to clarify, yes you can quit out of a game which will essentially simulate the result, but its always a loss. Its not like simming franchise where you win half the games.

Yes, you can. You can cross-play in any variation. Although, I don't know that it would be considered cross-play across different gens of the same make (ie PS4 to PS5).
