SDS makes about $100 million each year they release a copy of MLB The Show. And I suspect that with the cost of living in San Diego that it costs about $350,000 a year in salary to hire a good video game coder. Despite that, it seems SDS is a company that has hired only a handful of coders, more akin to a small indy software company vice a company that draws in $100 million a year in revenue.

SDS does not make this money. Sony does. And I'm sure they are happily using the DD revenue to develop something completely unrelated to The Show

And honestly something like conquest maps and mini seasons probably doesnt take a lot of coding anyway

When it’s the Weekend Classic the majority of the focus is on that mode this year

This is why I want to say 'this mode isnt for me, glad for those who like it', but the game is absolutely worse for me this year because of WC and DQ. Lesser rewards in MS and inning drops are awful with no offline content.

Exactly this. And who do WC and DQ cater to….elite level players. Add in that CPU pitching and pack odds are worse than ever and Live series is priced the highest it’s ever been and you have a recipe for a frustrating game for the majority of the player base.

Why you would cater to a very small minority in opposition to the vast majority can only mean one thing. Higher level players are much more likely to spend thousands of dollars each game cycle to contribute to their streaming platforms. I’m not saying all elite players spend tons of money but the bigger name guys certainly do.

as an offline player this really sucks then. I'm never going to touch the weekend classic.

If they were smart they would unlock elite guys behind huge offline grinds but make them sellable.
Make the god squadders dip into their stubs to avoid the big grind.

Then no one would ever grind for them.

For example, if Sosa had been sellable, would you have done all those moments? Or would you have ignored them all and just bought him off the market?

I don't think they should make the showdown player sellable, but what they could do is make it like the other showdowns and you don't lose your run if you fail a boss, the new ones are all like that, they can do the spring one like that too.

I would never buy anything off the market I could earn myself offline. I havent even bought a single pack card outside of Topps Nows because I want to try to earn them eventually.

And the Sosa program was the best value content of the year outside of the color storm my journey missions.
