Better than last year, but there’s still something to be desired.

I’m just a franchise mode guy, and I do like hitting much more than last year. But I do believe there are still some problems with it. To me, the weak hits are good to an extent, but I do think they may occur too often. And on the other hand, there just seem to be too many times when you make very good to great timing on a swing or are even just early on pitches that get quite a bit of the plate and are in the upper half of the zone (or even right down the middle), only to have the result be weak contact or even missing the ball altogether. Even if you have a great hitter up against a guy who has very poor ratings for hits/9 and HR/9. I recently made very good timing on a swing with Ohtani (just a little earlier than perfect perfect but still with plenty of green between the bat and the yellow) against Hunter Brown of Houston (who has bad ratings in hits/9 and HR/9). To be very specific, the pitch was at the bottom left corner of the square that is up and in for Ohtani. On top of that, I was using power swing. And all it was was an absolute dud of a groundball to the right side of the infield. Could’ve very, very easily been a three-run bomb instead of a fielder’s choice.

I use the simulation gamestyle too.

And I don’t think I’m asking for arcade results either. Getting a good result by having good controller input from a great hitter against a considerably bad pitcher is not arcade results.
I just wish SDS would work on this if it can. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen something like this either. And I don’t think saying “just learn zone hitting” is necessarily the fix either. Not everyone can just learn zone. It’s just not that easy. It takes skill to do that.

I take a lot more enjoyment out of hard hit balls and bombs than weak hits, and I believe many other people would say the same. Even if that meant if I’d have a slight increase in runs allowed and more hard hits against on hitter’s pitches. When I get a weak hit after being late or early, I’m not really thinking, “Oh, that felt great.” I’m thinking, “You got fortunate.”

This could also provide more opportunities for diving catches and great defensive plays.
