Kind of kills my enthusiasm for this game. It just feels more compelling when it is coupled with the real life performances. Rating increases, (especially being a White Sox fan with all the rising talent) playing a particular days real life matchup in play now, inside edge mimicking the real life advantages of certain matchups in real time, and just the overall nostalgia of baseball driving the passion to play the show. This is a pretty darn good game too. I just wish I would have waited until actual baseball resumed to purchase.

I've always wondered why the strike zone was made where you have to have at least half the baseball cross the corner to be a strike. The default should be that if the ball clips the corner at all it's a strike. You know? Like real life. Also an increase in pitch speed would have solved the home run problem! They blame the hitting although it was the best it's ever been. Pitching was the culprit

Jose abreu. He is an 81 now, leads all first baseman in defensive metrics, and has been tearing the cover off of the ball.

This is from last year, I think it’s safe to say fielding in the 50s-60s isn’t accurate.
I don’t want watch the white Sox much but I imagine he’s not fumbling grounders and botching double plays routinely. He’s an 80 overall and at 1.1k. That’s a sin the way he’s playing this year.. but a great investment.Edit: 2 seconds later I read a piece how he can struggle with routine plays sometimes.. lol. Still 50s seems disrespectful.
Really most of his defensive miscues are air mailed throws. His fielding should be around 75. Arm 90. Accuracy about 45. boots a few balls, but also makes spectacular plays with the glove

For those saying "live series cards dont affect diamond dynasty lineups" They do when the inside edge is favorable. Also Kyle Lewis going gold would be nice for those of us who play online ranked.
Eh, they really don't even with inside edge, really the only thing it affects is Battle Royale.
Ranked Online
That's not DD lineups, that's live rosters
I'm saying that's another place it matters as stated in my original post
I realize you also said online ranked, but my comment was specifically about DD. I probably should have clarified that a bit in my 1st comment, but that's what I was referencing. LS don't factor into DD at this stage except for BR
What is the fuqin point of this argument? Who cares
Whoa. Easy there killer
. This is not an argument. This is two civilized people gaining clarity on one anothers opinion. Your anger is misplaced.

The "Next Gen" improvements are basically non existent. What a let down. Especially graphically.

New audio based upon contact type really adds to the immersion. Love the crack of the bat when squaring up as it sounded so dull in previous years. Also the new camera cuts and angles. These in addition to your hitting skill being rewarded (PRE PATCH) really made this game fun to play. All the have to do is revert the hitting back to day one, create the same pitch speed on all difficulties with a shrinking pci as difficulty goes up, and reward good input on pitching. Game would be absolutely lit

A) Is it the same hitting engine as in DD?
B) Are you able to use the custom sliders since it’s offline
C) Do you get a normal allotment of program stars, XP and stubs per game?A. No. Offline is completely different than online every year
B. No you are not
C. I don't believe you get program stars, but yes to stubs and xp -
You can tell they nerfed the contact/power by the sound of the bat. I've squared up a lot of balls in the couple games I've played since the patch that gave off that "weak" contact sound. This is definitely indicative of RNG. I've also not squared up a few balls and hit no doubt home runs. It's not up to our user input anymore. My only thought is that redoing the pitching must be wayyy harder than just reducing contact and power. Thus instead of making pitch speeds universal, and make the meters accurate, they nerf hitting to combat the extremely high scoring games.
-
User input barely matters in this game. I've had a Perfect Perfect swing on a 101 mph fastball from Chapman, near the top of the zone, with Sig Series Paul Konerko and it had an exit Velo of 90 something that died in centerfield. In real life, no matter the power they have (we're talking grown major league ball players), a ball thrown that hard and squared will have high exit velo. Period. there is no defense.
Also in the real MLB, players who dont have light tower power that square a pitch perfectly routinely go above 110 exit velo. You can hardly do that with HRD Stanton on this game

Its a 3 year average and that play was 3 years ago. Find a more recent example lmao
This is a joke right? Because 3 years ago he was 24, and hasn't lost any arm strength. If anything, it has gotten stronger

If they ever put Shawon Duston in the game, he should have a 125 arm strength. I'm a reds fan but that dude had a flat out cannon for an arm.
Or a Jose Guillen. I really feel like they should implement a statcast outfielder throw velocity highlight. Would force them to make the arm strength more accurate
-
The records, as well as the stats have been wrong every day the past few years. When will this be fixed? Never? It would add so much to immersion during the games broadcast.

Huge White Sox fan just wondering , has anyone ever hit a home run with Tim and initiated this animation? I remember it being a big part of the trailer, but have yet to get him to do this.

No, but now I want to get the animation with Contreras.
That thing was awesome!
I agree

This games does not look Next Gen at all. 2K rebuilt their game from the ground up for Next Gen. I'd much rather have the improved textures than cross play. 4K 60 fps can already be achieved on The Show 20 when played on PS5. From the videos, the water still doesn't even look like water and I would guess it doesn't splash like water either. Nor do the dirt or grass appear life-like. Hair is terrible. Copy and paste job.

They deleted the video on the YouTube video after people already left comments
. They know it was a bad showing.

I agree with you, TheGreedyG103. Stadium Creator is one feature, and I understand it required the new systems in order to run, but that is not the definition of "next-gen". Agreed, this stream was a letdown, and it didn't answer the technical questions I wanted answered. It was a Stadium Creator stream, not a "next-gen" stream.
Coincidentally, here are the questions I want answered and was expecting some answers in the stream about that were not answered.
Okay, so I know 4k@120 is not going to happen this year. However, what about 1440@120 or 1080p@120? Did 1440 get dropped because the PS5 does not support it natively? (The Xbox Series X|S support 1440@120 natively, so I sure hope 1440 (balanced) was not dropped in '21.)
1440@120 or 1080@120 is a cakewalk for the next-gen Xbox systems, with tons of horsepower leftover to still run SC. In addition, Microsoft has a 120fps patch for Xbox Series S|X that can make games be able to support 120 w/ minimal effort by the development team. Does the Xbox Series S|X version support this, and if not, why not? These are technical questions that I'd expect/want answered in a "next-gen" stream.
Instead, all we got was a 30-minute advertisement/commercial for Stadium Creator.
Could not have articulated it any better. Let's go even further beyond that. How were there no updated textures? Why does the dirt sitting on home plate still look so artificial? Why are there not any cloth physics? Why is their a lack of Ray Tracing? This game will be killed by reviewers.
