I like that idea too. If I could get 40-50% playing on veteran and they stacked then I may do them even if it takes a few runs. I may not do all of them but it is better than me doing none of them.
Playing on Veteran and looking at 40%-60% range each time is just not worth it.

It's simple: I hate power swinging. Showdown is about one side of the game; I'm old school. I like defense and pitching combined with hitting; I structure my teams to play with speed, and Showdown is all about sabermetrics.

@victoryphoenix_PSN you don’t even have to power swing to beat this one. You could literally draft an all bunt team to beat this easy showdown.

@WackyGrass_PSN I’d bet that the majority of players can beat showdowns. Wanting an entire mode to be removed because you aren’t very good is selfish and frankly, dumb. I’m all for making these cards sellable, so you aren’t locked out from getting them, but taking things away is almost never the answer. I want more things to do, not less. They already removed RTTS and MTO. Let’s not encourage them to continue to give us less options. Go practice.
You guys are really out of touch with how tough this game is for huge majority of people. I would still hit a baseball further than most on here but can't hit a little white ball sitting on the ground. Very few people are really good at video games. They are good at other things like being a Dr, teaching, welding, etc. I think the streamer/cheating universe has clouded people.
Pick a game, any game and the majority of people streaming it are cheating. Hate to burst anyone's bubble.

I didn't power swing once against either boss battle. I had all lefties except for Walker and got the vast majority of my runs on HRs.
All the guys you draft should have more than enough power for normal swings

DQ and showdown could be fun but the fact they manipulate the sliders and make the game play differently than in all other modes drives a lot of people away from even trying.

Showdowns shouldn't be required, period. Especially not requiring 18 runs in 27 outs. Doesn't matter that it's on Rookie. Doesn't matter that it's a crappy pitcher. That's still a lot of runs in a game with a massive amount of RNG. Having it as an option is fine. Having it required means I'm going to go play something else that doesn't hate its player base.

Are you stupid??? I’ve played on legend with 80% chance to get reward and get nothing. If I were to play on rookie I had like 50% chance. So I’m forced to play on higher difficulty and even when I win I don’t get reward. That’s a horrible model to base a game where you can complete all missions all goals and then end up getting nothing. You spend pretty much a hour depending on which quest. That has to be the worst model to sell to people. I understand risk reward but why the hell is that even in a game like this?? That takes all the fun out of playing. Some people have jobs and families and don’t get to sit on a game for 8+ hours. And the facts are all these people in this forum that have played on higher difficulty and got nothing. What are you even talking about

How about some advice for beating the Showdown for an old man playing the game with his grandson for the first time in many years when it was on PS2 and I wrote a complaint letter to Sony that the Dodgers didn’t have the little red number in the front? I tried it twice with mashers and got stuck at 17 both times. BTW - has there ever been one on Rookie before? Heinz ketchup, it’s SLOWWWWWWW GOOOOOOD. And that’s not a dig at less experienced players. I love all of you…you miserable bast—-s. Just kidding. Thank you for your consideration, Papa Rick.

Old guy here also! I did it with at least 20 outs to spare for both of the “mini bosses” or whatever they are called.
Directional hitting. I pushed my left stick straight up for every hitter and pressed “A” for regular swing.
I drafted all lefties except for Jordan (125 power) and Caminero (120 power??). My key suggestion: only draft players whose vision is GREEN. (Jordan is not). Draft the highest rated lefties in order by power vs Righties.
Another key: STEAL!! Someone posted this earlier and it’s true, CPU will let you steal (2nd at least) until you get to around 5 runs behind.
Another key: don’t worry about positions. I had Brandon marsh as my catcher! Just draft lefty high vision sluggers!!
Let Ramone throw some pitches. He will definitely dot. Getting his confidence down to zero is the goal.
HTH. BTW, I’m not good at this game either. And I’m not a fan of showdown either!!
Edit to add: I drafted all exit velocity increasing perks. 7th inning, when behind, with no on base.

Plus, the HRD showdon isn't even that hard. Just spam power swings and have a good eye, and you'll be done in no time.

Huh I'm stupid yet you played for an hour to only have 80% on legend. Interesting so you failed at least 2 challenges olayed the whole map. Sounds like a you problem. Since i can run to the stadium pass the 5-6 challenges along the way, beat the sweeper and have a 65-70% chance in 10 minute, and usually walk away win 1 or both top rewards. Huh yeah deffinetly a you problem since in and hour I can do this 4-5 times. So seems like YOU don't know what you are talking about.

If SDS was wise, they would print this post and force feed it to everyone at their next concept meeting. Video game companies need to accept two things. First, most customers have about an hour a day (mostly at night after work) to play a game before getting to other things related to family. Second, those few who devote extreme time to master a video game tend to come onto forums like this one and voice overt contempt for those who lodge concerns about degree of difficulty.
Put those two concepts together, and it means companies need to work better at scaling the game's difficulty. But, that only works for offline games. Online versus humans needs to be a level platform and you take your chances. But, offline should allow the game to be tailored for experience.
Last point, anyone who derides others the way I've seen some do here earn my immediate account ban. Such people I'm frankly not interested in hearing from. No one rationally complains about people earning skills in something. But, condescending and taunting people over it earns nothing but rebuke and shunning.

I agree!! I’ve been called an “unc” , “chud” , “Karen” (had to frankly look all those terms up!), a “loser”, “child” and my favorite: “a female cat”.All those folks are on my block list, which I’ve never used before this season. Like you, IMO, if you resort to name calling, you’ve “lost the argument “ and I’m not interested going forward in what you have to say. Disagree all you want, just be respectful.
