When every reward is just another 99, what is the motivation?
  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

This game is a really great "no money spent" experience compared to any other sports game out there, and it's great that there's so much content.

But, I haven't heard any good answer to the question - what's the point of all these rewards when we already have a full team of 99s? What are we supposed to do with all these cards? As a veteran of role playing games, I love grinding and "collecting em all," but it seems so obvious that we need places to use these cards that give the player a nice advantage for collecting them and using them.

I think SDS would say "we know this is a problem, but we just have to put out max 99 content around All Star game, because player base goes out the window at that time no matter what....so it's just all 99s from then...."

So, the obvious solution is - give us a serious mode where we can use the other cards! A mid-90s diamond is super useful on a theme team. You could have all sorts of fun themes - players from venezuela, players whose names end in a vowel, whatever!

Some of you may say that we can just create our own theme teams for fun, and we do....but it's not as fun when you're getting thrashed by "guy who plays his god squad 500 times per day in Ranked and doesn't care to do anything else" while you're playing with your cute Diamondbacks team.

It needs to be a real mode (both online and offline) with real rewards for the people who have a deep portfolio of players. If you don't have a deep portfolio, you get stuck with commons or bronzes in the mode. Team Affinity parts two and three are needed for offline grinding. These are simple fixes to avoid the obvious problem of "thanks for giving me another 99, but I already have four at that position!"

  • More Legends and Stadiums - more Storylines mode
  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

I might be alone, but I'd donate so much cash to SDS if they would deepen the legend pool. You'd think that MLB could lend some assistance and encourage a big group of players to let the game show them. This is the only serious MLB game out there. There are so many mid-tier legends that the fan base would love to see in the game, especially players from the last 25 years. Same thing with stadiums - why are we still sitting on the same group of stadiums that we've always had, when there are so many more? Can't MLB help out with getting the rights to a lot of the historical places?

The Storylines mode is so short right now. There's so much baseball history that could be covered. You could have a storyline for every year from 1950 on - based on who won the World Series that year, or interesting events that happened that year. I don't even think you'd need the rights for the players if you just used a generic image (generic tall Hispanic player or something) - the stats and information is public info, and could be used.

This game could cover so much baseball history, and show off so much about it. You'd think MLB would want to promote that as much as possible.

  • In praise of grinding
  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

Everyone's always bagging on what a pain it is to do diamond quest, or showdown, or multiplayer grind....am I the only one who wants the grinding to be way harder than it is?

If you put in a grind that takes two hours, that's like just giving everyone a free card. Another basically free card means less reward for the player who does all the programs, all the collections, all the content, etc. Why does nobody have the patience for any long-term quest? Nobody can seem to accept the idea of "hey, a couple hours per day, and I'll have this done in a month..."...it has to be "why can't I have this card tonight!!"

The whole point of a grind is to put up a wall that makes a reward valuable - that makes the reward meaningful. Video gamers are animals - the wall needs to be really high, or they'll just immediately climb it (while complaining loudly, but still climbing). They're also cheaty mcheatertons and will find ways to get around the grind, if possible.

And to the people that say they only want to play certain modes, or certain difficulties, or only offline or only online - part of being good at the game should be being able to switch between all difficulties, all modes, all lineups, etc.

Lol, these jive-time turkeys acting like most people can put 38 in any kind of game.

  • Can I get a Use Case?
  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

Ok, so I'm a player who has almost all of the big cards in the game, with the exception of Ketel and a few Chase cards (though I could get most of them too with my current stubs). And I find myself really wishing the game would give me a reason not to use the same old cards.

The game never gives us a good use case for 95 percent of the cards in our deck. Am I going to use them over Tedrick Williams, Joey Bats, or Griffey? Over Cal or Posada or Willi? Noone loves Troy Glaus more than me, but give me a reason to use him! How about Ryan Howard or Anthony Rizzo - whelp, who can afford that Lefty Tax!

Put a salary cap on, or make theme teams required in stretches, or something. We need a reason to build cool and funky teams.

  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

Okay, let's be constructive. There are ways this card could be good. He could have some quirk called Lefty Crusher where he's super extra dangerous to lefty pitchers. He could have Double Pop Time, which lets him almost always gun down a base runner with good throw. But, he doesn't have those, does he? So...he sucks.

  • Bonus wheel spins.

It's so annoying to me that the spin is already pre-determined before you do it. Can't they make it a real game? Are they afraid someone will figure out how to cheese the game if they do?

  • Okay, I see you SDS
  • AppleLemon560_MLBTSA AppleLemon560_MLBTS

the flash sales don't much sense to me from an economics perspective - I'm not interested in doing this, but it's so easy to just buy 10 standout posadas - and then sell back 10 hours later and make like half a million stubs...

I don't like any of these cheesy ways to earn stubs - seems to me like they probably just artificially increase money supply, and drive everything up for silly reasons
