    Some criticisms of the game...
  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

Wouldn't believe you unless I'm in the room where it happens

  • How's 2020 the show??
  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

I swore I wouldn't buy it and even with this lockdown stuff I still have no interest. I been playing a few games here and there of 19... same [censored] as usual. I find I win a lot of games and hit/pitch very well... but whenever I get matched up with someone with a VERY bad record or novice in anyway, that's when all the [censored] ensues.

    MY LAST GAME 🙂
This guy has about 600 losses. Took his starter out in the 2nd inning, proceeded to put out pitchers with low or NO energy. He walked me too many times and EVERYTHING I hit was a line drive right at someone. Even though this dude was throwing right down the heart of the plate since I was laying off all of his breaking stuff that he couldn't get in the strike zone. I struck him out 16 times. He's flailing at EVERYTHING. He beat me 1-0. And it was this game that I remember why I hate this company so much and reminded why I didn't buy 20. They do [censored] when it comes to bad matchups. I can take a loss by a good competitor. Or someone whose far better than me. But there's way too many games like THIS one that causes just way too much frustration. I'm sorry but why are you rewarding someone who is throwing the ball to hang over the plate...I had about 20 line outs. For perspective, my starting line up batting averages are mostly well above .300. I have a good eye, patient, wait for my pitch. And I'm even better pitcher. This guy proved on multiple occasions to not be nearly the match and yet continuously awarded and taken out of jams. Disgusting. I don't care if he's new player.... if he gets matched with a World Series player, why should I be handicapped to his skill set?

I will not be buying 2020 based on all of this "DDA" type [censored] that most definitely ensues. Is it still a thing in this years version of the game? Glancing at some of the boards it looks like there are definitely other issues. It's really a shame that there is not another competitive baseball game out. Because [censored] THE SHOW. Been playing for a decade and the direction they've taken is just shameful. Not that they give a [censored].

Online is pure trash currently. SDS getting in the realm of 2k and Madden for fk sake

Yeah online feels VERY manipulated. Best way I can put it. And AGAIN I've been on BOTH sides of this. I don't like feeling manipulated. I'd rather win/lose without [censored] coding or whatever they're doing to make people play the game more.

Also those Buxton and Ohtani cards are dumb. You mean to tell me EVERYONE has a great batting average and 3492835897 home runs with them? Give me a [censored] break. Game is lame af.

  • This Game is Bad.
  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

I'm sorry but I've wanted to like playing this game and the content is great... but the way it plays online is pure trash. I'm sure a lot of you guys like it if you play the way SDS wants you to play it. But the game play feels really blocky and gross. I've been playing this game for 10 years. I skipped it last year because I was extremely unimpressed with 2019. Ironically 2019 played AMAZINGLY after mlb 20 came out, it's as if they removed some coding that allowed for frequent comebacks and less line outs right at fielders.

This last game I played, and I've played SEVERAL like this, I got matched with a guy who just swung at everything. So I literally just started throwing the ball nowhere near the zone. So the CPU rewarded him. If I intentionally throw the ball up at your eyes and the ball is hit 450 feet to give your team the lead for a 3 run home run, it's really going to be difficult to take that as earned. Because it's not. Later on in the game, I had another 3 run lead... same process. And same player, Niko Goodrum. I threw a pitch that was so inside that it would've hit him, and hit it out for the come back and lead. Look, I can understand this nonsense if the ball was hung, or in the zone or whatever... but how in the world are people allowed to hit homers up as high as I can throw it? I can't even get my batting cursor that high. And these home runs always happen if the team is down and out. It never (or rarely ever) happens if said team has the lead. I regret buying this game. Waste of time and money. Every team has the same stupid [censored] players (Buxton, Ohtani, Turner, Burnes)... and even in a year with create a stadium, everyone uses the same stupid [censored] stadium. It's just a cheese fest and not fun at all. I've been great at this game for awhile, and even this year my record is fine I guess... definitely not what it was in past year. It feels very manipulated at times. Both used for and against me. There have been times I've had a comeback that seemed odd and I recognized that. Like what did I just pull that sinker ball outside and hit it way out?? okay I'll take it... I guess but I definitely didn't really square up on that. Sorry for the vent. This game was obnoxious though... dude was throwing fastballs and hanging pitches and while I did score 7 runs, most of my hits were actually right at a fielder. Meanwhile I'm literally throwing all over the place and he's allowed to hit in the gap and hit homers all game when he's down by 3? Okay.

