There's not much variety for offline players outside of conquest playing the cpu and frustrating moments. To grind for cards you really want you either have to play with them online and stay grind with online or spend money on the game for exchanges. It's frustrating playing online as it is considering the matchmaking is awful playing players who are well above your skill levels. Plus not to mention how frustrating hitting logic. For example my last game I hit about 4 perfect/perfect middle of the pci and they end up being outs for me while my opponent had a good/squared up hits left and right. I get it baseball is a hard sport and get sometimes line out hard but not as frequent as perfect/perfect in this game. Don't get me started on the pitching. Anyway hopefully they have better results for hitting and pitching starting on the on next gen consoles
Yeah, as an offline player I was excited about Showdown, and it has done nothing but frustrate me. I failed it 8 out of 9 times last night. This mode is for DD players, the ones who play online and buy monitors, that is not nor will ever be me, if I cant justify spending money for PS plus, I am not going out to buy a monitor.
Beating the CPU on veteran does not require you go out an buy a monitor. It doesn't even require you to be very good at the game.
I can beat the CPU on HOF, but that is because of pitching. When I hit, I only have enough time to swing at a pitch already coming for my PCI, if I have to move my PCI I am late. I've been using Zone since 17 and played 1000's of hours, tell me when am i going to Git Gud????
Seriously i can rock the CPU on Veteran for 20 runs in 1 game and then score 2 in the next. I am not saying i am not a bad player, when i played online i would say i am average to below, but my pitching would keep me in games, because pitching doesnt require me to have to move a pci and hit a but at the exact time as a ball is coming. I am not saying Veteran is hard, I am saying that crushing the CPU on Veteran consistently is not as easy as you people are making it out to be, if it were there wouldn't be any complaints. Like I said if you can tell me something i don't already know on how to git gud at hitting, I will gladly listen. I am hitting worse now than I did a month ago, no idea why, I tried the PC input method no difference, I tried doing practice. But like I said, I failed 4 out 5 AL west and failed all 4 NL wests yesterday. I have more success with the final boss on AS than I do with the first boss on Veteran. I was 1-1 in those and the 1 I lost was entirely my fault. I had winning run on 3rd bases loaded and 4 outs. If I had stuck with my strategy instead of trying to play small ball I would have been 2-0 on final boss. I went 3-9 vs 1st boss. Tell me how that sounds right. The only explanation is that on the times I beat the CPU on any difficulty, its because I get more pitches I can hit. Pitches where the ball is going right to where I am looking. But if the CPU throws pitches that are strikes but not where I am looking, I take them early or fail to get my PCI on the spot and same result, outs, and ultimately more confidence for the pitcher.
I am not good at this game, but I am not the worst. this mode is tailored to people who can hit and that has always been my biggest problem. It's all about hitting.

Well I'll be the compassionate one and say I feel your pain OP. If you've ever played FIFA they have an offline Squad Battles mode which I think would have been cool to implement into The Show. You play against community squads but it's offline so you don't have to deal with mechanic exploits, comeback logic, cheese plays, and general toxicity that comes from online competitive behavior. The more games you play the better rewards you get each week. This year they tied in daily and weekly objectives to it which gives you more of an incentive to play it. I hope SDS creates something like this for next years game. It brings so much longevity to offline players (read: people who care about their mental health).

Yeah, I'll never understand this community's need to belittle offline players just because the mode says DD is an online game. Some people just dont enjoy playing other people. I have no issues with those people, if that is what you love I think it's great, everybody is entitled to enjoy the game they purchased in his or her own way. SDS has seen there are people out there that dont care about H2H supremacy and have tried to do things for us. But those people get upset because they see it as SDS wasting time trying to appease us rather than make improvements for them. They use it's an online mode to justify their behavior on these boards, instead of understanding that not everyone is like them.

Yeah it's always been a head scratcher for me. I play video games to escape from people and the world at large. It's a generational thing.
SDS makes all of their money off of DD but they've said multiple times that the most played mode is RTTS hands down. I think that's indicative to what really is driving the type of patches they have released this year. People are arguing that SDS doesn't care. They care, they just perhaps don't care about the online demographic as much as you think they do. And unfortunately the only offline mode they care about is RTTS.
But I don't collect data, so who knows?

And I won't understand the offline community complaining about a mainly online competitive mode.
SDS throws in tons of modes for your to play strictly solo offline, but you are going to complain about the one mode competitive online players have.

In my case it's because DD has an interesting, entertaining way of acquiring and improving my team that appeals far more to me than being a GM in franchise mode.

For everyone coming at me for my post. I get what you are saying but let me say this. I play online too the thing is I dont want only play online to grind for cards. That shouldn't be the only real way to do it. I don't want to spend money in order to get stubs to do exchanges. For those stat missions when you can only tally stats online is frustrating. Let me tally the stats either online or offline then I can get the cards I want and then I can take them online. That is what was saying.

I just started getting in MTO and find it to be frustratingly fun.

I play both but actually Online has three RS, BR, and events.

The only cards you have play online for rewards are RS, BR, EVENTS and the Blood Diamonds, The only cards you can not get if you do not play online are the Blood Diamonds. You can earn enough stubs and sell off duplicate cards and flip cards to get the cards you really want from those modes buy them in the market. For instance I saved my stubs last year, flapped cards and was able to get Reggie Jackson SS card that cost me 800.000 stubs I believe he was a WS reward and I am not good enough to make WS. Always away to get any card from RS, BR and Events without spending extra money. I also was able to get Ty Cobb for 240,000 last year later sold it for over 300,000.

Why do you care about how I play my game? I dont complain that I cant go 12-0 or make the WS to get all those cards. You are exactly the kind of person I was talking about.
