I mean I've been using Walker Buehler LS and have a sub 2.00 ERA over close to 15 starts so I wouldnt say LS cards are unusable.

Mattingly could be sneaky good... he has the bomber quirk. Especially since the only problem with him would be his power
edit* also i say this not having used him at all
I don’t believe quirks apply to players outside of live series.
I think that only applies to some quirks like the "excels at hitting fastballs" or "excels at hitting breaking balls".
I could be wrong
I'd really like a definitive answer to this I've been wondering this myself for quite some time.

This is a really interesting discussion as someone who has used Normal swing exclusively, I'm going to try some of the tips in this thread around specific situations to see if there is a noticeable difference. Not sure if it will matter for me or not considering how abysmal I am at hitting .219 average over close to 150 RS games, but I'll try anything.

Luzardo
Keller
Buehler (not sure why I kill it with him but I do)
Buehrle
Snell LSHas anyone used Dane Dunning at all? I'm working my way through the CWS TA and was curious what he is like.

I literally mute my TV until I get in game the soundtrack is so bad on this game.
-
I faced him once and shelled him and I'm terrible at this game batting .219 over about 130 RS games
-
KeBryan Hayes is free through TA and his defense is nasty at the hot corner and he hits better than you would think

I dont have near the same success bunting, in particular against the CPU when the situation calls for it, that other people have. I dont get it. I can never bunt for hits and sacrificing usually leads to double plays (or bunts popped up in the infield). What am I doing wrong?
I'm the same way I stopped even trying to bunt after having such a hard time bunting for a hit with Mondesi, meanwhile guys I'm facing get bunts for hits with ease even with shifts.

This is easily one of the most disappointing parts of the game IMO. I'm heavy into Fantasy Baseball and baseball analytics and the stats and advanced stats sections in this game are terrible. They need new filters as well to allow more advanced type of searches.
Indeed. I cannot evaluate who is better at defence for a specific position with these advanced stats.
Unfortunately this section has been like this as far back as I can remember. I don't think SDS employs people who actually have a passion for the game.
-
The only thing I have found that truly has given me results is taking a break for a couple days, I've experienced very similar things and usually hang around PR and WC division ranks as well.

I've really struggled with Fingers, any suggestions on pitching with him?
That’s on you brah. He is 2-0 with 14 saves and a 0.25 ERA for me. The guy is a stud on the mound.
I'm hesitant to say it's me just because pitching is the one area that I actually excel at in this game I have a team ERA around 3.00. I've resorted to using Yates as my closer instead because I am getting such better results using him. I've only used Fingers a few times though maybe after a few more tries I'll catch on.

Bryan Reynolds has hit leadoff for me in every RS game I have played, probably close to 125 games batting .282 9hrs 19rbis with a ton of runs. Hes a switch hitter too with great contact from both sides.
I'm pretty sure David Price's reliever card is silver as well and I have put up great numbers with him over a long period of time too.
-
I cant pitch with Taylor Rodgers to save my life idk what it is, I've had really good success with David Price and Kirby Yates
-
LS Bryan Reynolds I've had him in my lineup for close to 100 games and I'm hitting .280 with him and hes my leadoff guy, literally any LS catcher I hit bombs with Grandal and Salvy Perez, I'm a big fan of LS Whit Merrifield as well.
-
This is a great idea and I'd like to see it for all players, I've had 78 overall Bryan Reynolds in my lineup since the beginning (i only play RS) and it'd be really cool to upgrade based off of usage.