Probably selling my ps5 soon if anyone wants to hit me up. Would rather not waste my time with this weird [censored] playing game all summer.

  • Another DDA (comeback logic) post
  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

You literally cannot convince me that there is NOT comeback logic in this game. I have been on both sides of this coin. I’ve played for years and it’s just so obvious it exists. Whenever I take a 3-5 run lead early in the game, and playing a player who doesn’t have as stacked a lineup… I just know what’s about to happen. All of sudden my batting skills are gonna go out the window… soft contact or hard contact but right at a fielder/warning track shot. Then their previously bad hitting is going to start turning into these awkward homeruns that float out of the park on a pitch that was probably not in the zone. And then once they make their amazing comeback, they won’t be able to for the next inning but your hitting may come back to life. All for it to end chaotically on some sort of frustrating combination of bloops hits, error, another awkward floaty home run that was possibly robbable at the fence but of course you didn’t get it. It happens so often that the formula script is too easy to lay out and spell for you. You’re truly a dunce if you think that this is not in the game.

Obviously no this is not in every game. But it’s in MANY games. Too make it close and “competitive” so ppl don’t get discouraged and never play again. Sometimes it is possible to survive the comeback, but whenever I don’t and they come back from the 3-5 run deficit and win- I’ll usually get rewarded some gold or diamond player after the game… I guess their way of saying “sorry that this weaker player came back and beat you. Don’t leave us!” lol it’s nauseating. I think it’s time to delete this game. It’s very frustrating.

  • I'm DONE with this game.
  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

    A few days ago I made a post about comeback logic in this game and all the reasons and signs that point to it. Tonight I played a game where I was winning up 11-3, and because I KNOW about comeback logic, I can assure you that I don't take ANY lead for granted. But just like many of you have pointed out, once it started in the game I just knew what was going to happen;

After putting a bunch of runs up, my bat gets nerfed and can't hit anything anymore and every other pitch is now a home run for the opponent. I'll make this short and sweet and say that he came back and won against my best relievers in the game; Britton, Dhuran and Rogers... and of course I'm boiling because it felt there was nothing I could do to hold the lead or tack on more runs after I scored a bunch. All of his runs came in the 8th inning btw. Clearly giving this opponent who had been struggling the entire game a reason to love this game.

I find this game unrealistically unsettling and beyond frustrating when these events seem to happen so much in the game. I shouldn't start feeling borderline nauseous wondering why I'm about to give up the game that I've been in control of in its entirety, and so often. It's really not fun like this. It's not realistic when it's this common especially.

I know the non believers of this comeback logic coding will be like GOOD riddance to someone who does believe in this coding. But it's really disappointing and sad honestly knowing that I have been completely discouraged by this game at this point when I've put in COUNTLESS hours in it this year and constructed a DD team I've very proud of. I've also been playing this game for a decade and DD since it came out. I'm no slouch and I get the nuances of the game. I outplayed this opponent at every facet, taking pitches, working counts, out hitting and pitching and then it literally felt like the controller was taken out of my hands or handicapped to give this player a "redemption" arc. I've been on both sides of this annoying coin.

I'll miss the game. But clearly this is just not good for my mental health. I should spend my time elsewhere. I love baseball, and I used to LOVE this game... but this is a cringy aspect of this game online that I find intolerable, disrespectful, and beyond frustrating. It is what it is. I'll very much miss my team and playing the game when it seemed actually balanced. Cheers y'all.

  • amendoza616_PSNA amendoza616_PSN

I have mlb 19 still and play it once in awhile, but everything you're talking about is the reason why I didnt bother buying mlb 20 the show. Despite loving and playing this game for the last decade and always buying the latest version. The [censored] is so real with the programming and it's REALLY frustrating. Obnoxious. When I hear that they've made this game straight up, then I'll buy it again.

Just make ACTUAL divisions. The bad players will play against the bad players until the graduate to the next level. It's already in the game, but clearly it doesn't really matter that much. It's gotten to a point where when I match with someone who is clearly bad (bad record, swings at everything early on, throws pitches right down the middle) that I just roll my eyes cause I know what frustrating game I'm about to play. Give me someone whose closer to my skill level so that the game be kept fairly without the [censored] forced stuff to keep the [censored] player from quitting forever. Instead I'm closer to quitting forever. The guy whose been loyal for a decade.

The RNG is a way to balance out the the different methods of hitting input and to keep stats somewhat realistic.

