Season 2 review

I stopped playing online completely this season due to increased focus on being good at hitting for fast program completion, so this would be from an offline perspective
One thing that they did especially well was adjust both the sets of season bosses. XP was well balanced and simply completing all the offline content more or less finishes the track. No need for grinding or playing online. Collection was also friendlier I felt.
TA Cycle 1: F
The initial cards were unthemed slop. I dont mind 'mid' players at all, but we shouldnt be having recycled cards of failed prospects. Id even prefer just going with a year and give us the Topps cards of existing players
The release of cards was a tiny trickle throughout the season so we were left with core, ls, and that uninspiring slop for far too long.
I stopped playing the game for most of this cycle.TA Cycle 2: A-
So much better. AS Collection was fun, lots of players to use, and finally they got us the first TA cards FAST instead of the long grind in all of the other TA drops to get the initial cards (they all tend to move pretty quickly once you start getting the bosses). On top of this we had conquest and mini seasons both awarding cards. Hall of Fame series was a nice topper. Only things keeping this from an A is I feel the All Star program should have been the long program we have been missing all year, plenty of unused cards they didnt give us (especially relievers whicha re always in low supply). Also, the rewards for the ms should have been higher diamonds. Still, these are nitpicks in what has easily been the highpoint of the yearTA cycle 3: C
What a mixed bag. The action figure series (and collection) was cool, sadly it was a grind again to get the first bosses (but as usual moved real fast once you get the bosses). Some good variety in programs, I liked the moments as a change of pace. Still missing a long program though. Where the season gets hurt a lot is its lack of offline content. No new miniseason, and a grand total of 3 conquest maps (the number we used to get with TA alone...). Run it back Showdown exists but cant use your actual cards in it (directly anyway), but I did raise the score from a C- for it. In the end the dog conquest along with the reduced season collection requirements makes me not miss the recap as much as I had thought.Im looking forward to Season 3. Two 6 week cycles sounds about right, extreme should give us our first long program this year, and playoffs are coming

I won't go into a full review but will say that I was able to collect enough S2 cards (200) to get the first Pack and choose Bob Gibson at 200 cards. In comparison, I just yesterday bout the eight cheapest S1 cards I could find so that I could get Lou Brock from the S1 collection at 230 cards.
I made it to 835K on the Reward path and even if I don't make it to the boss pack (I was really hoping for Double XP the final weekend) I still progressed further this season.
Last season I finished 14 of 15 of the Other programs.
S2 I have finished 19 of 24 so there was quite a few more programs. So from my perspective they were trending in a better direction. It will be interesting to see how the split Season 3 works out. I will say though that even though I am probably averaging the same amount of playtime as always this is the first year that I have gotten this far into the season and not earned a single Boss card from the main programs.

Shorter S2 review: Awful until the AS content, pretty good since.
