@SaveFarris_PSN this whole post is about new equipment. No one cares about the old equipment.

Why do you know for a fact SDS doesn’t have permission to use the new equipment. I don’t think that’s a fair assumption.

@TheBigPapa55_PSN Am I failing miserably? This guy said why can’t they just copy over from previous games when this whole post centered around updated equipment smh. He’s not getting it.

First you say the ball is in Nike’s court and their court alone, then you say why can’t SDS not just copy over from previous games (ball not in Nike’s court).

You say why does equipment have to be designed from scratch, I clearly explain I’m talking about new equipment (can’t just be copied over) and you just go right back to permission even though you just said why does equipment have to be remodeled every year.

You’re acting like the only thing that has to happen is Nike give the rights to use their equipment, just not accurate. Someone has to actually design and program the equipment into the game, you’re missing that part in your argument.

@SaveFarris_PSN while SDS might not be free to post anything they want I agree there’s no reason Nike would ever want to limit any of their gear being in the game. I don’t see Nike being the problem and holdup here, they’d want their new equipment being marketed in the game.

@SaveFarris_PSN Yeah, but there has been Nike and many other brands equipment in the game for years. You’re suggesting Nike isn’t willing to give them rights to the new models? It’s been happening for years, that doesn’t make sense.

@SaveFarris_PSN In what way? Are you saying Nike has to give approval to use their new cleat/equipment models? SDS is the one building the models in the game, not Nike.

The gameplay trailer showed the same old Nike equipment from 2 years ago, if they can’t get the new Nike equipment added to the game before release that will be a major disappointment. Over 50% of players wear Nike, let’s get the newest cleat and equipment models for Nike in the game!

@SDS_JoeK_PSN I really do appreciate the responses and giving some clarity on how it works. If my feedback (and I know others) can help the SDS team I’ll just say I absolutely LOVED when the top 100 prospects and 1st round draft picks got face scans in 22 and it really enhanced the experience so if there’s any way to start doing that again it would be incredible.

@SDS_JoeK_PSN Do appreciate that. Do you plan to scan minor leaguers/top prospects this year at all?

I’ve also seen rumors there’s a setup in San Diego and players come in to get scanned there when in town playing the Padres, is that true?

Also if you have any information on possible enhancements to this process to not need a full setup rig and be able to do that remotely that would be great to hear. If there is anything, if not that’s understandable, I have no clue how this even works obviously.

Yes please please bring this back. It was implemented in MLB the Show 22 and enhanced the game so much. I’ve been sad every year it isn’t brought back. The game brought in a minor league content specialist (Ridin Rosters) and I thought they would focus on this more. Non face scan prospect models just aren’t realistic enough, we need face scans. Either get more people to collect them during free agency or enhance the technology so these can be collected from players more easily. It’s 2026 this technology should have advanced from 10 years ago so these face scans can be added for players more easily. We are even missing many face scans from players who have been in the big leagues for 2 years, ridiculous!

The game last year included quite a bit of equipment updates as the year went, but some areas are still seriously lacking. The number 1 area being Nike cleats and equipment. Nike cleats are worn by at least 50% of the league and these cleats models have not received any update in the last 2 years. Nike has recently come out with new cleats in real life and it would be very disappointing to not see those added into the 2026 game as well as other Nike equipment like batting gloves and compression sleeves.

Other equipment like catchers gear and arm and leg guards are lacking recent updates as well.

Another thing on equipment that would be very beneficial is the ability to have a color wheel to apply many different colors to equipment as opposed to the limited set of colors given. Players and brands now bring very eccentric and color equipment to the game and being able to mimic that will enhance the realistic experience.

Lastly on equipment team color 3 has been an excellent feature, but team color 3 corresponds to the jersey as opposed to the pants which doesn’t always make it accurate. For example the Astros orange jersey is a home jersey, but they wear it on the road very often. Currently if you wear it on the road team color 3 is white bc it is a home uni. If team color 3 aligned with the pants this would make team color 3 work much better and allow certain jerseys to be worn at home or on the road like many teams do currently.

In MLB The Show 22 we got face scans for top 100 prospects and 2021 1st round draft picks. Being able to use the future stars with realistic looking player models was a game changer. Not having that in the previous 3 games now after getting it in 2022 sucks. I’m also hoping the face scan technology has gotten better and can be collected from players easier (remotely ideally). We’re not asking for perfect face scans, but something that makes the player models better. You’ve been able to bring in your personal face taking a picture of yourself and uploading it, why can’t we have similar technology used for prospects? Having face scans for prospects and being able to play with the future stars of the league (Konnor Griffin, Kevin McGonigle, etc.) makes the game way better. We’re also have guys who have been in the mlb for 2 years without face scans (Colt Keith, Bowden Francis, etc.) this to me is unacceptable and there has to be a way to get these players face scans into the game more quickly.

Hoping to see this technology enhance and have the ability to play with top prospects with face scans in the game like we did in MLB the Show 22, don’t want to see the game take steps backwards in this area as it feels like it has in recent years.
