Missed opportunity with Team Affinity.

I just finished lunch and thought to myself "Maybe I'll go play a conquest map with my Cardinal theme team and newly added Arenado Spotlight card"
Then I asked myself 'Why?". I realize the main point of the game is to have fun and that is definitely my goal when I play but when it comes to just playing some games with my theme team there is just not a lot of incentive after you have earned the Finest Voucher.
I have one more finest mission to finish for XBHs but it is irrelevant because I already have that voucher. Then we have the Clubhouse leaders missions which, for the Cardinals, are so astronomically high (3,630 hits, 475 home runs, 1,949 runs) that I just assume that I will not reach them.
So I am stuck. I'll continue to play with that team because that is what I want to do and what I enjoy doing but there is not much incentive to do so past a certain point. Even earning PXP at this stage does not inch me any further down that path.
Plus it also seems unfair to be penalized because of your teams rich history. I could start today to work on the Nationals and would already be closer to completing their clubhouse leader missions than I am to completing the Cardinals after 3.5 months. I understand their reasoning but the bar height between teams is way to uneven.

I haven't even touched the new content yet due to me being on vacation through the 13th of July, hoping to play tonight when I have some time

@Dolenz_PSN The other fail is the newest drop cards not getting the captain boosts. I get why they don’t want Beltran and the other 99’s to get the boost. I don’t like it, but I get it. Not allowing 96’s is just stupid. Captains are a complete fail this year. It’s truly amazing to me how bad they are after how good they were last year.

I thought last years team captains were by a large margin worse than either 23 or 25. At least the captains in 2025 are mostly good cards. 24 you were stuck with the lame captains you got day 1 all year, and they limited the supply of those for most of the year.
I never did like the gimmick the captains, but I know many did. Switch hitting captain was an awful idea though. I missed the set captains that they didnt start releasing until way too late in the year.

@Teak2112_MLBTS I liked the variety more last year. Yes, the team captains were worse. We couldn’t even get all of them until the end of the cycle. They didn’t scale up until late. There are some positive things about them this year, but as a whole, to me, they are worse. I really liked the cornerstone captains. Inning captains would be nice. Scaling up the captains to match the Jolt with the Color storm would be nice. Scaling up the requirements as content drops would be nice. Actually having a hitting and pitching Captain for each team would be nice. It still feels like they are just throwing things against the wall and have no foresight or vision for the game they make every year.

Well, I jumped on and played two conquest games and logged off.
Hitting is just not fun this year. I am not one that feels like every perfect perfect needs to be a hit, let alone a home run but man it seems like even if you are swinging at balls inside the PCI that unless you get it perfect that it will be a weak grounder or pop up.
I am beginning to understand why people say All Star or above is easier. It seems like even though the PCI is bigger on the easier levels that the actual area you need to make contact in is just as small as the higher difficulty. Sure you'll make contact but there will be no exit velocity.
Couple that with all the CPU pitchers being able to dot the edges of the zone with their secondary pitches and it has been painful.

Yeah it’s frustrating for sure. Older versions of the game were so much more rewarding and it’s not close. This year’s game very much feels like a slot machine simulator dressed up as a baseball game.
DQ is a prime example of that. A mode that had a ton of potential until you realize that you aren’t getting the rewards 50% of the time or greater if you aren’t playing on legend or GOAT.
I’m still trying to figure out who this game is actually geared towards. Largely feels like elite players and/or whales so basically streamers, you tubers and not the average player by a long shot.
I’m fine with those that spend money or are great at the game getting things quicker and easier. However, the divide between them and the average player has never been more deliberate than this year.

That is pretty much how I feel. I have never begrudged better players or players with more time invested getting more. But I do feel like the pendulum has swung too far that direction where the rest of us may not even have a chance.
Diamond Quest is indeed the prime example of that. There is no way I am going through the map to only have it be a coin flip on whether I get a reward.
Going back to the topic I would just like a little more incentive to play with my favorite theme team other than an Icon that seems impossible to reach considering how much more I am struggling to hit this year. More rewards between the Finest Card and #1 Fan icon would be nice. Maybe different versions of that type of icon.

Get 3,026 more hits to get up to 910K (Get Nothing)
Get 382 more HRs to get me to 1,260,000 (Get Nothing)
Get 1,591 more runs to finally get me to 1,610,000 and earn the Icon. -
It will be interesting to see what they do in 2 weeks with all star
Color Storm was great because of how rewarding it was when you did the 500pxp...but now those tracks are bare
They need something up their sleeves big time to make All Star drop be as good

Pretty sure if a team's Jolt card was a pitcher; their Color Storm was a hitter.

With the all star voting going the way it is they are going to be handcuffed team wise as most teams will only have 1 representative. If that is what the All-Star voucher was for then I will have nothing o do but cash in a voucher. Unless they drop a retro All Star as the reward for the voucher.
There will still be programs/packs for the Home Run Derby Players and so you can get teh other 5 or 6 Dodger Players.

No, the Cardinals for example have Jim Edmonds and Victor Scott II as their Jolt and Color Storm players. An example in my opinion of poor planning on the part of the devs as they went in and reduced some of the bonuses for teams that could equip both captains. We will be at least halfway through the season before some theme teams can equip both slots.
