It makes about as much sense as some of the secondary positions they gave to some of the program cards.
In no world ever should a guy with 28 HR over a 19 year career have 99 power.
And Pudge and Posada shouldn’t have 2B eligibility. I don’t disagree with you, I'm just saying both have the same degree of ridiculousness.
At least they’ve played at least an inning there. Lindor hasn’t played anywhere but SS majors or minors but still has 2B and 3B as secondaries
But this is the way secondaries should actually be handled. An athletic shortstop like Lindor can without a doubt play 2nd or 3rd. Even though he never plays elsewhere, those are his “secondary” positions. Pudge and Posada have it slapped on there is just because someone was able to go read Baseball Reference and go “oh Jorge played an inning there and Pudge played two”. Just because someone played an inning or even a game somewhere, does not mean it was there secondary position and just because someone never plays a different position doesn’t mean they don’t have a secondary.
If being athletic enough to play other positions is the requirement then shouldn't every player have 1B as a secondary? Mo Vaughn played first base and I'm sure that every other MLB player is more athletic than him. Probably give every player the corner outfield secondary too.
