I could be wrong, but there is usually a spike in the market with the influx of stubs from investments people have made. Roster updates are great to make stubs but it causes inflation. Obviously if they drop some flash sales or live diamond packs in the inning program that will throw things off. As others have said finish live series by getting the most expensive first and then worry about everything else after. LS unlocks the rest of the game and then build the team how you want it.

The one question i have always had is does a certain card perform better in a certain a in batting slot regardless of the other players. Example: will Trout hit better at leadoff or cleanup? Does not matter who hits in front of him or behind him. Does position in the lineup matter for each card. My mind tells me yes of maybe I am just over analyzing
-
I guess this might really help theme teams. Have to see the stats. Biggest question for me is how long will it take to complete? Looks like a lot on the calendar but so was Jackie and that took all of about 3 hours of play for the path and the event. We need some grind able content other than mini seasons.
-
@LadySwampfox_XBL yes solid strat. Also look at handedness. Im not saying you need all switch hitter but don't stack 3 lefty bats in a row. I feel like WBC mini, you need to focus on guys with vision. Power matters but its not like new threads mini where you play on blank canvas and you can still hit bombs. Here is what I'm rolling with (i was lucky to make a ton of stubs selling off Miggy collection cards i finished the LS)
CF Trout right (5 tool)
3b JRam switch (5 tool)
SS Tulo right (top card in the game right now)
1b Albert right speed mod makes him 5 tool
LF or DH Soto left his defense is not great, more of a DH but he can field well enough. He is my best hitter the past 3 years.
RF Tatis (6 tool, his arm counts for double)
C Biz switch
DH or LF Dealers choice here. Singleton or Bryant if you want to DH Soto, otherwise DH guys 95 Cabrera, Ohtani, Alvarez, Tucker, Manny, Schwrab, really the person you hit best with who sucks on defense. Judge's vision is almost too much to overcome but he does hit tanks.
2b Supercharged Elly switch (trying Pedroia) Lindor is a beast here, seager is solid hitting but slow on the bases. I love Witts swing so he is an option. So many good SS this year, luckily you can play them OOP most spots. Willi Casto can still get it done here.Bench
C- pick one. I have yet to love anyone catcher this season. If you have Biz and another catcher, Biz is the supreme bench guy.
Utl Figgins switch speed and can play everywhere, lacks pop, but should be a starter if you need a spot filled.
IF Witt he automatically warps to 3rd base if you pinch run with him for a guy on first.
OF Im partial to Buxton here, defense, speed, I feel like they did something to his swing, it used to be butter two years ago. Otherwise look at defense and speed, Rafaela would be my second than PCA. -
Yeah the auto generate best squad is broken. Or atleast how it values cards. I know one time I tried it it gave me the 3 worst possible defenders with no speed at every OF position. You truly need to make the lineup to your liking. What do you value? Speed? defense? Power? Balanced hitting? Or maybe there are just guys to rake with. Overall really does not matter. I think the cpu tends to value power over everything else and the they put vision as the least important. I mean your team is solid. Cal was amazing for me the first couple weeks of the game, then we got better pitchers and his bad vision really shows. Trout always hits leadoff for me. Jram has excelled in the two spot, switch hitter with a bit of everything. The rest are a toss up. I don't know every card you have but I would look to move Hank to the bench, put Correa at SS and Jram at 3rd. That opens up the DH and gives you tons of options. Banana is solid but SS do just fine at 2nd base. Elly as a replacement? Grind for Konner Griffen he is free and is 5 tooled. LS Lindor or Seager are great if you have some stubs to invest. All are viable 2b replacements. Almost forgot spotlight mcGonagle solid. I never tried Ahn because he was the last leg of the WBC I finished but some love him. Alonso plays and I like him hitting in the back half, nice to have pop in the 8 spot. I haven't used Anderson or Correa much but stats are good, not sure I like their swings.
Bench- I would move Hank there we rounded plays a bunch of positions, decent speed but nothing special . Varitek stays unless you swap him with Cal, or have one catch and one DH. Then pick any two speed guys. PCA and Rafaela are cheap and over great defense in the OF also. -
Great write up OP. As a Red Sox fan I hope they dont turn it around and Breslow ends up getting fired. He might be a worse GM than Nico Harrison the former Mavs GM. A manager cant be blamed if he has nothing to work with and this guy has made a ton of headscratcher moves that you mentioned. If your goig to build your team around Bregman great but you better make sure he signs with you. Tons of youth on the team but that is not always a good thing. You have to have some vets to hold it together. You also cant have 5 OF on the field at once so how about trading one?
As for the rest of the list. Philly is just way too old. You cant keep falling short and running it back with mostly the same squad and think the results will be different. Crazy part is on paper they look amazing, they have starters, hitters and a lock down closer. Philly usually does make any huge plays at the deadline, acquiring Duran last season was huge and totally out of character. I dont see how they get over the hump with their current roster.
I dont ever see the Giants being relevant. Dodgers completly dominate that division and I think playing a home is actually a disadvantage to the team they have built. They overpay for mediocre free agents because no one wants to play their.
Astros have pretty much every abled body that can pitch on the DL. I guess if they could get healthy they could make some noise but they are in the same boat as the Phillys with a mid team that they seem to subtract from every offseason as they get older.
So my best guess is the Mets will turn it around. They suck, their offseason additions never really added up. Starting pitching is suspect, Devin Willaims is not a consitent closer, and they started their #1 Prospect Benge on opening day. I pick them only because I am sure they will make some trades and throw mony at problems so they sneak into the playoffs and are promptly eliminated. -
@Auburn2525_XBL The fact that it is a monopoly is a huge advantage to SDS. They know they can get by by doing the minimum and still have people playing because they are the only game in town. It would be nice to have some competition to give them a reason to do better.
I also wonder if the studio is cutting jobs to save money. Maybe they cant push more content because there is not enough of them. Seems like over the years they have less and less of people on stream. Not sure it that means anything. Maybe this also explains their lack of communication to the community? -
LOL. I had to go back and look at the post to see how it actually worked out. I sold every sellable card I had when the collection dropped. Was able to piece together close to 500k and bought Judge to finish live series. I still had enough sets to get the 95 Miggy. Going to be a while before I make it to the 99. I do know that now I will never finish the WBC collection until the last inning where they release the bosses again. Hopefully they will also have a way to get past event cards and inning path cards.
-
That WBC content was fire to start the year which was promising but you are correct not a whole lot to do right now. I am not sure why people were so against multiple TA's. They gave tons of cards and made you get creative with adding players to you lineup you would not normally use. I would rather grind for those cards and never saw them a roadblock to collections. If anything they helped lower collection cost from a stubs point of view. Yes there is the big TA path. But that is a long term grind that requires content to get all of that PXP. Constant mini season play throughs are going to make this game feel very boring, very fast. It already feels stale. We need more conquests (that are repeatable with sellable rewards or packs), more DQ even if not many like it and more complete programs. Egg Hunt and St. Pats programs seemed half baked. Programs with no collection cards? Are you kidding. The mexico series is cool but the whole program took maybe 3 hours between the conquest and the event to get 4 mid cards. Even the muliplayer reward path and past events seem quick to progresss through, and I say that as someone who prefers offline. I know SDS banks on the fact that they are the only MLB game but there are hundreds of non MLB video games available to play.

