Feedback and Suggestions for Future Improvements
-
Dear Sony San Diego Team,
I want to start by expressing my sincere gratitude for the joy your games have brought me and my family over the years. Your game accounts for about 70% of my gaming time, and thanks to your work, I’ve been able to bond with my father through countless nights of battling both others and ourselves.
The purpose of this message is to share some thoughts on areas where I believe the game could be improved in the future.
First, I’d like to talk about graphics. I’m not a graphics designer or programmer, but I know there are more advanced engines available. Currently, player models look as if they’re made of clay, uniforms appear sculpted, and the movement of cloth and textures doesn’t feel natural. The minor league stadiums in career mode are great, but the surroundings look unrealistic. For example, in the recent showcase for High School Days, the mountains in the background looked like something out of Avatar. It’s difficult to understand how the visuals have remained largely unchanged over the past 6–8 years, especially when compared to other sports games like FC 25 and NBA 2K.
Next, I’d like to discuss online gaming, particularly when playing with friends. There’s currently no way to use real MLB teams outside of exhibition matches—we should have the option to play any type of matchup, from spring training to Opening Day or even a World Series game. Franchise mode and March to October also lack multiplayer functionality, preventing me from playing with my dad. Additionally, we still can’t play with minor league teams, which would be a welcome alternative to Diamond Dynasty.
In Road to the Show, one thing that breaks immersion is that our player looks the same age throughout their entire career. With the addition of high school and college experiences, it would make sense for character aging to be reflected more accurately. Another immersion issue is that neither players nor coaches have voice acting, making conversations feel empty and disconnected.
Lastly, I want to address inclusion and diversity. I love that the game has incorporated the Negro Leagues and women in baseball, but I’ve noticed a lack of Spanish-language commentary and menu options. Considering that Hispanic and Latino players make up more than 30% of the major leagues—and that many fans, including my father, primarily speak Spanish—it would be incredible to see better representation in this area.
In conclusion, I love your studio and everything you do for the sport. These suggestions come from a place of passion and loyalty, and I truly believe they would enhance the experience for many players. I hope someone from the team reads this and takes these ideas into consideration.
Sincerely,
A Huge Fan. -
This game sucks so much bugs half my games don’t count. I just won 2 games for them to say the games don’t count and it doesn’t even show them in my records.

Sds should quit making this game and let someone else make it. Same thing year in and year out.

Ummm....I dont think the OP's objective was to slam SDS.

I love the way you worded this. If only everyone else wrote critiques like you. However, there are some things I'd like to go over here:
Online Franchise: Something the community has begged for for years.
The part where you said minor league teams aren't in Diamond Dynasty is confusing to me because you actually can play with minor league teams, and what would it have to do with DD?
RTTS is probably better off without voice acting given voice acting in other games is laughable.
Before we get broadcast crews for other languages, we need a new American booth. Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton are quite frankly terrible. A Joe Davis/John Smoltz would be cool to see, or a reunion with Matty V alongside Buck Martinez this time.
Other than that, it's a good list. -
Dear SDS your content is always good, I understand you can't control what "Legend/retired" players allow you to use their likeness. On that though you do directly control YOUR hitting, pitching, and fielding mechanics. This year we were promised that "fielding" would matter. Yet still we see multiple times were a diamond fielder does the stuck in mud, confused if they are on a baseball field animation or a 99 spd 99 reaction OF somehow drops a fly ball. But in the next 1/2 inning a common fielder is diving across the infield and throwing out a 99spd hitter or a bronze OF is making a diving okay to stop a gap shot. This is completely reverse of YOUR statements all year. This is controlled by your rng and needs worked on. Next hitting is so RNG based it's a joke. We've all seen the BS pci shrinking on sliders away or breaking balls. But what about the randomness on squared good timing. I've seen and had the ball just look dead with 100+ power and the feed back clearly being good but acting like it was very late. You promised us a crisp any player regardless of power can hit HR with perfect swings. This also has not been the case. Finally your pitching is broken and you know it. A 100% .01 pitch will either be a dot or go down the middle or completely miss the whole screen. You know this is happening you have commented on it and have done nothing to fix these things. If you want this game to survive and become an Esport as you have suggested then crisp quality gameplay needs to be your focus. Yes the 70% of random players are here so they can add Babe Ruth and hit without trying. But the players who are playing on All-star and above want quality gameplay. They want to be rewarded for doing good, not see a common fielder does the 2 step catch on a perfect perfect that in real life is 99% of the time a gap shot. Please rework and revise your gameplay engines or your game is going to continue to collapse.

I gotta agree. Gameplay should be no. 1. If SDS takes a year off per se and gives us a game similar to this year next year so they can rework the game engine, I’ll take it. Also it’s kind of head scratching that SDS removed created stadiums from Ranked, where you couldn’t use them in the first place, yet you can still actually use them in Play vs Friends and offline.
