Why some believe in scripting or tilting
  • J j9milz

Tell me if this is how most your games go. You're up against a guy who flails, Can't square a ball to save his life. You square balls, only try to hit balls in zone and get decent to good contact on all balls you put in play. Finally you're rewarded get some hits to drop get a lil lead. Feel like you should be up more but whatever long as you keep pitching well you should be able to win. All of sudden here we go. Weak ball finds gape, weak ball finds gap. Next batter perfect pitch nowhere near the zone ends up in the perfect location Bam 3 run shot. Youre down but you manage to take the lead back, he goes back to flailing and not being able to square a ball, you are putting balls in play not being rewarded Aaaand it happens again. Weak grounder to gap, weak grounder to gap, next batter perfect input hittable location Bam 3 run shot. Step up with 1 last shot to win, all your hits are right at someone or warning track(did manage to hit 1 this game) and Game over.

Now im just saying i find it hard to believe that SOMEHOW this guy can only line up a ball on perfect input pitches in critical situations. With 1 being a moonshot wkth Biaz against Kluber(68 power vs righties) and George springer( don't know his stats) 6 hits, 4 weakly hit balls to put men on base and 2 HR right after??? But I'll just listen to evryone who says the game is fine and Just Get Better.

By far easiest and quickest moments I've done So far. Dude crushed any and evrything even remotely close to center pci and it was Fun. now this is how I want moments to feel lol.

Wonder how you guys feel about it.
Instead of actually fixing pitching, seems like they decided to fix it by just giving every pitcher a sinker

Fastballs are meat. As usual, instead of fixing the problem with the game they resolved the issue by giving everyone a sinker to substitute for the fastball.

Bad sign when instead of trying to fix a problem, they just give you cheese to "balance" the problem.

Just stop with this, you dont like the game then dont play. You are not getting your money back no matter how much noise you make. Does the game get fix and these issue go away who knows but at this point it is what it is. Now you have to make a choice play or not play.

How can other game studios be releasing patches and this joke studio does nothing?

do you go to the grocery store, buy some milk, drink half of it, then try to return it ?

if this is such a joke studio, try to find a better baseball game out there

I mean if its spoiled or bad then yeah

@sersimpleton said in Just too many “feels bad” moments each game:

I’m sorry but the developers really need to investigate their idea of what makes a game fun to play.

There are too many things that happen that are out of the player’s control, and that seriously detracts from the enjoyment of playing MLB.

Perfectly executed pitches either miss the strike zone or float right down the middle regardless of the pitcher’s control and bb/9 attributes, outfielders make way too many errors that you cannot prevent from happening, and contact outcomes are all over the place - sometimes balls in the center of the pci are ‘okay’ and other times it’s a perfect, while balls on the fringe of the inner circle may get ‘good’ contact results. Then the actual outcome from those contact results seems even more arbitrary, square ups and goods are outs too often, okays and jam shots too frequently wind up resulting in soft hits.

These frustrating parts of the game even carry over to offline play, which in previous titles used to provide a reprieve from all the online nonsense. There’s no escape anymore, now the game will aggravate you no matter what mode you choose.

For those of us who have bought MLB the Show every year for the ps3 and ps4, I cannot imagine how you aren’t disappointed in what it has become.

Funny. Was just sitting here thinking the same thing. Haven't been playing much lately, especially online, but figured hey just do the Jackie missions just for the f of it. And like you said, can't even get relief there. Every hit has negative EV and something that should be relaxed just to get a few rewards is even more aggravating.

Added a progress tracker to the Team Affinity home menu.

We added the current completion percentage below each team logo in the TA main menu.

Being able to switch through teams from TA menu, instead of always having to go back to main menu. Not the biggest deal but would welcome it if its doable

I agree. It’s like people think SDS is going to reward them for sticking up for them. The reality is they took our money without properly testing the game.

I bought this game to enjoy all the components. if I bought a car with two missing wheels, it’s useless. The current state of fielding and pitching make this “car” not drivable..

Man with the way some people defend this game sometimes im starting think they do get rewarded or something. They act like quality control

  • Wanna know what I love about this game?
  • J j9milz

My favorite is when playing the cpu and how alert and urgent they are when throwing the ball in. Yet my outfielders take their time and throw lobs with 90+ arm strength. Lol

  • SDS please take friendly quit out . ITS SOFT
  • J j9milz

I ain't gonna lie, Im kinda of tired of it, between constantly getting them and people constantly trying to cheese friendly quit(running pause timer down) it does get annoying. On top of that seems like when I don't accept friendlies I have some of the worst/ weirdest games.

  • Fielding issues are running the integrity of this game.
  • J j9milz

The jogging animation is the worst. Running full speed to get to a ball with a man on 3rd. Instead of getting to the ball as fast as possible to get in position to make athrow. Game decideds to put me in a horrible slow jogging animation just to lazily catch the ball and slowly through in the infield with NO URGENCY at all.

Listen I have played this game since 2015 online with all the bullSHIZNIT people do with- bunt dancing and speed cheesing etc that would drive us all insane....but I've never experienced something so ridiculously vile as what I just had in an event game.

55 FRICKing minutes because the guy (DM me for username so you can block him also) literally changed his team name to "quitoriwasteyourtime" and proceeded to run the pause timer down to nearly zero every inning, hold r2 the max time allotted, purposely take every batter to three ball counts while waiting the maximum time allowed between pitches and making sure to step off and throw over the max amount of times allotted.

