I just think for the average player we will never be able to see players like Alomar Wagner and Mantle especially
That's by design, not everyone is supposed to get them. You either got to put in a lot of time, or a good amount of money.
It will get cheaper as times passes
I appreciate this. I am just a Mets fan who likes certain players and disappointed I will never see them. I might think about spending money on stubs if I knew I could buy the Wagner card for example.
Don't forget about Mets legend: Roberto Alomar.
I had the “pleasure” of seeing his last game Live at Shea as a Met lol
-
One thing you have to remember too. Mantle is their “new” legend. Next year he will be much easier to acquire. They probably spent a ton of money to get the rights to him. That’s why he’s a collection reward.
SDS is the least greedy of all these type of games. I don’t mind spending money on this game.
-
Just my opinion but I find it easier to acquire a better team in madden for a novice player. And I don’t need even Mantle but Wagner and Alomar would be nice to acquire without spending 200 hours or $200

I got Mantle, not through money but through a ton of time.
Didn't buy packs, saved every stub.
- Did everything for free packs and got lucky, pulled around 10 diamonds from free packs (Conquest, events etc).
- Showdown made me a good amount, between the rewards in it + the affinity rewards, it's a great way to make stubs.
- Made WS and sold that
- Got 1000 stars in the 1st inning program and sold everything from that.
- Got 150 event wins and sold everything from that
- Got to gold 60 in xp level and sold everything sellable from that.
- Did some flipping on the market.
Congrats by the way!!

I envy you all who are that successful at this game. I am a ok player and really struggle finding the ability to get the top notch players. In madden I knew for a while I would not be able to buy 94-96 players and this week because game out so long and all players purchaseable I got 5 this week.
It's a marathon, not a sprint. You can still obtain these players just have to put in a little time, I am half way there and I think I have spent 100$ on the game. Selling Program rewards definitely helps and try avoiding packs, you can definitely get to Mantle as an average player without spending big or at all.
-
He will be obtainable for everyone as the year goes on. Most LS diamonds will fall in the 5-10k range.
-
Every time I’m tempted to buy stubs for Mantle I should just put down extra principal on my mortgage. I can easily afford him with my job as well, but I think I’d regret not earning him by playing.

No offense no way I am putting $100 extra towards the game.

Did you pull Trout? Without spending a ton of money or time flipping cards, I would think you would need to pull Trout, Bellinger and maybe another few high diamonds in order to do this. I could be wrong but Trout is over 200k stubs. I think Bellinger, Betts, Yelich, Arenado, Cole, DeGrom, Scherzer (probably missing some others) are all over 50k. That is a lot of stubs. I am almost silver 40 and my only live series diamonds are Yelich and Buehler. Currently sitting on like 75k.
Getting ready to get to 100 event wins. By then I will have around 35 packs to open and 16 ta packs. I'm not even thinking about collections unless I can pull Trout and at least one other high diamond player.

I tend to use the stub sale to stack up stubs, then if any of the big ticket guys drop in price a bit, say if a new SS comes out in a pack or something than I swoop in lol. Saves a bit more money for the bills lol

I think Mantle would cost more like $500 or $600 currently.

Yes agree and again I don’t even want him really I want Wagner and Alomar and Team affinities without having to spend 200 hours or more

Wagner and Alomar will both have better cards later. Cheaper too unless BR rewards.

None taken, it's just entertainment money for me, what I would spend at the bar or going out to dinner I spent on the game.

He was great, but I used him so much I’m burnt out. Enjoying Xavier Edwards.

But that’s what this game is man. You have to either grind it or buy it.
One thing is certain, even if you didn’t flip cards. If you grind all year, by the end of the year, your team will be full of at least most of the best players in the game.
Mantle shouldn’t be easy to acquire. What makes that card the most special is the rarity. That even goes for BR rewards.
Some of us don’t just want good teams. We want teams not like everyone else’s. I have Dwight Evans because I never see him online.
I chase rare cards all year. I love this game for that. If every team was the same, that would be boring.
Mantle is rare and he should be.

My issue is too you cannot buy some of the cards. As I said I might think about buying Wagner If I could get him

I pulled Bellinger, Acuna twice, etc. All the diamond pulls were before they dropped those flash sales and diamonds started to fall. So even guys like Acuna were around 45k.
I did do flipping on the market, but I was making a ton of stubs just playing too. For example, you are at silver 40, at silver 80 (I think it's 80?) there is a diamond equipment choice pack, I pulled and sold the "legendary call" for 35k, at 55 gold there was another one of those and I sold a diamond arm sleeve for 17k. Those kinds of things really add up.
