    Franchise is about info, not looks
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN

    This is my take. Franchise needs all the info in every screen.

    Look, anyone who manages a real team knows it's impotrant to know the stats and the fatigue of their players.

    But not The Show, in what's SUPPOSED to be the most realistic format. (That's Franchise, for those of you buying bubble-gum cards and giving more money to the producers.)

    WHY are pitchers' lefty and righty batting averages ONLY available as the pitcher comes in to the game, or if you make yourself the opposing manager and go to the bullpen and THEN look?

    Why are batting averages against lefties and righties unavailable?

    Why are hitter's fatigue NOT available DURING the game?

    The developer's got ALL THIS EXTRA RAM in the PS 4 and they chose to spend it on somersaulting graphics of elite cards in an obscure menu instead of giving managers important info during the game?

    Perfect, Sony. You're the problem. You let players (their union) make a monopoly of their images and stats - or MLB giving you "rights" to product (stats) already in the public domain.

    And then you make a game glamorising the look of the game by focusing on how a homerun or high-5 looks, instead of on the data that a manager needs.

    Give us righty/left stats and fatigue during IN GAME!

    Give us the option to turn off your (USUALLY WRONG) derermination of future performance. That is, give us a button that allows us to let our teams just use our players' stats at the start of the year without your silly, arbitrary and so often wrong prediction of future performance.

    Is this so odd? Give us facts. Give us stats. You already do the cosmetic stuff. Now let us play the game without idolizing the motion-catpture of your latest hero.

  • Pinpoint pitching worth it?
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN

    I've noticed opposing hitters don't seem to nail a pinpoint pitch out over the plate as much as they do on other modes.

    I'm not very hand-eye coordinated, but I find the pinpoint more fun than the other modes. But I probably can't play more than a game or two with it before my hand gets sore.

    By the way, don't be too proud to dial back your pitching level while you're learning. Heck, I went all the way back to Beginner for my first game.

  • Does SDS even PLAY Franchise?
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN

    If they do, then why:

    Did they not notice that, even on the PS4, you have to reload your Sounds of the Show playlist EVERY time you log into the game? Yes, they failed to save your selected songs.

    After YEARS do the still have the lefty vs righty pitching stats BACKWARDS for pitchers when you look at their stats? Yes, those are backwards from what you see in the bullpen or when a reliever comes into the game.* And they've been backwards for years*

    And why are there no lefty vs righty stats for hitters?

    And why can't we see stamina for starters and benchers in the in-game substitutions menu? Gee, as managers, wouldn't knowing how fatigued a starter was help us make a decision about pinch hitting?

    Surely, the unallocated dpad buttons when you're batting could be put to good use?

    We can hit the square button in the pause menu in a game to bring up both team's current players. WHY can't we just "triangle button" on names there to see players' stats? Why send us through the stats tab and select team, select pitchers or hitters, scroll through all, THEN finally hit "triangle."???

    I realize it would require some work, but, come on. It's been years. And this is stuff a franchise manager needs easy acess to.

  • Franchise Bug

    Agreed. And PLEASE fix the double-switch fir oitchers in the 9th inning.

  • Needed franchise info ingame
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN

    Is no one really playing in Franchise mode? Or do they just not care that no care has been given to Franchise managers for years?

    Why is Lefty-Righty info not available anywhere for pitchers except in the team's manager-bullpen screen ingame? So, they must be keeping the data, but you can't see it ANYWHERE else (in stats, in your roster, etc.) ??

    They keep Lefty-Righty hitting stats, even for pitchers, but you can't see this data during a game?

    You can't see batters' "energy during a game to help you decide who to bring in, if you want to manage the energy of your bench.

    Has anyone else noticed that the interface to the franchise mode slowly degrades over the year? This (2019) is the third version of the game where, half-way trhough a season a base hit to left field will be announced as "a foul ball down the line," after a few months. No kidding! I have no idea how that could be. By the same token, after several months, newly announced pitchers into the game will no longer show their innings, batting averages, etc., when entering mid-inning. Snd no, neither my PS3 nor PS4 showed problems with ANY other game.

    I've played computer baseball games for decades. I was the first to program Crowther and Woods' "Adventure" to a micro-computer in the mid 70s. (Really. Translated their Fortran Code, which Woods was very kind to give me the printout of, right there from Stanford, one night.) I programmed Richmond's Strat-O-Matic Baseball and Basketball onto a micro-computer in the late 70s, long before he did. (But no boffo graphics.) (And yes, I used them for my own personal use, only.)

    Since 2005 and EA's baseball game, and through The SHOW, and with Mlb 2K since 2013, I've played every year, at least 3 seasons per year, plus side games. That works oit to at least 240 thousand at bats, and 240,000 pitchers-face batters. Actually, it's much closer to half a milliion each.

    I'm not bragging. I just like baseball.

    But, a lot of info that a franchise manager needs during a game is not provided, and, as a programmer, I can SEE how it could fit on the "during-game" info screens. There is really no excuse why it isn't, . . . .. UNLESS:

    1. They don't care;
    2. They are inept;
    3. They might prefer to channel users into game formats that pay them $ over the season;
    4. They actually have no clue why a franchise manager might want real-time info on whether a .250 right handed hitter might actually hit .290 against a righty.

    Again, I think they are recording this info. They just aren't bothering to give us a UI that shows it to us.

  • Franchise should allow owners to play real baseball
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN
    1. Hitter's remaining stamina should show in-game in the Substitutions screem.

    2. Pitcher's Lefty-right stats and era should show in ALL screens, including rosters, stat screens and in-game screens.

    3. Opposing pitcher's remaining stamina and lefy right stats should be viewablt in-game without having to switch teams to the opposition.

    4. Are you really spending so much memory on graphics that are supposedly boffi that you can't let us look at future games and pitchers DURING a game?

    5. Do you get the idea? Provide info that a real life manager might really need.

  • Player stat changes during the season
  • muskratslim_PSNM muskratslim_PSN

    PLEASE give us a button to TURN OFF player stat movement during a season in Franchise mode. Your programmers are wrong at least as often as they are right. Give us the option to play with the guys we signed up.

    To be clear: Gice us the option toNOT have players gain or lose points in stats during a season in franchise mode. Between seasons? Maybe ok. But you shouldn't think you can predict what a player will do in the next season when you send the game off in April.
