This game is so unrealistic and only handicaps me as a player, the hits are ridiculous, the sliders are useless ,what are fair settings to this game? Even when I pitch well the CPU tees off of me like it doesn't matter, the Cpu drags ABs all the time and gets the nonsense bloop hits to drag the inning out while I can't hit. The dumb feedback box that shows my swings is extremely condescending, even when I get a "perfect" hit its a routine out, the Cpu doesn't even have to move it falls right in their glove. So how about making settings where both me and the CPU are even. Stop giving the cpu these LONG ABs raising my pitch count to an absurd number within 3 innings. The CPU os averaging 13 hits per game against me, and again I'm pitching well, I nail the location and release and the cpu just crushes it while when I'm AB, I get no foul balls, its always playable for an out and I only get, 4-5 pitch at bats and the cpu gets a ton of 1,2,3 innings. I cant get a fair AB, the Cpu also gets alot of one pitch ABs against me, I swing once and it's an out, always! Just make a faIr game where again, you are just not handicapping me and giving all the advantage to the cpu who doesnt have to do much to score and win. It's obvious that it's programmed that way. Even when I get a lead by chance, the Cpu always ties it up or takes the lead right away, I can't even chill with a lead.
OK. As someone who is a weak hitter, I have by default had to become a good pitcher. Without knowing what level you are playing on I don't know how much good this will be, but:
Are you throwing the same pitch in the same spot on 2 strikes? Are you using the same sequence of pitches? Are you throwing an occasional pitch out of the zone on purpose?
If you are doing the first two things that will always set the AI to look for those pitches and/or that location. I find if I purposely throw a ball out of the zone, but not so badly it won't be a passed ball/wild pitch it throws their sequencing off.
Are you using gold/diamond defenders? Are the defenders you are using regardless of rating given good reaction and/or speed? If they don't, you are giving them extra chances to reach.
I have found that they will almost always gift themself at least one or two free hits per game unless you have a pitcher with a lot of movement, and sometimes those hits are no doubt home runs.
Are you finding you are making outs on bad pitches? I still sometimes set myself up to fail by getting too excited after I set myself up for a fastball, and either time it wrong, or they throw the offspeed.
If that happens, remember that if you for example get a pitch up and in the zone and either miss it or time it poorly and pop up, you will continue to get those pitches, especially in critical pitch counts until you prove you can lay off the pitch or at least make better contact.
One of my big complaints about the game is the outs that are directly to a fielder. Unfortunately, that is because the field is so tiny, they cannot really make the animations work for an out, so they left the fielding the way it is.
I was playing a moment today, and I think I saved the video to my wall, or whatever it is called where you can save your recorded plays, and this had to be one of the worst rip offs ever by the AI.
With a runner on first, I hit a solid, but not rocket ground ball that was headed up the middle for a hit. The shortstop made a diving stop about 3 feet from the bag, but instead of getting up, his body literally did a spin while still on his belly, so his feet hit the bag and the runner was out to end the inning. It was infuriating, but thankfully just a moment and I moved on.
I still have a long way to go as far as dealing with frustration, but it's something I have to adjust to. Sorry for the long reply, but I do hope it helps.
