OK so, my understanding is that with a runner on first, the fielder opposite to the handedness of the batter covers second on a DP or stolen base attempt. So lefty batter=SS covers, righty batter=2B covers, unless the ball is hit at him, in which case, the other covers. Right?
In a game vs cpu just now, with the runner going, SS takes off toward the bag and ignores a ball hit right at him, allowing it to go into CF. Instead of a double play it becomes first and third no out.
So is this a perfectly executed hit and run by the cpu or a botched infielder mistake?