@Ditka06_MLBTS no worries. Plenty of posts about the negative aspects of the game. The frustrating part is SDS knows the short comings of their game and they dont are unable to fix it.
So we can't control SDS or gameplay fixes but we can help out each other. Especially since some of the people have played way longer than me. Market and collection advice is one thing I do value, even though much of is speculation, but maybe someone knows inside info or has deciphered clues. Much bigger brains than me. -
@Ditka06_MLBTS sorry all my future posts will be about how I hate this game and how it is unfair and how bad SDS. Sorry you had to read my nonsense post.
However, are you so sure people are really going to go hard after Miggy since Albert is already out there? I guarantee if they drop those prerelease packs in the shop or free packs in the conquest, some cards are screwed. How quick will egg hunt and st pats guys drop if they are not in a set? There are a lot of variables at play, hence my nonsense post. -
So basically he will be a slower version of Albert without OF secondary.
-
Got some cards sitting around that can be sold (murakami, acuna, kershaw, egg cards, st pattys). Sell now on speculation or wait to see what really is needed for collection? I guess either way I can lose out on stubs?
-
My pulls have been all over the place this year. Was really lucky at the three weeks. Cal, Acuna, 3 Wheelers, OHTANI!. Then not so much. I know I had one run of 75 regular packs without a diamond. Last run of 50 or so packs and 20 plus Ballin packs this week has been solid, a nice amount of diamonds but most were 85s and a Mookie who does not sell for much. On a side note, is there a way to see how many total packs you have opened? I dont see it. I have completed a ton of mini seasons, so I would be interested to see my totals.

@Onix_Savage22_PSN Great answer. I would also add
-1st and 2nd inning path players
-those players in the first multiplayer path. Most people sold these off at QS but they are going to need them for collections.
-
I think it is a coin toss. The fact that they didnt make them a collection for either one of them when they were released was weird. They also have not given out any of these packs again in any of the rewards paths, conquests, miniseasons, etc. after each program was released. This leads me to beleive they will not be needed. With that said, I could see them requiring both just to make the collection that harder (more expensive) to obtain. Then a week or so after the collection on April 24 they make those packs available again in the store, causing prices to crash. I have all St Pats that I bought for QS (except for Trout). Egghunt has always been way too pricey so I only have the low levels and Montgomery. Im hoping both are in it and I will liquadate all my auctionable cards to buy Judge, he is the last card I need for LS. I comes down to "Does SDS want to make collections easy for more engagement or harder so people have to buy stubs?" We all know the most likely answer.
-
All I ask is fix the menu screen and lineup crashes. I will then look the other way for the 100 other bugs not fixed.
-
SDS wants more people online and the only way to do it is a reward path that puts you at a disadvantage if you dont do it. All problems would be solved if online and offline played the same, you would see more people playing online. Offline is smooth, pci placement and pitch feedback are accurate. Online plays sluggish, sometimes players look like they are in quicksand, and then off course you have to worry about the person you are playing againsts doing something stupid. Some past versions of the show I enjoyed the online challenge. This year its get in, get the pathic event rewards and multiplayer path complete and get out of online play.
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN if I recall each collection you could miss one or two cards depending on how many were released in that series. This collection is kind of early so will they tune down the requirements? Depends on the collection card OVR. Will they add series like Topps Now? Maybe Awards with the cards released today? I have St. Patrick's ready to go if that is an option. It really is just speculation.
-
Push for LS. When the collection drops, you can probably liquidate all the cards you have saved up for collections and buy Judge. I'm riding the fence on this one. I have most cards for collections with a few dupes, I can go either way but finishing LS should be the first priority. It opens up the rest of the game and helps with collections.
