It's not so much that I care about online play as something I desire doing, but what I like most is collecting the cards and what not, and I'm to a stage where I pretty much have to play online to do that because there just aren't enough free packs or stub opportunities left offline (and I'm certainly not paying for stubs)
My obstacles: First, I'm middle aged, so I don't really track the ball as quickly as a 20 year old anymore, at least I don't think I do. Beyond that, I play in a home theatre room, so there's input lag. It's about a 25 foot run from my console to my projector, which then has to project the image all the way back to the screen. Also, the screen is larger than my field of vision, so distance-wise, there's more ground to cover for my eyes to track the ball from the pitcher (maybe a foot?). To me it feels like only a tiny amount of lag, but I'm sure it's more significant than I figure.
My situation/settings: First year player. Offline, I play directional on veteran. Can consistently win against AI on All-Star, but they're always very low scoring affairs, usually relying upon one great swing during the game. I've tried the PCI a few times, but it's either misses or grounders 95 out of 100 times. Again I don't know if it's because of input lag, age, or because I just suck.
Baserunning glitch: I didn't change any settings, but recently, when the pitcher does a pickoff move, there's no momentary slowing of time. This isn't a case of "get gooder", because I've tested it extensively and I literally cannot avoid being picked off unless I'm hitting the "go back" motion on the stick the moment I start to lead off. Again, I don't know if that's input lag or if the game is just designed that poorly. I've had the game randomly change settings on me before. Does anybody know how to get it back to where, if the pitcher is going to make a pickoff move, it does that split second slowing of time so you can actually respond? It's not even remotely realistic the way it's playing right now, to the point that I don't even lead off anymore, which takes an already janky stealing mechanic and makes it unusable. I've gone through the settings and can't seem to find anything. Or is this like fielding where they gradually added aspects to fielding to the point that fielding no longer worked because, as a 2nd basemen, you basically can't pick off the computer because the game freezes you before you get to the bag? Guess that makes for 2 questions: How do I change my position in RTTS, because 2nd base is essentially broken?
