This Patch is Bad. Here’s why.

All those other factors can be taken into account as modifiers. Nobody calls their PS4 controller a “simulator”.

Players want to feel like they are in control of their gameplay. I play OOTP when I want simulation.

MLB The Show is a "simulation video game". From Wikipedia, "...since 2014 has been the sole baseball simulation video game on the market." Likewise, 2K is bringing back NFL 2K. They are calling it a "non-simulation." The term simulation for video games is different than talking about OOTP.

@halfbutt said in This Patch is Bad. Here’s why.:

Would it be too much to ask to just have a chart or something that says:

    Good/ok: x% chance of hit
    Good/good: y% chance of hit
    Good/squared: z% chance of hit
    Perfect/perfect: a% chance of hit?

I mean, we all know dice rolls are happening. We have pack odds published. Why not let us know the odds of getting a hit with the various degrees of placement and timing?

The problem right now, to me, is that you have multiple layers of RNG. Even a perfectly executed swing only gives a chance of a hit.

IMO, that defeats the meaning of a "simulation" game then. Other factors need to be taken into account, i.e. hitter hot/cold zones, pitch type, pitch location, pitch speed, etc. To just say good/good is a dice-roll takes away from the "simulation" aspect. If you want hits based on % of the time, RBI Baseball is the game to play.

Am I the only one who is early on every thing now ??

Not sure if anyone has replied, but it's because they changed the timing window, so essentially imo yes, if you had hitting timing "perfected", you're now back a step.

Dashboarding has always been an issue in the show it won't go away anytime soon so get used to it. You will eventually get you stats you need done if that's what you are mad about. The opponent doesn't give a bleep obviously.

You're right, we do all eventually get done what we need to. As I stated previously, this post was made out of my daily mission being 5 RBI. Instead, I basically had to get 6 because a dashboard. I still got it done, nothing to worry about. But it's also not the first time it's happened. And I know it won't be the last.

I believe they did use to have a forfeit option, on top of friendly and standard quit? Wondering why they ever got away from it. I know the order typically went friendly, forfeit, quit, but people would try to trick and offer forfeit then friendly. Not quite sure what that would even solve, but that's also in part to me hardly remembering what the difference was between forfeit and quit.

i do say that i get a certain enjoyment after a dude rage quits coz i go back 2 back or something - but it's absolutely poor form. just quit from menu like a gentleman.

Bingo. I find it hilarious too because it's literally them admitting defeat over the fact they don't think they can comeback. If "poor pitching coding" is the reason they gave up a bad pitch home run, why don't they think I'll have the same problem and they can hit a homer off of me?

Personally, I could even really care less about losing the stats.

You realize “I could care less” means you care, right?

I know what I said. Would it be nice to have the stats? Sure, why not, it looks pretty. But it wasn't my main intent of why people shouldn't dashboard. Hence, why I could care less about it in comparison to other impacts it has. What maskedgrappler said a few replies above is EXACTLY why I made this post. Sure, he got an event win, but for other missions, he just wasted his time when in reality, he completed them. It's cheating other people and its cheating the game.

I thought it you dashboard in MTO you don't get TA points?

It's if you dashboard three times, and I've had instances where it didn't register them. It gives you warnings when you go back into that MTO.

Who cares. It makes the game move on faster. You’re gonna play another one anyway so you will eventually get the stats. I dashboard when it makes me hang pitches in clutch moments, screw the other guy they didn’t deserve the free homerun due to Poor pitching coding

As I said earlier in the thread, I'm not saying play out the full game. Just wait till next batter is up and then quit. And for the "dashboarder", they actually get back into their next game quicker that way, so it doesn't even make sense. It's just the fact they are salty. Imagine if MLB pitchers could just "dashboard" when they make a bad pitch or someone is sitting on a pitch they are ready to crush.

I laugh everytime I do it. Who really won?

Idk, check your game history when you get back to the DD home screen.

You seem more worried about it than me. When you roll dice sometimes you win sometimes you lose but that homerun never happened.

If you want the reasoning behind the post, one of my daily missions is 5 RBI. I hit a HR but opponent dashboarded. Is it going to take longer now? Sure. Will I get it still? Yes. So really I'm not that worried. It's just childish, selfish, and pointless.
Sounds like your opponent won then.

Except the fact where I got the win counted for in event? Which is what I'm really playing the event for. And they were playing for too.

Yet they probably went to the next game and you’re crying about stats 🤷‍♂️ Easy to tell who the real winner was.

Are you attempting to be funny?...at least put some effort into it....because you just sound like a little kid trying to be funny

Nope not being funny at all. This post makes me want to dashboard more. Never knew people were actually sitting at home crying because of it. It’s a video game lol.

Sounds like you're doing a lot of losing.

Meh I go back and forth. Game is pretty terrible and random. Almost all of my losses Have been dashboarding on a homerun though. Glad I’m doing it correctly.

It's a point we will agree to disagree on and admittingly the banter has been fun. But I really just want to know what you get out of dashboarding? It literally takes more time to get back to DD than if you wait 5 seconds and then quit. And regardless you still get an L.

I love when people dashboard. Get the win in much less time.

Sucks for stats towards prestige players, but whatever.

My point isn't play the full game out. Just wait till the stats register and then quit. Tbh, it saves the "dashboarder" more time anyway.

Have I done it myself in March to October when a game isn't going my way? Most certainly. But PLEASE stop doing it online. Personally, I could even really care less about losing the stats. It's the missions and program stars you're robbing people of. And if you really care about your personal stats, just know deGrom gave up 19 HR last year and won a Cy Young; it's ok to give up runs. Also, SDS isn't handing out trophies to us players anyway, so what's it matter?

Could SDS do something about it? Sure. They placed a limit on how many times you can do it in MTO. But until that happens, why not just fix the "issue" ourselves. Let the ball land and then quit.

    That's hilarious.

I'm pretty sure people do it because they just don't want to deal with the bullish this game has to offer at the time their doing it....and it has absolutely nothing to do with you, your program stars or missions, etc. You want to complain?...then go complain directly to SDS, but don't expect the community to cater to your mission and program star needs.

Bottomline, people are going to do what they want, and you're nobody to tell them otherwise. Facts.

I won't disagree with you and probably a small percentage of the people who play the game are on here anyway... but when the fielding sucked early in the game, big streamers were intentionally getting tagged out or staying to 1 or 2 bases. It's no secret this game has flaws. Until SDS solves them, we can play the game the right way.

I know it doesn't have to do with me. It has to do with the fact they don't want their stats affected. But in the meantime, they are still having a negative impact vs their opponent and you can't deny that. Intent or no intent, it's happening.

Oh 100%. I was more so "speaking" for the entire community than myself personally. To me, stats mean nothing. What dictates rewards in events or ranking in seasons? W's and L's. Dashboard or wait a quit, I'm getting the W anyway. I'm getting the benefit I need regardless. Takes me a game longer to get the auxiliary rewards, but to me most of those just come over time. I'm not one to stack my ranked season lineup just to get team hits or innings.
