@SaveFarris_PSN I am new. I did not know that. I prefer 5 LS packs, then.
-
"XP Boost: Triple XP (3x XP) is active until the end of the current inning path, making it the best time to earn bosses and wheel spins."
Earn Wheel Spins...
Because we all know that there is nothing more rewarding than 5 LS packs with 65 stubs value in each when you just grinded for 30 000 XP...
Woooh! 325 stubs! I can finally buy that bronze cards I have been eying since May! (it is sarcasm...)
-
@SaveFarris_PSN Thanks for the heads-up and the great idea!!

I decided to keep playing. I will just grind at whatever the game is pitching me, with a priority wich each new Spotlight program. I will then try to finish the Neon collection. Not sure of what I will do with my 200 k in stubs, though...

I thought about something else: the catchers.
I think it had been adressed in the past week, but there was a time my catcher would drop (or not catch) the ball three of four time each game. Every time, the CPU will get a free base.
Now, it is about one time every two games.
But I NEVER saw a CPU catcher drop a ball. I NEVER got a free base on a wild pitch. Wich is, again, frustrating.
-
Some of the CPU pitchers have better reflexes than NHL goalies.
The NHL goalies work a lifetime to always be in perfect position to block a 100 MPH slap shot coming from a 90 feet distance. Most of the time, the puck hit them, no the contrary. There are about 60 human beings that can do that regularly in the whole world.
MLB The Show pitchers can catch, sometime behind their back, a ball coming at 100 + MPH from a 50 feet distance. All of this while being in improper position (after their release) and after the ball made a bounce on an irregular surface like grass or sand. While their super talent is THROWING the ball, not catching it!
As for defense as a whole, as a grinder, I played a lot against the Rockies, at Veteran difficulty. Let's just say that the MLB The Show Rockies are much much better defensively than the actual Rockies.
It is just very frustrating.

Hi guys,
I am new to the game and the franchise. I am 48 and been playing since June. I became quite obsess with the Diamond Dynasty mode. I spent almost all of my free time playing it - 2 to 3 hours every day.
But now, for the first time in three months, I hit a wall.
At first, I thought there would be no way I will unlock Rolen 99. I did last month. Then, I thought there was no way I will finish the Live Series. I did last week.
I thought there was no way I would unlock Ted Williams 99. This is what I have been working on these past few days. But the motivation is not much there.
I mean, I can unlock Williams, but what would I do with it? It would not be on my God Squad because he is not fast enough. I won't need it to grind into the Red Sox TA program because I have all the rewards beside the absolutely useless last one.
I have the same problem with Bautista. I have a load of 99 outfielders. Why should I grind and grind and grind (I still need 94 cards) for a guy I would not use because he is slow as molasse?
Furthermore, the market is killing me right now. I understand that a lot of people get richer this week-end by completing the Shark Conquest and the Neon Programs. I am one of those. But I am really richer?
Last week, I needed 63 cards to unlock Williams, cards that would cost me (at the time) 500 K. Seven days later, I now need 31 cards. That would cost me... 487 K. What the hell???
For the first time in three months yesterday, I had no desire to play the game. I end up finishing the Rangers Neon Program. I did it in one game. I then plan on doing the Braves Neon Program. I built my squad and... close the game instead and watch a movie on Netflix.
I am not sure what to grind for anymore. I have 99 players at all positions on my God Squad. None of them are buffer waiting to be replace by a new shinny thing. All these players have a special place in my baseball fan heart and I love playing with them. I also have all the former Expos (the team of my childhood) players available in the game. I have done all the Programs beside one.
I could grind to buy the cards that would unlock Griffey Jr 99 (wich I absolutely love as a teen). But is he better than Beltran? And even if he is, would it REALLY make my team a lot better? Does it justified spending thousand and thousand of stubs (that I don't have yet) on it?
Everything that I still need to do (some lame Conquest, two or three Diamond Quests and one Mini-Season) will get me nothing I need to upgrade my team. Even the Neon program is of no use to me (I already unlock the dozen of cards I like, wich are all former stars).
I might like to unlock Gehrig Neon because I have a soft spot for Yankees Legends. But again, we are talking about - I think - another slow player that I won't put on my God Squad.
I have no intention of playing offline (my abilities are far from being there yet). Not sure I would like to play Road to the Show (it seems very frustrating) or March to October (many seems to find it lame).
I ear you: I could play the game to only play the game, but... I did it so much these last months and got rewarded for it with new cards to improve my team. Now, playing without a valid reward seems a lot less appealing. Call me Pavlov's dog...
Do I miss something? Is there more to the game than building the 99 squad of your dream? And what do you do when you get there?
(Sorry for the long read and the childlike vocabulary, english is my second language)

