@GoozeFn_PSN Imagine telling someone to grow up when you come up with something that can gt people banned in spite of playing good legit games thanks to the abuse of the 90% of this community that can't handle losing

Banning someone for dashboarding is diabolical. I understand that its kind of annoying, but at the end of the day, youre being gifted a win. If I have to sacrifice a home run in the stats, Ill take that every single time. Theres just no world where closing the game in the middle of a play should result in a banOf course it should get a ban. Its griefing. There is no defense here.

The fix here could be, that you would have to earn the right to be in on the system. Maybe just let SDS affiliates be a part of it to start with. As they rate their games, others would be let in based on their gameplay, so as to only let trusted in the system.
the better you play, the more influence you have. the crappier you play, the less chance you have to be a part of it.
I know, It's a lot, and I don't expect it to come to fruition, but it would be nice. all online gaming should have an accountability system.

@dart_wuffy_PSN That’s why I suggested first offense within a 24 hour period is a warning. Then a short cooldown. Then a 24 hour cooldown. I’m all for an actual ban, but I don’t think you can realistically apply it, which is why I’m suggesting the short cooldown periods.

Honestly they need to find a way to code the game where if the player disconnects mid play the opponent gets to play out the full play. That would remove dashboarding from the game.
Bunt dancing should be easy to code out too. You get to show bunt once. If you do it a second time you are locked in and cant pull away until after the pitch is thrown
-
They could give you like 3 " dashboards" in case it was legitimately your internet thst went out . After that you get blocked for a week from playing competitive. Since 2022 ive only had 3 accidental dashboard

I’ve become numb to it. I worry about stats. Have I quit games yes. However I’ll let the ball land or the play end then quit. I have kids sometimes life literally throws a curveball.

You really don't think giving an opponent in a totally anonymous online game the influence to negatively or positively rate his opponent would not lead to abuse?
The reason why there are sports leagues in real life is primarily to write rules of the game, and enforce them. This to counter the human nature to cheat. The leagues hire, train, and supervise officials whose purpose is to ensure the games are played in accordance with the established rules, and hand out punishments when players break those rules.
Online gaming suffers because there is no rational way to match that setup. Instead, the games turn into a wild west show where within the limits of the game code, anything goes. People are free to play tough, hard, and fair, or tank, or in other cases cheat or play just to toy with the opponent -- with the goal to undermine the enjoyment of quality competition.
The reason why customers of MLB The Show so often ask for an expansion of capabilities within the framework of private leagues is because if one cannot replicate the real world league structure, then at least the private leagues are formed by folks who know each other and if nothing else, quality play is ensured through peer pressure.
In sum, if one chooses to play online games against completely anonymous opponents, then one must accept that if anything the anonymity encourages bad people to act badly. Few here have been as critical of SDS's behavior than I have. But, on this score, honesty must override that. SDS is neither responsible for, nor capable of, reforming human nature. If you dip your toe in online gaming, you accept the environment for what it is.
And this is why I choose to totally avoid online gaming. Each person must make his own choice here, but do so with a rational understanding of the environment. That means stop trying to pressure SDS to write game code that would effectively force bad people to play well.

Dashboarders are annoying but honestly what are we really missing. a home run and 4 total bases typically? It's not a big deal and I get the W. For me, knowing i've made someone rage quit is satisfying enough for the tiny losses of stats for 1 hit.

I have been saying that for years. Just let the play finish.
It also would not remove dashboarding as you say. People dashboard because they are mad about the play that just happened, that's why they call it rage quitting. I doubt that many of them are doing it with the sole intent of robbing stats from the other player, that is just an unfortunate side effect.

It's not completely anonymous. the system would have to honor honesty and fairness. Punish abuse of power. It would even out over time.
Ratings given from lower rated users would hold less weight.
Un rated or negatively rated, can't rate, yet.
Highest rated users, on the integrity scale, would matter most. The system would be self supporting, and eventually, we'd only be playing with fair users.

The problem with banning people for dashboarding is that theres no situation in which it is necessary. If you code it so that you get a strike every time your internet goes out no matter the game situation, then thats unfair to everyone whos internet just went out. If you code it so you only get a strike for quitting in the middle of a home run, then you could just put the homerun in the stats and not have the ban, and everyone goes home happy

@TheRupster12_XBL That’s why I suggested first offense within a 24 hour period is a warning. That accounts for the random disconnect. I can’t remember the last time I disconnected more than one time in a 24 hour period over the last 2 years.
-
Sorry, but I don't share your optimism. Most people wouldn't take the time to rate either way. Those who do would feature a far larger population of malcontents whose self-declared mission is to cause other people trouble. These are the same malcontents whose conduct in online games is the source of the expressed need for this "solution."
What is most likely to happen is that folks who play honest are going to get undeserved negative ratings from the same abusive players who wanted to make the game miserable in the first place. It's like allowing players in real sports to officiate themselves. It doesn't work.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL what if you could only upvote , no downvotes . High upvotes get better matchups .
️ just brainstorming . -
I don't think bans for dashboards is a good thing, there is no way to tell if it's a dashboard or a disconnect (blatantly obvious, but still no way to definitively prove)
I used to live in an apartment building and 5 doors down the most inconsiderate neighbors who would constantly plug too much stuff in and overload the breakers and knock out power to the entire floor -
@Teak2112_MLBTS The bunt dancing should be simple enough to where if they show bunt they would have to commit to bunting.
