MTO or Showdown ? which do you think is better to do for the team affinity grind ?

If you have the patience and ability go for showdown. If not, sit back relax and play MTO. If you don’t feel comfortable winning half your showdowns, MTO might actually save time.

I pick MTO. It’s my favorite game mode.

MTO test the trade market....with most teams a few trades can make the worst teams decent ....I tend to try and have three bugs bats, speed and a lefty bullpen guy. So far I've acquired yelich, garver, Sanchez, mondesi, cruz.....just some good trades that panned out. Not all guys I want I get but makes it easier to beat.

MtO seems to be the best bet in terms of time and the most reliable return. You need 3 successful Showdown runs to get enough vouchers for the FotF card. I’m definitely not good enough to count on winning 100% of my Showdown attempts, but MtO on veteran is a breeze and an easy 52 pts. So Showdown would probably take a lot longer for scrubs like me.
However, anecdotally it seems like the top-tier MtO teams (Yanks, LAD, etc) seem to take 10-12 hours while the lower tier teams take 5-7 hours. I think you have to play more innings and more frequent games with the favored teams, which makes sense because you get the same rewards for winning the WS with NYY as Baltimore so it should take more effort to win with a good team.
So if you’re really good at showdown and you want TA points for the twins of Houston or someone like that, you’re better off grinding showdown. Otherwise, MtO is safer. Not to mention MtO is hella fun and Showdown makes me want to burn the entire universe to the ground.

That’s interesting about better teams taking more time. I’ve done the Padres and rangers (2nd tier) and both took me 6-7. I’ll be curious when I do yankees and Dodgers next.

I think ability went out the window when you get a random outcome from good swing timing, it's either a pop up or a hard liner

MTO is long grind, but a guarantee to get points. Showdown can be done and done a lot faster, but you have to hit consistently good. Ypu can spend 90 minutes and blow it and get nothing toward TA.
If you are like me and are a inconsistent hitter, especially on Veteran. Then MTO is the way to go, but it takes a long time.
