Hitting Engine/ Glitches

The overall gameplay this year is horrible. So disappointing with how hyped this game was. I’d don’t even want to spend a bunch of time explaining it. Just sucks thought we could have a comeback year.
-
They haven’t updated the gameplay since 2023 and even then it was just a small update.

I’m tired of getting ticked off even playing a rookie CPU game. There’s just no fun this year in this game. Getting close to just moving on. I play this game quite a bit, but I’m not gonna finish the second inning (I’m at around 410k). Had several wheel spins in 1st inning, got the 30k head start, finished all of the programs except egg hunt, did a mini season, continued with Team Affinity. Stat grinds are tedious and not rewarded enough with XP in offline games. I’ve decided I’m just gonna save the latest Spotlight program for inning 3 for the XP. This game has always just been a way to wind down after hard days at work. It’s become too much of a chore, especially considering how inflated Live series diamonds (upper) are, and how the game just hasn’t evolved hardly any in several years. It’s a shame really. I’ve said it before and caved, but I’m just not buying this game again until it evolves. I mistakenly thought it had for this year. It’s gotten worse. Not sure how SDS thought nerfing elevation, nerfing hitting, and having CPU pitchers throw fewer pitches in the zone was gonna be a fun experience. There has to be a huge number of players not completing this inning this time.

As much as we complain about the inconsistent hitting engine, it makes me wonder what the Online Rated community thinks when they're playing with a bunch of players who have PWR, CON, and VIS numbers in the 50s or less. I remember even in '24 in that Marlins Extreme moment that a perfect-perfect from most of their hitters was an out in the shallow outfield lol.

you are submitting tickets for not successful hitting during play vs CPU?

@olis_94_PSN Why would I do that? Nowhere in my comment did I say that. If they cared about that, it would’ve already changed.
-
Amen. Exactly the way I feel this year. I use the game to unwind and now it feels like work for nothing that isn’t really even fun.

The hitting is definitely inconsistent. I hope they address this with a patch or something soon. Had an interesting time yesterday where I was having a harder time in mini seasons on Rookie, then played a CPU game on the same difficulty that was more forgiving.
I think the pitching too might be part of it…? Even low level pitchers are making hard pitches on the edges of the zone and it drives me crazy.
-
There won’t be a patch to gameplay. In my years with the show what I’ve noticed is gameplay is take it or leave it. It’s not going to get patched or changed at all throughout the year. In fact it takes several years
-
There shouldn't be a patch because there's nothing wrong with gameplay

I wish I could understand your compaints and frustration but it really sounds like you guys don't like baseball to me. All of the content grinds for the most part (maybe the exception of Corbin Carroll) have been relatively minimal and there is a ton of content this year. It does feel like they could buff XP a bit that's fair but on the whole there hasn't been much of an issue for me.
If you are finding yourself feeling like you aren't "rewarded" while hitting then really this game isn't for you. Or at the very least you need to take a break. The other night I found myself getting upset so I literally just turned the game off and went to bed. Sometimes that's the most helpful thing for your mental.

People who grind on Rookie don't want realistic baseball. That's not difficult to understand. And it's a valid position. Rookie is supposed to be easy and unrealistic. It's not the place to have to work counts. SDS included Rookie as an option but has done a horrible job of differentiating it from Veteran or even All Star. It was FAR different two iterations ago. Since the ball-fest early last year, it hasn't been the same...
-
@Loyal-Wiglaf_XBL I have to disagree … on
- Rookie is a difficulty setting. The PCI is way bigger over there. It is not „an arcade setting“
- Who said that Rookie should not still be … a baseball game? Like … Swing at strikes, do not swing at balls. Do not swing at pitches you do not like
- Veteran/All-Star are clearly different from Rookie
-
Rookie should never be meatballs down the middle of the plate, this game is never meant to be easy it's called a grind for a reason and if you don't like it then don't play
-
@YOSHI24_XBL yes it’s refreshing to get walks on Rookie sometimes and rewarding to show patience down 0-2 and get the walk. Also nice to have OBP different from AVG cause get walks. Didn’t really get that when played mvp baseball 05. For me anyway.
-
It wouldn’t be so bad but they cranked up all the program requirements and nerfed the xp and exit velocities to increase the grind time.
This is the fault of all those no lifers that bragged about finishing programs in less than an hour and having nothing to do.
Absolutely ruined the game for casual players with jobs, families and lives outside gaming. It’s really dang frustrating when an outlet is ruined for others to unwind from real life stress and pressures.

@TripleH-4481_PSN the only things that are timed are XP paths and MP programs; all the other stuff you can do at your own pace. Some will be early, some late.

Really well said and some great advice.
To me Rookie just means the CPU won't be as good as they are on higher difficulties. But it's still baseball. And part of pitchers being bad is throwing a lot of balls, not just throwing meatballs down the middle. This is part of the reason I never play on Rookie. Veteran plays fine for CPU stat grinds and is still incredibly easy.
-
Interesting discussing in the last post: Is it really about rookie not being easy enough or (and I think it is just that) easy not being easy enough getting xp / something done quicker. If it is the last part, then something is totally wrong (in the thinking process). This is a baseball game and not an „we make it easy for you to get xp fast“-one

@TripleH-4481_PSN There is nothing wrong with Exit Velocities. And almost every program still takes only a couple hours still.
