Yeah I’m an online player but I prefer to do most of my grinding offline. Why would they do this? If you get 30 strikeouts and 30 hits in a play vs cpu game you get 7500 xp. 10 innings pitched if you strike out every batter and 30 hits, and you barely get any progress. I mean honestly, why would they do this?

I might be done with the game. I was planning to grind for a while tonight but I’ll just go play something else that isn’t a boring and unrewarding grind, for items that I won’t be able to use a month from now.

They’ve successfully taken the best part of their game (grinding was very rewarding) and ruined it. Play the game for 6 hours and you’ll 3000 xp and maybe a few packs here and there. If you can’t go flawless 10 times the only way to make stubs is to pull high diamonds out of show packs or buy them. They’ll probably see numbers plummet at the end of season 1

I got two golds in the jumbo pack and all golds in the vault pack. Thank you SDS!

When I read the TA3 offline requirements, I thought "what in the world???". It's so fragmented and random. Ick.

I just scored almost 30 runs against the CPU, and barely made any progress. Full AL East TA lineup and I didn't even get the 1500 PXP. Other teams have pitchers so they will be quicker, but still ridiculous.

The conquest save mission might be the most egregious. No TA progress at all outside of PXP with pitchers in conquest unless you purposefully stop scoring runs at 4, so holding you back in other missions just to get a save. Really really bad design.

@TPRwell_XBL same here. Just 0 motivation to do any of this. All of the TA cards are bad. They released one good card today that is actually attainable right now and it’s in a chase pack. I’ve already grinded for a bunch of collection fodder just to earn cards that will have to be put away within weeks, I don’t think I can bring myself to do all that again

The thought of filling out a lineup to do TA missions for the FOURTH time in only 3 months makes me feel a physical reaction. It sounds like actual torture. Obviously I'm being dramatic when I say that but I don't see myself coming back to play this game again.

The best part of 21 and 22 was that if you put in a lot of time and effort to grind things out, you could unlock the collection cards as they release and just play ranked or whatever mode you wanted when you felt like it. Now they are condensing the entire game cycle that typically lasts around 9-10 months and trying to do that 3 times. Gatekeeping what cards we can and can't use, releasing cards in packs that are only good for a week or two and not worth using stubs on. At least in 23 there was some overlap when seasons reset so the grinding was kind of worth your time, this year every single card is just made totally unusable except 1. The TA cards are atrocious and the online modes are stale. They said they fixed foul balls but I haven't played since then so I'll take their word for it. They can't even monetize properly, just go full EA casino mode if you're gonna make your product bad anyways.

Just ranting, but I think I'm actually thankful because my life honestly feels better without this game taking up 2-4 hours of my time per day. I've been playing all the old Fallout games, preparing for the new Elden Ring DLC, exercising more, reading books I've been meaning to read. NCAA coming out will be awesome, but I think overall I am done with these card collecting modes. They use the same manipulative and awful game design that mobile games use and I want to thank SDS for finally removing my blindfold and letting me see truly how much of my time I wasted the last few years on their product.

I am torn between giving them credit for doing what they should’ve done all year, and shaming them for waiting until literally the week before NCAA football comes out to release actual good content.

Right now in the game there are no overalls higher than a 95 earnable for free, unless BR and/or WS rewards are that high. And the one 95 I’m thinking of is the lightning player, everything else is like a 93 or lower. I don’t know, I’ve barely played the game since S2 started.

So it looks like they’re now adding 99s for free (at least one?), 95s in TA, and adding basically free missions that give thousands of TA points. I think I’m still too burnt out from the awful grinding of the first two months to even come back for free 99s.

This is incredibly tone deaf. Not even close to what the complaints were. One new conquest map that has to be repeated 20 times is not more content. How big of a shill and boot licker do you have to be to think the way you idiots do.

Because you are reading challenged... what he is saying is people whined nonstop that they were bored and had nothing to do because CH1 was quick to complete so SDS has counteracted that by making it take longer so that no one will be whining that they are bored in a week.

People wanted more things to do and their solution was to give less things to do and make team affinity even more of a grind. What point are you trying to make?

I also played one game of BR without Wade Boggs and got the egg again for anyone wondering. I think they added it back as just play a game.

@doobiebross66-72 yeah they’re literally just milking us for all the cash they can get us to spend before they see player numbers drop and then they’ll start giving us stuff. I’m sure the content people and devs know this and hate it, but unfortunately micro transactions have become the goal of this industry

They have gone full on digital casino mode but they’ve done it terribly. At least in EA games if you spend real money you’re spending real money for “points” and then you spend those points on packs that give you cards you can sell for the main in game currency. You can pull the minimum but you’re still coming out with more in game currency than you had before you spent money.

In this game you can just buy in game currency directly, and that’s the only way to buy packs, which give you terrible odds of getting anything good. Buy 150k stubs for 100 dollars, and you’re left with like 25-30k after you buy 3 choice packs and a monthly awards pack and pull the minimum. There’s literally 0 incentive to buy these packs because you’re just lighting stubs on fire.

