Alright, let’s cut to the chase. If MLB The Show 25 wants to bring back players like me, it’s time to focus on the future and stop catering to the past. That means next-gen only.

    Co-Op Everything
Co-op should be the foundation of this game. Let us:

    • Grind Ranked Seasons with friends.
    • Draft and play Battle Royale together.
    • Compete in Events as a team.
    • Dive into Offline Co-Op:
      • Conquest with a buddy.
      • Mini-Seasons as a squad.
      • Other modes where we can grind rewards and XP together.

Let us earn Parallel XP in co-op, rank up cards, and grind rewards with friends. Baseball is a team sport—let us enjoy it that way.

    Next-Gen Only
It’s time to move on from PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

    • The older hardware holds the game back.
    • We want a true next-gen MLB The Show with better graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and enhanced features.
    • If Switch players need a version, give them a dumbed-down standalone game. But don’t compromise the main game for outdated tech.

This franchise should showcase the full power of modern consoles.

    A Beta Is Essential
We need a beta for MLB The Show 25. No more radio silence, no more dropping the game with zero trailers and zero information like 24. A beta would:

    • Prove that San Diego Studio is listening.
    • Let us see the changes and improvements before committing our money.
    • Show the community they care about making a better game, not just rehashing the same formula.

Fresh Card Art and Innovative Ideas
Let’s talk about the card art and player concepts. I’ll start by saying the card art in MLB The Show 24 was phenomenal. The designs were sleek, creative, and a step in the right direction. Let’s keep that going—but we need to move beyond the tired, old Topps Now cards. Unless they’re for live series, it’s time to retire them.

What I want is unique, innovative cards. Think outside the box:

    • I didn’t personally like the out-of-position players, but I loved the fact that it was different. It was something we hadn’t seen before. More of that!
    • Make cards for everything—hypothetical matchups, special moments in history, or even alternate reality cards. Get creative!
    • Introduce cards with fun, fresh themes that reflect a unique story, achievement, or even what-if scenarios.

The point is, keep things fresh and exciting. The same old formulas for card releases are getting stale. Every card should feel like something we want to earn, not just another filler.

    Why I’m Still Hesitant
The removal of sets and seasons is a huge step in the right direction—it’s honestly exciting. But let’s be real, that alone isn’t enough. I’ve bought every Show since 2014, and I’m seriously considering skipping 25 unless:

    • We get new modes that aren’t stale.
    • Card art, unique player versions, and innovative ideas (like out-of-position players) keep things interesting.
    • More Legends and creative concepts keep us engaged.

    Make It Fun Again
MLB The Show 25 has so much potential, but it’s time to focus on the players. Let us grind, compete, and enjoy the game with our friends, on modern consoles, with transparency about what we’re buying.

What do you all think? I’d love to hear everyone’s opinion on this.

For every "good idea" you like someone else is going to complain. I liked incognito, and kaiju but lots of folks completely trashed them .

@sbchamps17_NSW When did I mention h2h with friends? Also, my question is... Did you actually read the post or immediately jump to conclusions so there was something for you to complain about? People like you don't add anything to constructive conversations.

Grinding rank seasons with friends, AKA helping complete the program and make WS is cheating unless you do CO-OP

Card art, unique player versions, and innovative ideas (like out-of-position players) keep things interesting.
More Legends and creative concepts keep us engaged.

    Sorry to see you go.

Co-Op Everything - I got no problem with that but as I understand it Co-Op has issues that probably need to be resolved in the current modes before they expand it.

Next-Gen Only - Several reasons this is very unlikely. As of May of last year 50% of Sony's monthly active users were still on the PS4. It's easy for you or I to say abandon them but a little harder for a company to say let's eliminate roughly half of our potential customers.

Also, as far as we know, MLB forced SDS to release on the other consoles as part of their license deal. Based on that the decision may not rest entirely with Sony or SDS.

A Beta Is Essential - Sounds like you want a preview more than a Beta. With roughly 2 months to go before release any beta we would get would be strictly for tweaking hitting or pitching or testing network. Betas have always been very restrictive in what they allow the testers to do.

Fresh Card Art and Innovative Ideas - As long as they are paying Topps for a license to use their cards expect them to use Topps artwork on Topps Now cards. Also, one of the complaints about sets and seasons is that we wound up with too many versions of some players. Wouldn't hypothetical cards just add more?

Why I’m Still Hesitant - What new modes? I am not expecting any. I feel like, in the end, every mode boils down to Hitting, Pitching and Fielding how do they make that not stale? We would all love new legends in addition to the ones we already have but it seems like for every new one we get that we lose one. My guess is that this is a budget issue.

I feel like SDS is pretty transparent leading up to release, although they do have a tendency to show everything in the absolute best light and the recorded videos instead of true live streams muddy the water some. We get multiple videos and streams about new features and changes. If you don't want to tricked into buying it then wait a few days and let people who get the head start from expensive editions share videos and streams and then make your decision.

It's a nice wish list for sure, but I would not be getting my hopes up too high.

I’d also like a full lineup/ pitching staff in ranked Co-op. Maybe let me use my guys I bring any spot in the batting order and I still hit with them. If p1 wants to hit 1,2,3 then the other 2 can alternate if there’s 3 people on the team.

There should be a way to track pitching energy for Co-op too. Facing the same stater every game gets a little stale

I'm shifting more toward Online Rated in '25. I'll still play some DD but I'm not gonna complete all the programs / collections like I've tried to these past two years. I just want to play with a few legends and that's it. The grind just becomes brain rot. I want to do more actual playing.

If you want a game out by Opening Day, the time for a Beta is long since past. There's no time to set one up, run it, analyze the results, and then put changes into practice.

If co-op is the main focus, I am out.
Every play style should have access to the same cards and have robust content available.

I would support co-op being given an expanded role however, I would have no problem with a 3 pillar set up of offline/online/co-op. Just don't lock exclusive cards behind any of them, that is a prime example of your catering to the past.

Stop saying 'we' though. I couldn't care less about a next gen version, game still looks fine to me. I wouldn't mind the upgrade but it wouldn't even make my top 25 list of upgrades I would like to see.

I love everything you said. I dont play Co-Op, i'm more of a lone wolf. But i totally get it.
I'd love to go next gen only.....love it. but unfortunately i dont see this happening. Card Art i dont care as much. I just dont need 57 99 Aaron Judges. I hope they bring the slow creep back as they did in '21. I'd also love to see the Dashboarders really punished. Too much of it. Also too many racist or ignorant team names that need to be policed way better. One final thing. They got rid of the CAP player this year great, now get rid of the Created Stadium in online ranked and BR. Save it for grinding or events.

    🙂
