How SDS Has Become Disconnected from the MLB The Show Community

Wow now your on his side, just because I don't have a problem with the game doesn't mean you can bad mouth me. That's very rude. I stated what my only problem with the game was in my last post which was not being able to play at launch because of the Nintendo switch crashes

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN I am out of likes for the day, BJ otherwise I'd like your post
"Well actually"

Well, we made it pretty far before the nonsense started. It was a fun discussion prior to that. Thanks to everyone who positively contributed.
-
@sbchamps17_NSW Thankfully I was able to play at launch for the most part but the freezing was straight up atrocious.
-
@BadaBing_0_PSN Yeah sorry. Figured
-
@AdeptOfMemory_PSN You literally tried to fight 4 different people in this thread LOL

@Sarge1387 League of Legends has been the same game since 2009.
You're not wrong, but just because LoL is working doesn't mean the devs and coders with SDS could get theirs to work. So it's still a very feasible issue that could be occurring here, that's all. NHL when it was cross gen(albeit PS to PS and XB to XB) was the dog's breakfast until they went cross platform current gen to current gen.

Bumping this up one more time
-
Sports games are the new gacha games. The fact EA/2K/SDS never even address the majority of there problems is incredibly telling and sad
-
@BadaBing_0_PSN SDS: yeah, but.... have you seen the new 40k stub packs!!!! We're raking in dough!!!!! You thought we cared about the players???
-
I would love it if SDS would come out and say "OK. We know you guys aren't loving this. But, we're taking all this extra money and investing in a true next-gen experience, better servers, etc."
Right now, it just feels like a hollow cash-grab. Yes, this game is still pretty friendly to those us of that don't buy packs, but some clarity would be nice.

By far the most likely scenario:
Sony is taking the microtransaction money and putting it to other Sony entities and leaving SDS with a team too small to keep up with developing and running a game on multiple generations and platforms -

If there are then yes I could believe this kind of thing but Sony does so well with other games for the most part, SDS seems to me like the under performing employee but they still turn a profit so no need to put money into it. Just let it ride out their employment agreement.
It feels more like Sony is collecting as much as of a check as they can out of the stubs and base sales, not spending money on improvement so when when employment contracts expire and upper management resigns the game is just done. Happens alot actually. Games just end. I think that's the stage of The Show. -
That could definitely be the case but if so another developer will start making baseball games. So, in the end it could be a good thing if this series refuses to improve then it’s time to get out of the way and let someone new take a shot. Unfortunately, unless microtransactions are abolished the future of all sports games stinks.
-
It almost feels like this is the final year for SDS. They are all on cruise control. I know they signed a multi-year contract extension with MLB in 2019 but I couldn't find anything on the actual duration of that extension. I hope I'm wrong because if EA or 2K take over it'll be way worse.

Indeed. Micro transactions have ruined ALL games. I will admit some do it very well and in rare cases it's rather tasteful. In most, it's horrible and predatory.

Destiny 2

@Teak2112_MLBTS maybe....I stopped after Taken King which was simply amazing imo. They still have a strong dev team and community to my knowledge ie Bungie. Maybe? But I can see that.
-
The Naughty Dog multi player games had some atrocious microtransactions in their multiplayer modes as well
I believe GT7 had microtransaction issues but not sure if that was overblown or not
-
A bit farther into the past, but Sony's handling of the Everquest franchise when microtransactions first became 'popular' was horrid, and they had the zombie game as well
