@NWOStunna No Negro league list is complete without Cool Papa Bell. While he is noted for his base stealing abilities, people forget he started in the league as a pitcher.

@The-Buddy9 I was just reading his bio on the SABR site and it was an interesting read, especially how some of the veteran pitchers felt about him during his early days.
Regardless of that, imagine how powerful a card he would get with a nickname "the left hand of God".

@fubar2k7 I was not really following their feeds. I still had 3000 days on the timer, and figured I still had time.
I was more scared than mad. I was literally opening packs when the message popped up and it didn't read like a normal "disconnected" message and I thought maybe I got a ban somehow.
I still will be doing RTTS, and I guess it's time to experiment with march to October. If I play vs cpu will I still be able to access the cards I acquired?
-
The biggest bummers for me were:
I had just completed a program where I had 14 packs to open
Prestige program casualties
Dwight Evans needed just 1 more RBI
Craig Biggio needed 3 runs scored
Mike Trout needed 7 runs scored
Christian Yelich needed 10 hits and 12 runs scored -
Bummer as I literally just opened a rewind pack and got a hard to get player and was doing well. Good news is I guess I don't have to worry about cheesers messing me up.
Will wait until after 24 has launched for a while before considering getting. Funny thing is the timer still said 3,000 plus days. Finally was getting better at online hitting too. Went from .167 to .199 and was hoping to clear the mendoza line.

Sometimes I hold out the bunt and then pull back to hit.
Doing that is one thing, but with the bunt dancing, it is usually just one of many things these sub human cheating cheesers do. When they bunt dance with ever batter, you can bet your last dollar they will also be quick pitching, using all outlier starters in relief, exploit animations, choose rain, and usually have the loser clown uniforms too.
I no longer have the tolerance for this garbage, because 9 times out of 10 SDS will reward this type of gameplay, and no matter how many times they are reported suffer zero consequences. I simply walk away. I don't need to deal with sub human trash. If they get their points towards a ranking they don't deserve so be it.
Toxic players need lifetime bans, but SDS could care less about players who cheat, but if anyone gets so much as ONE stub in a manner they don't like they can't ban that player fast enough.
-
@BiigD008 Or better yet, lock them in the bunting position after the second time and they do the back and forth and have no choice but to watch me throw a ball out of the zone for a free strike.

Sorry, but MVP 05 blows the show out of the water.

I would not see the point of the pitcher grooving the majority of the pitches. Sure it would make the easier difficulties more of a cakewalk but the players who play at those difficulties would never graduate to the higher difficulties and never be able to compete online.
But then that's on the player. Playing offline is more fun for me because I don't have to deal with the cheaters and the goons. If I want to smash my way to victory offline, that's on me. Why have difficulty options if you are going to make them all play the same?
SDS spends way too much time catering to the 1 percent of online players. 99 percent of the people playing this game are on rookie/veteran because it's just too [censored] hard.
AI difficulty isn't really more challenging, it's just that the AI defense cheats more blatantly.
-
Another day, another cheeser rewarded. Played a guy, domed stadium, roof open, rainy conditions, bunt cheese rewarded on a pitch not even near the zone, pick off throw, have him nailed, only to have the ball conveniently pull the player away from the runner.
Have had multiple games lately where pitches that nearly hit the batter in the hand are perfectly placed bunts that end up with a hit, pitcher confidence goes down, and it is all down hill.
SDS will ALWAYS reward the cheater.
-
@YOSHI24 The simple solution for the R2 button is remove the need for it. Put the pitch locations for that at bat on the screen before the pitch, just like they did with the pitch types in 21 going forward.
They can then deactivate the R2 button completely during RS play, unless there is some purpose for it that I just don't know about.

