Suddenly I'm terrible hitting.

I used to play online with a friend all the time, and I win most of the time easily. But, suddenly this week I find my self impossible to place the pci on the ball, even on balls on the plate, my timing it's bad and it's impossible to hit a sinker.
I know that you can have good and bad days...But this change it's to abrupt....I it's like if the game had change in a week.

It's not you, it's the game. And if things turn around, and you start hitting again,....just remember, it's not you, it's the game.
I've never played a game with more inconsistencies in gameplay than MLB The Show....pick a year...any year.

We all suck at hitting right now. Just play at shippet, score 15 runs and hope to not give up 16

I'm a zone guy and my PCI placement has been [censored] the past few times I play. I happen to watch some of the clips from the players league and it looks like some of the guys doing best in there are directional hitters. Looks like Gallo and Tatis are using directional. Can anyone confirm this? I hate to say it, but is directional the way to go right now?
For those that have used directional for a while, do you just sit in the middle and use the button, or do you try to influence it in any way? Like, you see an outside pitch, so you push the box (while the pitch is coming) to the outside? Or do you do all the influencing before the pitch? One certain approach that works best?

This should be the most popular thread on the site. Hitting has been a huge issue for me the last 4 or 5 days. I finished ranked season 1 at 872. Since the new season began everything is so off when it comes to pci input and reaction.

All they do is work the count hope for a fastball then foul off 789m pitches.
Anyway not great at game but today I think i've had 80% of my hits line out ground out even perfect perfect all bar 1. No idea wtf is going on but man now I know what others have been complaining about. Good okays always line out now?
Directional ppl I honestly don't get how that in anyway is enjoyable.
Oh and fielding as well like neither this nor hitting was a major problem for me but today WoW!
Went from hitting a hr with Oswalt yesterday to the poopiest!
