This is a valid complaint, and a solution does exist, so this post isn’t a useless complaint. The older Madden games used to give you a slight boost in rating points earned/lost if the team’s overall you used is worse than your opponents. Didn’t stop people from using OP teams, but it did give incentive to mix it up. Could be implemented by SDS to make rated better.

I thought someone on YouTube hopped into a game with a friend to test PCI feedback, and found evidence that it didn’t match up.
-
The person was undefeated at like 20-0 so it makes sense for them to be amazing haha but also makes sense if there were chests involved. Now I know! Thanks! Gotta get back on the grind!
-
Does this affect swing timing? Either my last opponent cheated or was just absolutely insane. Perfect timing on every pitch, and hitting homeruns on pitches outside the zone because of it. I could just be predictable and trash at the game tho...
-
Ahhhh if they turn cross play off for created stadiums then my suspicion isn’t true. Had a good run lol.
-
I’ve wondered if it has something to do with created stadiums. I’m on PS4 so I obviously don’t have access to them. If I get matched up against a next gen user with a created stadium, there’s no way for them to be the home team. If you’re noticing you’re away a bunch, it could be that your stadium isn’t compatible with last gen, and matching up with them gives them home field advantage. I’ve noticed I’m home a ton.
-
I’m almost tempted to complain when my opponent takes their time honestly.
-
This isn’t a “get good” or “just practice” reply, but honesty what I do that helps is go into practice mode on Legend against a flame throwing pitcher, and set it to be fastballs down the middle. After getting it down, set for fastballs all over and work on the pci. This is ramped up which will then make it seem slower online. From there you can just rock 102, though I agree it is annoying seeing it every game.

Out of curiosity, I noticed that even though I’ve completed the AL West, many of those teams now say 37/40, 38/40, and so on. Did the cards I collected get removed from the game completely? Is there any reason (OTHER THAN IT DESTROYING MY OCD) to buy the new cards even though I have the collection rewards?
-
90+ overall cards will continue to increase in price as the year goes on, while 89- generally trend down, so if you want to complete the live series collection, you should make a line straight for 90+ cards to do it as cheaply as possible. That said, it may not save much for the extra time in waiting if you get Ernie first. He’s an end game SS that you can get a jump on paralleling, and will probably fill a whole few can replace at that position. I personally got Acuna first and am loving it.

Have y’all ran tests with stride swinging? I just went into practice and played around with a couple things. Maybe someone could confirm.
First, (using Mark Canha on HoF), I played normally. Maxed out exit velocity at 110.
Then, I started my stride before the pitcher began his delivery so that his foot was down and he just swung with his upper body. Couldn’t quit reach 110 (could be luck) but I hit 107 including multiple homeruns.
Lastly, I didn’t start my stride until the ball was in the air, and swung immediately after the front foot was up. Canha has a big leg kick, so surely this would affect his swing. Nope. The animation looked buggy because he instantly landed his front foot down and forward as he swung, but launched 109 max in my test, with again, multiple HRs.
I should mention also that the PCI didn’t change on any of the above methods.
So it seems like “stride” is simply “flick” but with the caveat that you must pull back before the flick (and keep in mind that flick is just using the right stick as your “button”). When you pull it back bares no affect on gameplay, and is purely visual and mental. Maybe some of y’all think it’s an added skill and harder than buttons in some way, but I didn’t see that in my tests. It’s still just one timing mechanic not two. In 11 or 12 when stride swinging was introduced, the stride timing was definitely taken into account as well as the swing timing. It even showed it on pitch feedback. Hasn’t been that way in almost a decade though.
So to those who prefer the feel of it, cheers and Godspeed! Just know that when you put your foot down doesn’t reeeaaally matter. And to those who bash the button pushers, I say “sir, you have a weird looking X button”.

It’s my understanding that support tickets don’t warrant a response on the forum, but yea, they should definitely be fixed/taken care of. That’s a legitimate complaint. But then it gets drowned out by soundtracks and accessories for no reason, as well as the daily threads titled “game sux”. I get that people are pissed, and the servers/bugs/tickets likely stemming from it should be fixed. Still stand by what I said though.

Wow that’s awesome! Thanks for the info! May have to switch to zone plus analog stride swinging. I’m wondering if there’s a boost for timing the stride. If I remember correctly, perfect stride and perfect swing time was OP back in the day. This may give more control than just perfect swing timing on buttons, or at least it should (it used to).
-
Oh yikes, I’m a “these types”. No other gaming forum is this toxic and you just proved that point. Don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty I’d love to see fixed, changed, or improved upon, but y’all just wild. Not sure if you believe this forum to be civil, but if so, wouldn’t a civil response make more sense? I’m just confused by a toxic reply, refuting a claim of toxicity. Maybe I shouldn’t be though haha

MLB the Show is an arcade game, and while there are styles better suited to simulation, it still relies on user input, so it will never be a true simulation. If you’re interest in realism and simulation, you should check out OOTP. I got burned out from offline the Show since all my players had similar stats and tendencies (as I was controlling them), and have been satisfying my franchise itch on OOTP, while using the Show to compete against others online. I enjoy both games for what they offer!

I used to use pure analog but stopped once they took stride timing out. Don’t think it’s back in, or is it? Obviously, loading a stride then having to literally “wait back” on off speed pitches simulated an at bat better than clicking a button, and provided a greater challenge. That said, I mostly play online these days and use PCI+button as it gives me the most control which is best for competitive play (ps please don’t hate me)

I read almost everything.
Bless your soul! I’m new to these forums and man oh man... It’s worse out here than teaching evals from a Covid semester. May be done after I’m finished traveling cause for a gamer, it’s neither entertaining nor useful. Sorry you gotta read this man.

The increase in difficulty is probably do to the actually difficulty setting increasing. This year, if you match up with someone in a higher division, their settings are used. This makes PCI's smaller, good contact not as solid, and so on. At the end of each game, you can see your opponents ratings. If they're higher than you, that would explain it.