@halfbutt I've never been a fan of the "spend and trade" plan. Unless you get some really solid players who live up to their contracts, you never get anywhere, and you don't have anyone in your own system to fill whatever gaps form.
Given how monstrous the contracts are becoming via free agency I don't know why more teams aren't trying to develop a minor league system. It worked for the Cubs, and considering how much of a complete rebuild was required it turned them around real fast, and they used free agency to fill the gaps.
Regarding the Jays, did they lose any of their scouts/front office? It seems like they had a plan, it was working, then suddenly they changed course and are stuck in the middle someplace.
-
@halfbutt I know Toronto wants to win, they have tried to spend money, revamped their stadium to bring in more fans, but I think the bigger wild card in the AL going forward will actually be the A's.
Having escaped Oakland, will they use what I expect to be a massive season for attendence in year one towards revamping the entire organization? If they do this won't be "moneyball" the way it was applied in the Billy Beane years, it will be applied just like it is being done in Chavez Ravine.
-
@Jacky-Chan1 Maybe, maybe not. I don't think he will come even close to the numbers on the field that his agent kept telling the owners. Who knows if he ever pitches again? The Dodgers are doing what the Yankees did in the early days of free agency. Buy everyone and hope it works.
I refer to this as "playstation baseball". Rarely does this work as the egos eventually bring down the entire house of cards and given the size of some of these contracts they now have will be difficult to get any kind of decent return.
However mad anyone is about Ohtani signing with LA, NOBODY is more upset than Trout at this point. Once again he is stuck being the only good player on what is going to be a bad Angels team next season. Will the Angels actually try and deal him and start an actual rebuild?
-
@sbchamps17 To me, it appears that Cody started believing the hype about him and stopped trying. The release by LA was the slap in the face he needed to actually put some effort into his swing.
That said, I would not put a long term/high dollar contract on the table for him. Maybe he is on the way back, and maybe this was a fluke in the middle of a downward spiral. I would offer a short term contract, VERY incentive laden with bonuses and a team option at the end of years one and two in case he busts out.
This could also be beneficial to him as well. If he really is back, after a few years he could be back on the market and get that final big time deal to retire on.

@fubar2k7 I meant when I choose the stadium. I don't back out of the game if I am the road team unless it's clear from the start I am going to get crushed. I prefer to walk before first pitch as it just is a waste of everyones time to start then walk. I am in an older version of the game and about half the games I get are cheesers trying to steal a rank they couldn't get when the game was active, and the other half are legit 1000 level players.
The 1000 guys I always try to get out before the game starts as while I don't mind losing, I do mind being cannon fodder while these guys pad their stats and I literally get nothing. I have tried a couple of times and it's not even close to being an enjoyable situation.
-
@fubar2k7 When I play online I generally try to rotate through multiple stadiums every game. I make sure not to play in the same stadium every time, and if I get a spot like polo grounds, or some other place where shenanigans can take place, I move on to the next tolerable stadium.
Do you think the better solution would be for online only to have ONE stadium would be? It would possibly eliminate, or at least reduce the complaints about elevation, fence height, and outfield distances.
I don't mind there being places where someone who is weak online like myself to play and bash the CPU offline, where it affects only my playing, and would allow others to use as an easier way to complete programs and not affect another players experience.
-
@halfbutt Well I don't know what the M's have in the minors, but perhaps someone to replace Suarez? He is a 32 year old player who has leveled off at .232 for a couple of years now isn't a huge loss to me. Teoscar is also 31 and declining numbers since leaving Toronto.
Regarding Kelenic, he finally put up some numbers after two awful partial seasons. Perhaps they think he hit his ceiling and wanted to sell as high as they could? Modern players, combined with the average contract now seem have performances drop south like an anchor. in 2016 the Cubs were touting Kris Bryant as the next Ron Santo. Three years later and he peaked, and just a few years after that is a non factor, playing outfield on a terrible Rockies team. Maybe Mark Grace was the better number 17 after all?
Truth is all owners can afford any of these players if they wanted to. With the money that even a "poor" owner (over half the league is owned by billionaires) not to mention the insane media revenue. I don't know if the current owner for them is just pocketing the money like some do, or just waiting to get someone better suited for the team.
Wasn't it just last spring where Seattle was very active in the market? I could be wrong, but I would not get too upset in late December, regardless of what team it is. With LA beginning to buy up all the big names making anything look cheap it can be discouraging.
I get a lot of stuff emailed to me from a friend in NY, and you would think the Mets owner never tried to sign anyone the way their fans rant. Then let's not forget MLB's biggest anchor around a team's neck, guaranteed contracts. Nobody wants to sign the next Syndergaard and pay a guy 13 million to be awful and dumped on Cleveland for a player that will be a free agent in 24.
I don't have any words of encouragement, but as a long suffering Cubs fan I understand what it is like to feel the rug pulled out from under me.

The point is that they're promoting a glitch, which SDS has stated is against their TOS, but nothing is being done about it.
When has SDS actually cared about punishing cheaters? They never ban known, extremely exploitive players unless its something that takes money out of their pocket, like finding a way to get free stubs or something.
FYI I am not taking anyones side on this topic.