I don’t understand why they care if stats are realistic in DD. We are already playing with unrealistic lineups.

Its all about the money my friend. I tried giving mlb the rng ranked seasons another try today and im greatly regretting it as i broke my controller out of frustration. This is the only game that angers me this much.

Was pitching a complete gem with Oswalt. My opponent had pretty bad pitch recognition. Struck out 9 times by the 6th inning. All 3 of his runs came from home runs (not mad about this). I had about 8 center pci good/ok’s.

Ditto, no game aggravates me as much as this one. NO GAME. If it's not the buggy gameplay, it's the bs odds they give you in packs. And if everything just happen to go right they hit you with a network error. Typically a shatter a controller per year on this game alone. I need a punching bag with this mess.

Easily the most frustrating game I've ever played. And it doesn't even come close.

Has SDS ever commented on this? The fact that there is no way 'skill' your way between good/good, good/pop up and other random outcomes makes me believe that it is scripted 100%...RNG

I'll be honest, if these guys were just honest and forthcoming enough to admit it's a randomized animation event we get to watch and, occasionally, participate in..I would have more respect for them.

Just come out and say "Hey guys, it works like this. It's ,indeed, randomized so every one gets a fulfilling win now and then, but balanced so everyone also gets the chef's surprise". And, yes "We have created this fabricated hierarchy of RS studs that always make the WS to support the false narrative".

"One day we hope to be able to orchestrate all this without being so blatant that's is obvious to everyone all the way down to the wee 10-year old's that play. "

Spot ON. It'll never happen though. I'm glad I didn't buy 20. I play 19 occasionally, but haven't even played that in weeks. This game is just so because of all of this and I will never buy another copy of it until I see they have stopped with this awful programming that is blatantly obvious.
It says something that even through a pandemic, and without real baseball, and a game I've played for a decade I STILL wouldn't buy mlb 20 the show. Not subjecting myself to the frustration of this game anymore.

Tired of wasting my time on this game. Too much grinding for cards that don't make a huge difference. And I don't like wasting time playing the Team Affinity showdowns [censored] "veteran" on steroids... hitting balls right at players conveniently. It's not fun and doesn't make me feel good anymore. Waste of time.

Taking a break from this (or any) game is a solid idea. When it gets to the point where you can’t enjoy it, and playing is stressing you out, it’s definitely the way to go.
The next version of the game will no doubt be here, when you feel like you can play again.

I try to accept the gameplay for what it is, “comeback logic” or not. I can really only control my input, and how I react. The outcomes of the game are largely beyond that.

    Good Luck!

Sound advice, I appreciate it! I've actually quit this game before too sadly for a full year. And I've enjoyed the content of the game and graphics and everything but the gameplay online ranked. It feels too manipulate...

One minute guy can't touch you then the AI says enough of that, 3 HR in a row on pitches that hung even though u hit marks. Its set up to promote the buying of stubs. save your money and frustration level and don't buy this piece of c**p. Just my opinion

Word. Thanks for heads up... that sucks to hear. I was low key hoping that I was missing out and they stopped with the [censored] that they clearly put into the online game play. But they bank on people getting frustrated or rather constantly improving their team and buying precious stubs. [censored] SDS tho. They're not getting anything from me. Sorry guys... hope they iron it out for many many many of you who DID buy this years game.

Everybody seems to have these player of the month cards. I don't care for having the same team as everyone else, but of course these cards are unrealistically good. Like... you can't throw anything to these guys without them launching it. Even the pitcher, Burnes, gets hits off me. I throw pitches way out of the zone and their effortlessly hit out. Nauseating. Taking another break from this game. Not just cause of this, the content is good... the game just plays very bizarrely in my opinion. Homeruns are pretty much the way to strategize your team. Not fun for the contact/speed/defense guys like myself. Homeruns just seem extremely convenient... like they happen when you're down and need them. I've been on both sides of this. I've hit homers I know seemed very cheesy. And, once again, with how these player of the months cards play online... they very obviously want everyone to have these cards. Everyone has the same stupid lineup and it's boring. I'm also tired of you people choosing Shippett... creative much? All the ballparks... all the players... and every team is pretty much the same and every other game is at Shippett. Yawn.

For the "git gud" morons ready to troll me, thanks for your advice. I've always been a World Series player. And this year so far I'm at 20-14... last few games have played like [censored], mostly victim to these player of the month squads stacked up against me. Whatever. Life goes on. Just posting this here cause I'm annoyed with patterns. Carry on.
