Shohei Ohtani ERA in MtO
-
So I'm currently running my eighth MtO and I noticed Shohei Ohtani has a pretty ugly ERA of 8.40 in June. So I thought I'd load up my previous saves and take a look at his numbers just for kicks. Simulation probably isn't regaining stamina to pitch after playing as a DH or something.
Nationals (early June) 8.40
Angels (ALDS) 7.91 - moved him to the bullpen sometime after AS break
Braves (NLDS) 9.88
Rangers (ALDS) 8.24
Yankees (ALDS) 9.11
Rays (ALCS) 10.38
A's (ALCS) 9.26
Royals (WS) 9.84 -
No joke, during my Padres MTO, the league updates ticker at the bottom of the screen showed Ohtani’s record and it was 0-21
-
Yeah I saw the same thing. My theory is entirely that he is going into his starts low on energy and gets hammered.
-
Alrighty, add this to the ever expanding list of things to fix, simulation energy management

To be fair, this is actually one of the biggest concerns surrounding him in real life of whether or not he'll have the stamina to pitch, take BP and warmups and hit in 2 or 3 games between starts, and be fully rested for a start 4 days later. Obviously there's a more significant glitch in the Show which probably leaves him close to empty stamina when he pitches, but it's not a totally irrelevant glitch, it is actually realistic for him to have a little less energy when he pitches.

Royals (WS) 9.84Definitely some good evidence there for a bug report. If it doesn’t take too long you should show them in a video clip as well and include the clip or a link in your report.

Exactly, but in MTO you have no control of giving him enough rest to pitch, like you would in Franchise.

This makes a lot of sense — he was by far my worst pitcher when I did an MtO with the Angels and I figured there was some sort of bug in his attributes or something. I think his ERA was in the high 7s. I tried shopping him around for a trade but I didn’t get any takers (not surprising with that ERA!)

Just finished my eighth regular season in MtO, with the Nats. Sure enough, Ohtani finished 5-17 with a 9.17 ERA, 161IP 225Ks 30Hrs allowed 2.17WHIP. 2 Quality Starts though, so there's that.
edit - also this MtO became an absolute slog with how frequently the game wanted me to finish a No-hitter with Patrick Corbin after the AS break.