I have been using Beltran for a week. It is getting better now. I think I hit with .325.
But, what do I know. I can't hit with Vladdy. With Judge 99. With Soto. With Ohtani 99. With Sandberg 99.
But give me a Luke Keaschall 84 or a Spencer Steer 86 and I play like a king. Sort of.
This week-end, I decide to grind with the Blue Jays. I had no options at 3B. I end up using a 66 common card. I hit a single and a double with it. But 0 in 4 with Vladdy, Springer and Santander. Go figures...
-
I chose an all-star pack. I pulled the usual suspects: Torres, Tatis (x2), Smith and Yamamoto, for a total of 25 000 stubs.
I must have pulled each of these players at least five time. I can't pull anything else than common in 2025 AS Packs.
-
I know that every man garbage is an another man's treasure, but I sure won't lose time grinding hard to get the AL Central Neon cards...
-
That is what you would think indeed!
But yesterday, I lost two games at Conquest on the same map. I think I never lost a game in Conquest before (I have done more than half of the maps).
The day before, I lost back to back games, in... well, I don't remember the exact name of the mini-season. But it was the one with the 2025 All-Star. Granted, I lost to the Cairo Cats, who have a line-up as good as mine, but up to that point, I was 22-1.
It also never took me that much time to complete a Spotlight program. Normally, it is done in one or two days. I am now at my third day and, for the love of me, I just can't hit a second home run with Ben Rice or get a third XBH with Keaschall.
So, I add unusual results for three days in a row now. Maybe I was tired. Maybe, like yankblan said, I was overconfident.
I will take a break tonight. Maybe this is what I need and get back onto the horse Wednesday with a new attitude.
At least now, I know that I am not victim of a big conspiracy from SDS
Thanks again for your input guys! Once again, you did not disapoint!
-
Thanks guys! I appreciate. I will get back to the basics and hope for better results!

Hi guys,
I am new to the game and the franchise. I have been playing for almost three months now.
I am progressing well into the game. I now own Scott Rolen 99 and I am one card away of finishing the Live Series (I miss Ohtani). I gotta say that I never thought I would accomplish these two objectives when I start playing.
I have finish every programs - except two - and and every mini-season - beside Ink.
I also thought I was getting better. Until the last days.
I don't know if SDS tweek something, but winning game and getting hits against the CPU seems harder than ever on the Veteran difficulty.
Logically (well, I think lol), it should be the opposite, right, because I now have a squad that have a 99 overall grade and I still face (in Conquest, Diamond Quest, and Against CPU) Live Series teams that have an overall grade of 75 or 79.
How is it getting harder, then?
I use to destroy the Rockies and the White Sox CPU teams in July. I mean, winning a perfect-game-20-0 level of destruction. Now, I am lucky if I score five runs, even though I face the same 76 or 77 pitcher on the mound.
Balls that were flying over the wall, at the warning track or in the alley now become easy out in the outfield. Balls there were droping on the opposite field become pop up in the infield. The CPU also use outside pitches much more often to prevent me from stealing.
I got to precise that I use the swing timing mode. So, this is not a "location" problem. I still swing at the same time I was in the past week. The balls are just not flying anymore.
How come I was a better player (against the CPU) with a 87 overall team than I am with a 99?
How come I had so much more success hitting HR and doubles with Luke Keaschall Topps Now 86 card in June than I have now with his 99 Spotlight card?
So, is the computer "better" at playing the game to match the evolution of the highest cards everyone is using now?
I am not criticizing. I am just trying to understand why I became so bad in such a short time.
-
Don't we already have two Greenberg cards?
-
@yankblan_PSN It would be nice!
-
A program with players who were experts at hitting doubles?
There are a couple of names in there that needs a better card:
-
Don't give up! I thought I will never got both too. As of today, I am about 100 000 stubs away to complete de Live Series. I only need Ohtani. I am in harvesting stubs mode. But Ohtani price is going up almost every day!
-
I agree.
This week, I was trying to finish programs for pitchers (Verlander and Pettitte). I also needed to finish the Mid-Summer mini-season. I then decided to do both simultaneously.
Man, grinding with pitchers in this mode take SOOOOOOOOO long. And getting 16 TB with Jo Aranda will just take me forever at one or two AB per 3-innings game. I might even need TWO seasons!
Please, give us the choice to play 3, 6 or 9 innings in mini-season. I don't see any downside to it.
-
I appreciated you took the time to list all of this, BigPapa55!
I got to say I respectfully beg to differ on the Team Affinity point.
I am new to the franchise. The Show is the first baseball video game I play since Ken Griffey, in 1994.
I bought the game several weeks after his release.
Needless to say, when I start to play, I was like a dog on a bowling alley. I just did not know what to do, where to put my time and energy or what to achieve.
I even pull a Judge Live Series and sell it because I did not thought I will be doing the Live Series Collection. Let's just say I have seller's remorse today, as all my time in the game these days is dedicated to get the necessary stubs to buy Ohtani AND Judge...
Anyway. That gives you a portrait of who I was at the beginning of June, when I started playing.
But beside all of this, when the 2025 All-Star Vouchers could be redeemed, I got the 30 free cards.
I had to grind a lot. I kept track of my progress in a notebook. I worked very hard to put together a line-up that will get me the PXP I need to get to the next objective. And I played, and I played, and I played (against CPU).
If a disorganized and not very talented newcomer like me could get to 285 000 XP for EVERY team in less than two months, I think every one can do it.
I am not posting this to brag. Like I said, I am not a very good player. I just got Rolen 99 and I am still 16 Diamond Cards away for the Live Series Collection.
I just think that anyone who put the time and effort on the Team Affinity program can get to the vouchers quite easily.
