Draft picks
-
I'm in franchise mode. I've done the draft. I'm in September but I still cannot find where my draft picks have gone to. Are they in the minors or MLB roster? I don't see them on any rosters but I've signed them and I've drafted them unless I'm missing something

After you sign your draftees, they won't appear on your roster until the next season

This is where the game code gets it a bit wrong. Normally, draft picks start off their first year in rookie ball or class A. However, a few collegiate draft picks can start in AA, AAA, and once in a blue moon, actually join the MLB team right after the draft. Of course, that ultimate move requires putting that draftee on your 40-man roster and that means removing a player who was on that roster. This normally involves putting that player on the waiver wire, another reason it's rarely done.
The game code puts your draft picks below class AA, which is why they don't appear on your roster in Franchise, which only goes down to your high A "team," but isn't even modeled in the game. Since you are limited to just 93 players total on your roster, and you MLB, AAA, and AA clubs are normally limited to 26 players, it means there are only a max of 15 players in your "Class A team," which again isn't a team, but instead an arbitrary repository where your excess players are kept.
Truth is, each MLB team has two Class A affiliates (high A and low A), and each have 26 man rosters. Teams also have rookie league teams. These are more or less scrimmage leagues akin to spring training setups where games are played for training and evaluation purposes and the results of the game aren't really important.
If Franchise were set up with two Class A teams added to the current AA and AAA teams, then each MLB franchise would have a total roster size of 130 players -- 26 each at MLB, AAA, AA, high A, and low A. For whatever reason, SDS chose to model the game with half the MiLB teams missing and decided on 93 players for each roster just to have enough filler material to manage the AA team.
If the game was fully modeled, your draft picks would be assigned to low A by default, and you would have to release players from your low A team to keep the roster size at 26. Instead, SDS modeled the draft where the players go into some void and next year are in your 93 player roster, assigned by default to A level.