So what should we even be doing? I just pulled a duplicate Corey Seager today and I have 110k stubs now, but with 97s being the top of the power curve, I would have to spend 62k on a 92 ovr Oswaldo Cabrera from months ago to add to my switch hitting team. Or 100k on Ian happ or elly de la Cruz. Goodrum is 160k stubs. The in game economy is totally [censored] and it’s because the only way they’re dropping the good cards are via 30k and 40k packs that aren’t worth the risk of buying, and they’re not giving them out anywhere.

Yeah that’s how being a consumer works. You pay for a product and if there are issues with that product you try to communicate that to the manufacturer of said product. Sliders are broken. Foul balls allow players to stay in at bats they don’t belong in. These things need to be complained about because they make our experience playing the game worse and if SDS wanted to they could fix them.

I feel like the group that just likes to complain about other people complaining are mostly offline players and If you’re only playing against the CPU offline then these issues barely impact you. If something doesn’t impact you then you should let the impacted people voice their opinion without defending the multi million dollar corporation for no reason. If they did fix these issues it wouldn’t change rookie CPU gameplay so who even cares? The only people who don’t want this stuff changed are the people who are kept in games they shouldn’t be in by foul balls lol

@chucky97___ They have tuned things in the past. It is possible to tune things without creating an entirely new hitting engine. Which, again, I agree that is something they need to do but obviously that is not reasonable to suggest they do mid year.

To your second point, yeah, I agree, players who suck just slam their PCI around and foul everything off. That is what people are complaining about. If your point is that they do this on purpose to keep those players engaged then I also agree this is probably the case. I disagree that we should just accept that and never voice our opinions about it.

I don't think we disagree on anything regarding the game/how it plays. I just think it is actually a good thing for people to voice their frustrations, and you seem to think that as consumers we are just supposed to lay down and accept whatever we are given, but these companies have shown time and time again that with enough push back from their players they will change things.

So again you are probably going to reply to this and say "well they won't change anything because blah blah blah" and I'm not going to waste any more time responding that I agree with you on most of your analysis about this game and how it plays at the moment. I just think people should complain about things that can be changed and that are bad in a game, especially when a large group of people agree on it- plenty of the youtube guys/streamers are saying this same stuff on twitter.

They’re not going to talk about anything on the stream except for today’s content drop which has been planned for months. I think the real “make or break” will be when S2 starts.

@Dolenz Same, but now we just don't get anything but PXP when pitching in conquest. This is one of the most tone deaf content drops I can remember. I keep coming here to comment about it because it is truly mind blowing

I feel your frustration though. This TA drop is really bad. Basically forcing us to play online, where every other event game is a home run derby against some cracked out kid who should be playing on legend lol.

You’re right, it has become basically a job. 2 more weeks of grinding TA, BR, events and ranked and only then will I be able to maybe unlock Willie mays, the only collection card I really care about. Then I’ll have to play the game as much as possible over the next two weeks if I want to enjoy the fruits of my labor before the reset.

Also I’ve already done the whole TA grind twice. There should be some sort of collection to give TA points for just collecting all of TA1 and TA2. Especially if they’re going to make me do TA 6 more times after this.

They should honestly consider extending season 1. I play this game way too much and I’m not sure even I can justify continuing to play this game after all these cards become useless.

Chapter 1 was a normal team affinity, chapter 2 at first glance looked like it would take longer but actually flew by because of the repeatable boss missions, and now chapter 3 is just a major time suck. I played for probably 6 hours this weekend (not including the ~3-4 hours for the extreme showdown which i finished) and was able to get the AL East finished and NL West to like 50%, and that was with burning all my stubs on some exchanges. NL East, AL/NL Central, and AL West are all at like 10-20% from just using pitchers from those teams occasionally. Probably a 24 hour grind if you're really efficient about it, give or take a few hours based on how quickly you can finish the extreme showdown.

They are literally just milking us via FOMO by making the collection rewards harder to reach. You've put 100 hours into our game over the last two months grinding all the free content you're used to? Aw man, you still don't have that Willie Mays you want that has been sitting there in the collections tab all year? That sucks! Better give us a few hundred dollars so you can get there in the collections and use him for the next 3 weeks!

An unfortunate consequence of this game making it hard to acquire a lot of high end cards is that you have to prioritize when building a team. I would love to try out the Kershaw team, or Ortiz, but I don't have any more stubs. I spent them all on finishing the S1 collection. Also it should have been so obvious that everyone would use a switch hitter captain, they probably just shouldn't have released it. No matchup disadvantages and an extra 12 to both contacts and clutch.

But the biggest thing is they can turn around and drop switch hitters they know people want in chase and choice packs (Goodrum, Adley, Ozzie), give them three weeks to use them, sit back and watch the stub sales pour in.

It says on the content release that it will be available by Monday the 15th, not sure if that was an edit or what it said originally
