Isn't play cross "platform" not cross gen? If there are differences in gameplay I don't see how that will work. I.e FIFA and Madden.

Okay so if there are "gameplay" differences between next gen and current gen versions , i.e. player movement while fielding or pitching animations will it be like madden? Meaning next gen players are only matched with next gen players while playing head to head?

It will be just like madden I presume. If you have a next gen console I'm pretty sure you can only be matched with other next gen console users as well. Not 100 percent sure but that would be my guess.
