Need to fix this. When pro infielders dive for balls IRL, almost every time they either glove it or the ball is just beyond their reach. In RTTS, there are way too many times when CPU infielders dive and the ball bounces off their glove, arm, or torso. The logic for the diving animation is messed up.

@Sarge1387_PSN The CPU fielding is very arcadey for a simulation style game. The speed at which fielders get an accurate throw off after gloving the ball is unrealistic. The infielders can stop on a dime when their momentum was taking them in the opposite direction of a base and still make perfect throws to that base. I saw a left fielder chase a ball to the warning track, pick it up with his back to the infield, and then instantly turn around and throw a perfect strike to third base all in one motion. No crow hop at all.

Just turned 50. I play legend in RTTS but I have to turn down the CPU pitching fastball and off-speed sliders to the lowest speed. Otherwise, I'm late on every fastball unless I fully commit to fastball and I have no chance to hit off-speed if I guess wrong. To make up for that, I raise the CPU pitching accuracy almost to the maximum. This way, I get the hardest pitch sequences the game has to offer, and I have to be able to hit pitches on the edges of the zone, and I give myself a chance to still make contact if I don't guess the speed correctly.

The game's pop up physics are broken for low pitches. I have a challenge for the developers. Go to some place where you can take some swings at pitches thrown overhand and make sure the pitches all come through the zone below the knees. You probably won't hit one low pitch straight up in the air. If you do make contact under the ball, what's far more likely to happen is a foul tip that goes straight back with no air under it.
I understand that in video game logic, it makes perfect sense that pressing the swing button with the PCI under a low pitch at the right spot results in an infield pop up. However, that's really hard to do with a real life swing because you would have to actually be on your knees at the point of contact with the ball. I don't see how you could be on your knees and still make hard enough contact under the ball to generate the spin and velocity required to pop the ball straight up in the air. There may be some rare IRL infield pop ups on 12:00 to 6:00 curve balls on uppercut swings from contact made below the knees, but there are way too many infield pop ups in this game on pitches below the knees with little or no downward break.

Just make it skippable! Make all the cutscenes skippable!! I die a little inside every time I have to mash the buttons to speed through the performance reviews with the manager. Why are those unskippable? Why???

You have to make your own fun in RTTS because it gets stale real fast otherwise. If you're expecting an engaging narrative or any surprises, RTTS isn't that kind of game mode. If you're willing to challenge yourself as a hitter and adjust the sliders and difficulty to see how hard you can make the game and still hit like .380, then it can be really fun. I only hit now in RTTS. No pitching, no defense, and no base running when my teammates are hitting. I think the hitting against the CPU pitching aspect of MLB The Show has consistently been the best PVE thing in sports video games for a while, so I maximize my enjoyment of RTTS by only engaging with the hitting.

Taking pitches is part of working the count as a hitter. The only type of "bad take" is a called third strike. The bad take penalty needs to be removed for everything other than a called third strike.

Playing the Series X version on game pass, I've found the game to be a little laggy in some animations but not enough to be a problem. I haven't seen the issues you're seeing, and the game pass version of 23 ran better than 24 does.

I exclusively play RTTS so I don't know if the CPU pitches differently in other modes. I have usually played at all star hitting difficulty until switching to hall of fame in 2023. What I've noticed in RTTS for both difficulty levels (more so with Hall of Fame) is that the CPU throws too many breaking balls way off the plate in 3-2 counts. For example, there are too many times when I'll be batting with no one on base and the score is like 8-1 (I'm losing), and the CPU will get behind 2-0 or 3-0, throw consecutive strikes to get back to 3-2, and then throw a breaking ball way off the plate. This even happens in all star games and spring training.
I enjoy the challenge of the nastier CPU pitch patterns on the higher difficulty levels but I also think that nastiness needs to align better with the situation. MLB pitchers don't risk walks in exhibitions or when the score is lopsided in meaningful games. If an MLB pitcher wants to pitch around someone, they're not going to waste pitches getting behind, fighting back to even, and then trying to get the hitter to chase way out of the zone on 3-2. They would just intentionally walk or throw 4 straight balls.
Baseball would be a very different game if pitchers routinely threw breaking balls way off the plate in 3-2 counts regardless of the situation. The higher difficulty AI should be smart enough to know when it makes sense to intentionally go out of the zone on 3-2. With first base open in a tight game, it makes sense. With no open base in any game, it doesn't make sense. In spring training and all star games, it doesn't make sense.
This game at higher difficulty levels doesn't reward the player for working deep into the count. It's not reasonable to expect the player to protect against fastballs and account for a breaking ball way out of the zone in every 3-2 count regardless of the situation. I'm okay with a tough pitch in a corner or on the edge, but pitches that aren't even close is taking it too far.

Batting practice is a real missed opportunity so far for this series. It's cool that you can customize pitch and location, but it would be really cool if the game analyzed your swings and automatically selected pitches you are having problems with. Like, "Okay, I see that you haven't made solid contact on the last 5 sliders down and in. So, the next 5 pitches are going to be down and in sliders. To hit this pitch, it's important to be early with your PCI movement to the inside corner and not be late with your swing."
The default batting practice setting of all pitches and all locations doesn't make any sense unless you're practicing protecting the plate with 2 strikes. Otherwise, batting practice should be about dialing in your timing and then working on specific things once your timing feels good. Having the game automatically guide you through that process would add so much value. If the devs added this functionality as reasonably priced paid extra content, I would pay for it. Also, you should be able to take optional structured batting practice before each game and earn some XP, equipment, or perks based on how well you do.
Those who know, know that batting practice is the funnest part about playing baseball IRL. The fact that this game hasn't capitalized on that at all after all this time is crazy. With AI and machine learning, imagine the possibilities for an AI personal hitting instructor that helps you during batting practice? This game has so much room to be better as a single player experience.

Hitable means something different as you increase the base difficulty. On the higher difficulties, you can see 20 or more pitches sometimes without getting one in the middle of the zone, so what's hitable in those circumstances is anything that catches any part of the zone. The only way you can make the CPU throw a lot of pitches up the middle is by setting the difficulty to something below All Star. On the difficulty levels I've played in many different versions of RTTS, I've had several stretches during every season where the CPU mostly stays on the edges of the zone and tests your patience. RTTS has always been like that.
CPU infielder diving needs work
Flight time on line drives, etc.
Any old farts good at this game?
Infield pop ups on low pitches?
Post game interview
Is RTTS worth it?
Bad take with less than 2 strikes?
My word this game is bad
RTTS 3-2 count CPU pitching strategy needs work
Batting practice can be SO much better!
CPU pitching is horrible even with the sliders maxed out
