How many Spotlight cards will we need for April lightning player?

I would hope that the only required ones are the ones you can earn in the programs. There will most likely be an optional collection for the others.
I don't think they have ever required cards from packs to complete a program. They are usually just an optional thing to avoid the program grind

Is there going to be a POTM path or like last year where you just collect cards to get that card?

Nobody knows what they will do.
My guess is a regular 3 card program for the final card to get 91 Lightning Pete Alonso and then a new threads/egg hunt style collection for 91 spotlight Corbin Carroll

Did they say already that it was Pete Alonso, cause it should be Judge, but i know they don’t always give it to who had the best month, although Alonso did have a very good month, Judge was out of this world.

Or they could give it to Judge so that his best card is better than Tatis's best card because it's so ridiculous that they are tied for rating of 92 now. Even as a Red Sox fan, I think that is absurd.

No, but we know its not Judge or Tatis due to their 92 cards already and this card will be likely 91, 92 if we are lucky. They arent going to give either a card that competes with live series
In 2023 the card went to an MLB player of the month with no exceptions, and Alonso was PotM. 2022 didnt follow those rules. Last years game wasnt based on months.
I would say 85% Alonso (best month besides Judge/Tatis) and 14% Carroll (great month and fan favorite). But the fact Carroll is a fan favorite means its more likely they make him a pack card or give him the Santander treatment in a collection
There is also the retro lightning card, which we have no idea if its a past season's card or just a historic April.

I just spent a lot of time the last few days finishing all 4 previous Spotlight programs. I hope I did not do that for Alonso. I'm not saying that he wouldn't be worthy but, honestly, I just don't like the guy.
It won't be Judge or Tatis Jr because I am guessing the first lightning will fall into the power creep and the overall will be roughly the same as their live series.
If they Exclude Judge I kind of would expect Goldy as a Yankees consolation card, not the lightning but in the mix somewhere.
Just throw a Brendan Donovan in there somewhere (5th highest batting average in Mar-April) and let me play to earn him and not have to buy him in a pack and I will be happy.