I took the lead on a HR late in the game, after which he did his usual running the pause timer down and then tried to make my game freeze for a freeze off (it did for like 20 seconds) but I got the win.

I know sds never checks reports so good luck on that but at least you can block him and save yourself from being bullied into ruining a 12 and 0 run because some idiot does this and declines the friendly quit to force you to sit there and deal with the chode or quit your run.

Imagine doing all that just to still lose lmao

It just seems like everyone is speculating even more than before.

Not really. Some just don’t believe in the facts and are here looking for confirmation bias.

They have literally said there is a ton of factors that go into how a ball is hit and reacts. They just can’t show you all of it because that would take up the whole screen.

They gave us a little more feedback is all. They said pitch location and I believe angle too plays a part in it. People think every pitch they hit perfect perfect should equal same result. Physics does not work like that. What was speed if pitch ? Angle of pitch? Rotation? Was hit on seems? What was the spin? Break? Cold weather or humid or hot ( yes that makes a difference due to how it effects the ball )?

Some people just can’t accept the fact that things are not always the same, but they sure seem to know to pick Shippet Field and Coors field for home runs lol

Well maybe instead of being so vague about the hitting and even pitching mechanics maybe they should just come out and let us know just how much and how many layers of rng we are facing when trying to execute actions in the game. Instead of hey here's a brand new feature to further explain that will only show up for a half a second every at bat.

Hell the fact that check swings have little or almost nothing to do with input or they animations they cause says alot in itself.

I think there is no RNG. Just a ton of variables that go into the outcome. Too many variables for them to list. Let’s be honest , you are in the small minority of players ( players as every user logging into game, not forums posters ) that can’t accept the fact they don’t have every info given to them. I call these people the “why” people. Never satisfied with anything

What do you think variables in a video game are. RNG. Most players just want to know how much of it am i fighting vs my user input. They say things like "pitch location matters" with no other info or example of why or even how much it matters.

Example if I hit a perfect/perfect flyball with a 100+ power hitter and its only warning track power. Why is that, What Mattered in the algorithm other than my user input for that ball not to result in a no doubt shot. Is it because the pitxh was inside and he's labeled as an opposite field hitter? How much of the pitcher's confidence is factoring in to a solidly hit ball. did the wind factor in?etc etc.

You say I want to know everything but thats not true, how about just a general idea of whats happening in this game. Again everything is vague, pitch location, launch angles, wind etc etc with no example or general idea of how they actually matter or work and that my friend is called RNG.

If you ever played real baseball, you would already know the answers. Pitch location and pitch type matters a whole lot.

When I say baseball. , little league or anything counts. Any organized baseball would of taught you this. Hell, even google will inform you on pitch mechanics. Maybe try reading articles in physics of baseball?

Bruh its a video game. Tell me in real life when ever a pitchers confidence have stopped a guys from hitting a hr on a ball down the middle. All this irl, I've played baseball talk is irrelevant when it comes to a game. Because YOU played baseball and squared up a ball many times it resulted it easy outs doesn't apply to aome of the greatest hitters of our time. There's a reason we are playing with them and not YOU. and to piggy back off of that there have plenty of guys in all sports who played at a major league level becausw of their talent but still don't have an high i.q or even high intelligence of the sport they played and succeeded. So stop with I played baseball back in middle school, I know what im talking about stuff.

Again this is a video game. Where developers program codes, animations, variables etc to determine outcomes when you play. For example if i play shooter, If i hit someone in the head, the damage is calculated by factors the developers have implented in the game. Strength of weapon, armor etc etc so that all every time you get a consistent outcome. We still don't even know why perfect input pitches are being hung other than "it depends on the pitchers confidence and stamina oh yeah and also his bb/9 and control." Thats as vague as it gets.

Perfect example take a game like 2k while not on of the best games. I understand that when my players are tired(stamina) they lose attribute points. So a 90 3pt attribute can drop down to 80 depending on that players stamina. Question does a pitcher lose attribute points when his confidence and/or stamina is low?? And how much?? Say he is below 50% how many points may he lose. And if he does lose attributes when he gets tired about when does he begin to lose the 90%?? 75%, 50% See that??? Simple question about the game and how things works.

I do decently so its not about oh you're just not good enough blah blah. I just don't know why things are happening most times im playing. Why is my ss jogging to a ball over his head he could easily get too if he were actually running. Why is my outfielder taking along stride to throw a ball in. Why does my cutoff hesitatr on already preloaded throws like he doesnt know which base to throw too instead of just throwing to tje base i already told him too. WHY is my pitch in the dirt hung with high confidence and High energy and good input. Simple questions about game mechanics.

@CalisGW said in Update 1.13 Discussion:

Depends on velocity actually and spin of the ball. Just because it left at 0 degree angle doesn’t mean it will stay flat. Gravity, spin, humidity and so and so factor in it. Good example is if you have the ball trail on. Ball hit curves a lot and some times stays straight. Depends on pitch and batter swing.

You getting to focus on expecting same results on every batter and every pitch. Pitch and swing make huge difference.

Gravity, humidity lmao bruh every post you got some new form of rng. Does it matter what day it is? Do i have a better chance on a Monday or Friday?? What about jersey colors?? Maybe the bat is going through a terrible break up?? The ball left the bat at 102miles. Should of never even touch the infield.
