Unwelcome game change (bug?)
-
Until recently, I was able to play using the classic button controls. I'd select a pitch, hit a button, and the game would do all the work. Since I'm older, that's how I"m comfortable playing.
Suddenly, that option is no longer available with Diamond Dynasty. So, I've been playing since March a certain way, and now you're forcing me to start all over again by learning an entirely new system. The ability to switch to the more basic controllers is lost.
I'm a first-time player this season, and I already find the controls frustrating, as your Rookie level still has a steep learning curve for those of us who grew up on RBI Baseball 94. Now, you've just arbitrarily thrown out my five months of practice and forced me to learn an entirely new system.
This move all but assures that I just play Madden and College Football from now on and don't buy future versions of the game. Since I"m someone who was buying Stubs in-season, it's a strange move to alienate a customer like this.
Is this a bug, or is the basic controller layout no longer going to be available for Diamond Dynasty?

Just use meter, my friend. It's so simple and yet you have complete control. It's just a couple of button pushes - one to initiate, two for velocity, three for release.
-
I sincerely appreciate the polite suggestion, but I have zero interest in that. I find it unwieldy and needlessly complex. I have tried it on several occasions, and it just doesn't work to my satisfaction. The simple push feels more natural for me, a VERY old-school gamer.

Pure Analog is another easy one if want to give it a shot. You select the pitch, move the right stick, then flick it back up in just the right spot. It's a little hard to explain, but easy to execute.
-
I've been playing for seven years and still can't get Pinpoint right so don't even try that one.
-
I sincerely appreciate the advice. The problem is that I'm old and set in my ways, and there's an easy solution here. SDS could just unlock the basic controls I've been using for the past five months. There was no reason for this change, which is why I'm hopeful it's just a bug.
-
@Gone-Viral_XBL I use the same thing and am still using it right now as I'm playing
-
@Gone-Viral_XBL It probably is a bug, unless SDS is a bunch of [censored]-sucking fucks who just don't care about people like you. Actually, on second thought, that's what they are to begin with. Eureka!

There was nothing in the notes about disabling it so maybe it is just a bug.
You claim to be old. I am 61 and the three click meter has been around for ages, especially in older Golf titles.
I find it kind of interesting that you find the controls in Madden and College football easier than a standard 3 click method. Doesn't the kicking in those games just use a variation of the same meter?
-
@sbchamps17_NSW Are you using it in Diamond Quest, and are you using an Xbox or PS5? I've got the lock next to that controller option in my Xbox settings.
-
@Dolenz_PSN Yeah, I'm 55. I probably haven't played a golf game since before the Tiger Woods days.
Madden and CFB have the ability to use a football meter on passing, but I disabled it immediately when they introduced it (in M24, I think?). Similarly, I've got a Simpsons Arcade 1 Up in the other room. It includes Simpsons Bowling, which has hard mode and easy mode. Hard mode uses the meter. Easy mode has the single click instead. We never play hard mode. It's just too much aggravation.
-
@Gone-Viral_XBL yes using it every where in DD, so it's still available and I'm on Nintendo switch
-
@sbchamps17_NSW Okay, good. That's a strong indicator that this is just a bug rather than a feature change.
-
@Gone-Viral_XBL
Pulse is very easy to pick up, if you use that youll be fine -
@Talkingben9558_XBL I've tried and actively dislike it. I prefer the more passive game experience. It's more realistic to me.
