switch hitting captain
-
I use this team but agree it has ruined the game. I think the easy way out is to NOT ALLOW Season 1 Captains to be “wild-carded” in Season 2.
-
@NWOStunna That completely defeats the purpose of a wild card. There aren’t many good core switch hitters, so it’s not going to be that usable at least to start season 2 anyway.
-
@GoozeFn … he said it may be the easiest … You are right, at the beginning he is not that powerful, but what about the next packs/programs. We got some Switch-hitters left in the tank …
Maybe another solution would be to slightly nerf the boost AND put out some awesome others (S2-Cornerstone maybe? )But back to my observation: I played 4 games since my first post (besides the Bots). Nobody had Santana (I played him 4 times though)
-
The question you need to ask is:
Will a S1 Captain boost S2 cards?
-
Anyone who can’t hit same side pitching is irrelevant.
-
@YOSHI24 His boost is already nerfed comparatively. I agree that we need more captains people want to use. I have a feeling the Ortiz captain will be more popular at the start of season 2.
-
@YeahBruv412 Enjoying this boost doesn’t mean you can’t hit same side pitching. Trying to put people down doesn’t strengthen your opinion.
-
All captains should be gone. You can't have team captains when the Yankees have 40+ legend cards and other teams have less than 15.
This being said, I am also running the switch team. If you aren't than you are at an extreme disadvantage every game.
I will also say that people didn't complain about the buxton meta. Probably because the buxton team was cheap and the best switch hitters are expensive.
-
@GoozeFn Yeah, I know but still it is a (bad) meta …
@go4stros25 while you mentioned Buxton … To me, the difference is that the Santana boost does not have a disadvantage on its own.
Buxton had low vision … Arenado had low speed. Ortiz has „only 2000“…. Being a switch hitter is an advantage. It is all about the meta
-
@GoozeFn Not putting people down, Just stating a fact…If you would take Chili Davis over Willie Mays or Larry Walker just because he is a switch hitter then you are 100% saying that you can’t hit same side pitching. There is NO other reason.
Edit…I re read my comment and I was totally putting them down. You’re right….But I don’t care, I’m still right.
-
I hope they don’t allow the season 1 captains to be wild carded, if they do there really isn’t a reason for sets and seasons, because you’ll keep a year long meta with the switch hitting team and only those cards will be really sought after.
-
this is still the worst thing in this game, on top of how the community utterly can't function without boosts.
-
@chucky97___ There shouldn't be two captains. That's just my opinion but I have a feeling two captains is simply too much in some cases. Or have games modes that captains can't be enabled. But that won't happen nor will the get rid of captains. It's too core to the game at this point
-
@chucky97___ Agree on the switch-hitting-topic but what was that about the community? Is there an unwritten rule that captains should not be used?
-
@YOSHI24 For some reason half of the community just doesn't like captains. It's not that you can't or shouldn't use them but that SDS shouldn't have added them.
-
I think the team core Captains are fine, its the S1 Captains they released but more specifically the Santana card. It's out of control at this point
-
I’d be ok if S1 captains only work in S1 and then again when all cards become available.
I also think that the buffs they provide should also come with a nerf for something else, or potentially provide a buff to your opponent to counter your boost.
Not a guaranteed buff, but more like a DnD 1:5 chance to block or something to that effect.

@chucky97___ said in switch hitting captain:
@GoozeFn said in switch hitting captain:
@chucky97___ They need more captains that people want to use. That’s the solution, not taking away something fun in a year with little fun to be had.
It caters to casual players, there is 0 thought process when it comes to a switch hitting team, I played a guy in Ranked on hof that pinch hit a Bronze switch hitter for a diamond. Learn how to hit lefty lefty or righty righty, there is nothing fun about 60 foul balls by the 5th on both ends. The switch hitting team hurts gameplay.
The casuals dont use the "meta". The casuals are the people using cards that they like.
If you made it to HOF difficulty in Ranked, you were playing a sweatsock. Casuals don't make it that far.

@dmc04005 lmao you ain't getting that kind of development care and attention from SDS. But I LOVE your approach and will follow you now lol
Edit: seriously you're the first person who knows how games work I've seen in these forums. Thank you and you should keep posting
