The three features that received the most L's in todays stream
  • O omegaminus_sk

I only caught a tiny part of the stream, but I did see them talking about the prestige diamonds and how they were using them to respond to the requests for the return of some of the stat grinds. Except that in my experience, 95+% of the people asking for stat grinds were offline players looking for more to do than just play Conquest over and over.

As someone looking for better things to do with my DD collection without having to play H2H, was there anything new in this stream?

  • Offline and Casual players Only Thread
  • O omegaminus_sk

I want to play with my DD collection. Nothing else. I don't want to play with a drafted squad or with live MLB teams. And there's a big limitation with everything I can do with my collection - Conquest is 3-inning road games only, Play vs. CPU is aimless, and singleplayer Custom Leagues require exploiting a loophole, don't count as DD for the purpose of missions, and offer only home games.

Custom Leagues without the mentioned problems would be pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

They haven’t shown the DD screens ? And the moments were 100 times better than playing with one player or team for 500 innings I can’t believe some of y’all actually like the old way better.

As I recall, ag1982 leans heavily toward playing offline. I'm the same way.

The Missions of 17 and 18 were at least interesting objectives that we could accomplish organically in the course of games. I understand how online players would much favour the XP rewards path + Moments, but us offline players were left with so little to do it wasn't worth it. Moments are walled-off objectives that were unfulfilling. Conquest is nothing but three-inning road games. Without the interesting and challenging missions, there's no entertainment to be had from Play vs. CPU.

    Play vs CPU

Make it a season mode and I'd enjoy it. As it is, Play vs. CPU is just meaningless individual games.

It looks like there's the ability to do the Evolution programs (the new rookie-to-prime) offline, but that's a small thing. Still no meaningful 9-inning single-player DD games with your collection.

I mean, can’t you play a franchise using “add Legend to the FA pool” option?

It's not just about being able to play with the legends; a huge part of it (for me, at least) is the journey of building and improving my team by collecting cards, which I find much more interesting and entertaining than being a GM in Franchise.

  • Offline DD modes! SDS this is a must!
  • O omegaminus_sk

    Dear SDS,

Build on what you started with Custom Leagues. Let us play a single-player Custom League without having to exploit a loophole and have it count as DD for the purpose of missions.

Alternatively, let us play a proper 162-game season with our DD team replacing the MLB team of our choice, and based on how much success we have, award team affinity for the team we replaced. Increase rewards for keeping our team within roster restrictions BR-style as an optional salary cap mode.

  • Offline DD - No path to 300 without Showdown or expensive collections is killing my desire to continue.
  • O omegaminus_sk

A huge part of DD is the card collection, but there's so little that can be done with it in singleplayer. I've been wanting more for years, but they don't seem to care.

As an offline player, you are nuts. Between moments, showdown, conquest, and MTO being impactful towards getting cards there is a ton of offline content. Adios.

Not content that actually uses our card collections. Conquest is all there is. Everything else is meaningless and uninteresting.

I definitely get what your saying about offline not having as much to do. I don't want this coming off in a bad way or anything but Diamond Dynasty is made to be an online mode and majority of the time you spend playing that game mode should be online versus others not the CPU.

I understand that's the way they seem to have intended to position it, but I just don't see why this interesting and entertaining card-collecting part of the game should be restricted to online multiplayer. I'm far more interested in it as a way of acquiring and progressing a team than being a GM in Franchise mode, but the decision to target it to online players only seems needless and arbitrary.

Here is what you can do offline in DD:

    Play versus CPU MLB Teams
Play versus other users DD teams controlled by CPU
Conquest - I believe there is more than 10 maps and all are re-playable.
Moments - We all already know there are a ton of them.

The first and second items have no inherent purpose. You play a game and... that's it. there's no reward, no greater structure for them to be a part of, no immediate reason to play them at all. The games are about as meaningful as the games of Ice Hockey I played on the Atari 2600 in the mid-80s. I need better than that in this day and age.

Conquest has some framework to it beyond single meaningless games, but like I said, it's nothing but three-inning road games. It's the only part of offline DD that has any structure at all, and it gives me no use for my home uniforms or stadium cards.

The overwhelming majority of moments (over 80%, last I checked) don't involve my DD team. I have no interest in those. Even the ones that do use it don't count toward Team Affinity or Daily Mission innings (because "Moments is not Diamond Dynasty") in another baffling, arbitrary decision.

The list of online things-to-do contains so much more in terms of meaningfulness and rewards than the offline list that they're not comparable.

Hopefully Custom Leagues actually lets you play full seasons and you can then select your DD team to run a season with versus CPU, I think that would make all parties happy.

    This I agree with completely.

Evolution cards allow your to complete programs that can only be completed grinding online only activities.

It didn't appear to me that the Evolution programs required online play. The Eckersley one, for example, had the diamond reward at 50 points. Stage 1, which is all moments, gives 30 points. Stage 2 has a few options. There's an online mission for 10 points, an offline mission for 10, an exchange for 10, or a set of moments for 10. So the online mission is not required for 50.

Not to mention always road team.

This is an understated weakness of offline DD. DD's main thrust is team customization and Conquest gives zero use for home uniforms or stadium cards.

@LankyRyan said in The three features that received the most L's in todays stream:

I guess I don't fully see where offline folks are coming from with this.

There were a ton of cards that were only obtainable through conquest maps, an offline mode. There was also the moments rewards cards, which were akin to WS rewards cards. I don't particularly enjoy offline play, but you know what? I did them, because that's the only way you could get those cards.

I fully support both online and offline folks getting what they want, but I'm just not sure I understand what exactly is missing from the offline experience, even after reading it in a bunch of different threads?

From my perspective, the problem was that there was a poor variety of meaningful things that could be done with the cards I collected.

Conquest is nothing but three-inning road games. Only Play vs. CPU offered 9-inning games, but Play vs. CPU is unfulfilling - it's like if there were no Ranked Seasons, just Casual Online. Moments? The overwhelming majority of them didn't involve our DD teams.

  • Better ways of earning Team Affinity with your DD card collection
  • O omegaminus_sk

I'm pretty much ignoring Team Affinity at the moment because I don't find any of the ways to earn it appealing.

I want to play using my DD collection. Not as a drafted squad in Showdown, not as a real MLB team in MTO, and I'd rather play baseball than mindlessly buy and exchange cards. The only way to earn TA points as my DD team is the innings grind which is painfully slow unless I load my team up with lesser cards I otherwise don't want to use, and even then I'd need to play over 30 complete games to earn a FOTF card. That's not worth the time.

Here's an idea that I could see being added in 20: Award a TA voucher for winning a game (or games) in Play vs. CPU. The voucher can be used to get TA points for any team that has the team you defeated as a rival. The higher the difficulty, the more TA points the voucher is worth.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Better ideas for earning affinity by playing online are also welcome.

And I won't understand the offline community complaining about a mainly online competitive mode.

In my case it's because DD has an interesting, entertaining way of acquiring and improving my team that appeals far more to me than being a GM in franchise mode.

  • Offically no online franchise thanks sds

Ideally Custom Leagues would be capable of using live MLB rosters and/or DD teams.
