill based hitting” it’s the same as ZONE except instea of a button you use a stride how it it different as far as skill set? Why are you assuming it’s more skillful to stride analog then to press buttons?
How is it not?
It's an added element where you have to learn the stride of each hitter which varies depending on the pitcher.
you also need to be able to adapt your stride to a quick pitch.
its absolutely the most skill based hitting interface.
BUT no one uses it online.

It has been clarified by a dev on the forum here that everybody can play everybody. The FAQ answer was worded in a confusing way.
Haha that's funny because I was going to refer to a post on OS and I'm realizing you made that post and have since corrected that OP.

I use to cut tiny little little circles of grip tape(skateboard) and super glue them on to my controller sticks. it works really well but you have to redo it after awhile which can be a bit of a nuisance if you don't .
i found no point in doing that this year since pitching is random and the ball just floats down the middle anyway. but i do this for all games i play including NFL 2k5.
usually if you trace a dime and cut that out it fits perfectly on to the controller and then get some nail clippers and clip any harsh hanging edges so it fits inside the ridges of the rubber...
i've tried control freeks but they always fall off

my first year i got the game only about a month after but last year i got the game two months after. both years i was unable to hit with LS collections. not one of them was worth it for me. i wasted a lot of time collecting LS cards i couldn't use just to collect a Mickey Mantle I couldn't hit above 260 with.
this year im just gonna flip and go for cards i know im good with and hopefully i get all the cards i like. not gonna waste my time with collections unless it's Hank Aaron.

streamers are conceited, for the most part.
the constant ****-sucking of other streamers/youtubers (clout chasers).
the phony 'hey man thanks for the follow, you de real hero!"
complaining when they lose (OhChev was nearly crying last week)
NOW, there are some decent streamers but I find most of them just generally look down upon their opponents (if they don't know them)
they also all stream the same type of content.
zone button hitting shippet park with some variance of a team build on DD or their BR runs.

this is hilarious.

I love the youtube description. I got no respect for people who home hunt or play at Shippett. So many guys are afraid to lose or have an authentic baseball experience.
Oh please. Thousands of us play at Shippett, get over it. It's not because we're afraid to lose anywhere else I can guarantee you that. I can also guarantee you nobody cares all that much about gaining your respect based on the ballpark we decide to play at.
Yes thousands of you play at Shippett, meaning too many of you care about 'being rewarded' for your input, including poor contact. Again, you will trade video game reward highs for an authentic baseball experience.
The irony is that many of you complain as well(maybe not you) that skill is not rewarded but yet you refuse to use intuitive skill based hitting mechanics such as 'zone analog stride' which would truly set you apart. Instead most people use buttons where the batter's stride is perfectly timed to every pitch and if you have a keen enough eye you will notice your batter steps forward quicker on fastballs. It's very unrealistic. It's things like these that need to be fixed in order to create a true baseball experience. Maybe even a button stride, whatever, but too many of you follow the herd mentality. It's sickening.
I also don't care if you don't care. I sold my ps4 and the game 4 months ago.

I left over 3 months ago. haven't come back.
one of my biggest personal issues with the game was zone analog hitting with stride is too hard with balks off. not really a fan of button hitting either.i don't mind juiced cards but something about the game just feels off. so many try hards, every other game is at shippett. people will sacrifice every thing that gives them a true authentic baseball experience just to win.
i asked a twitch streamer (top 10 lifetime player) to try a game using zone with stride and they all say the same thing "that's a horrible idea" . they are so afraid to lose or look human.
i think it's a great feature on SDS part and it just gets no respect. you can't time you stride when pitchers are balking.
IMO SDS has lost it's authenticity. it used to be the little things they'd brag about but now it's the little things that make this game mediocre. Madden is [censored]. NHL is [censored]. Fifa is okay but sketchy. NBA 2k is in depth but the players move funny and I hate basketball. MLB has declined since 11' and since all these other team sports titles have such low standards they almost make THe Show look great.
like someone said before they've abandoned their hardcore audience. MLB the show was the only reason I had a video game system.

only true way to get more variety in online games would be to force people to use zone plus analog with stride hitting. a lot more strikeouts and badly timed strides resulting in odd looking swings and hits.
never gonna happen.
No wonder I can't hit for nothing online. I use zone analog and stride. I may need to change but hitting with buttons feel unnatural to me.
if you can find a good league with balks on you should be fine. they need to turn balks on to even the playing field for stride players. it's not fair.
I love zone analog stride hitting so I am going to keep battling with it. It's tough for me though.
me too. i am getting an xbox because i think the controller is more comfortable and the left stick is higher up. but yeah DD is very hard with stride analog. i got as far as championship this year but after that guys are constantly balking and quick pitching it's just too hard to stay balanced.

Frankly, I find watching Twitch to be pretty boring. There is one streamer, which I won’t name, that is so toxic I find it to be absolutely captivating. Guy doesn’t get a lot of viewers, maybe like 10-15 when I’m watching but I guarantee you’ve prob seen his channel. It’s pure entertainment to listen to the complaints, calling the opposing player names, and the sheer antics that go on during this stream. It’s truly a highlight of my day.
I think i know who you are talking about. love watching this dude.
"****ing center swinger!" and " I cannot take a ****ing pitch right now dude, i cannot take a ****ing pitch right now. "game goes into extras, he is away team, ball goes into no mans land, a man is on. his opponent bunts and he tries to throw to 2nd. safe. he walks the next guy to load the bases. QUITS game and proceeds to think "I'm not giving you the ****ing benefit of the doubt. NOPE. not gonna let you have this one" and smiles
