switch hitting captain

I agree with this in relation to fouls balls. I don't think having the switch-hitting captain is necessarily bad but with how ridiculous the foul ball problem is this year, this boost makes it even worse. If they had fixed foul balls this boost would still be used a lot but I don't think it would really negatively impact the game.

I use this, a lot use this, its the meta, I understand that, I also know this is a huge problem, With the foul ball frequency in this game, switch hitting theme teams are way to powerful, I'm getting to a point where I'm starting to hate captains in this game. The player base is becoming boost dependent, I think theme teams can work, if done the right way. Making one captain boost far and away better than any other boost in the game is so bad for game play. Again, I use this boost because I will not be at a disadvantage in ranked, but my goodness this boost doesn't need to be a thing I cant stress it enough. This is bad for the game.
Yes i agree i hate seeing the switch hitter captain which seems every other game. I've not played alot of ranked yet just finishing up this event, but between event and ranked it's almost every game you see it. Switch Hitter Cpt has really killed lineup diversity.
I don't use use it, don't even own the card. I use the Cubs Captain Cards Yu and Kyle regardless.

The Ortiz captain is cool but I don’t like how some cards don’t apply. For example, Steve Finley played during the years specified but he doesn’t get the boost cuz the card year doesn’t fall in said category. In my opinion, that’s dumb!

@YeahBruv412 More fun ways to build teams is a good thing.
-
@chucky97___ Sounds like foul balls are the problem, not captains.
-
@GoozeFn foul balls with boosted switch hitter that constantly have advantage creates absolute misery to pitch to.

There is 0 reason to use other captains when one captains boost are WAY better than other captain boosts, Its mlb 23 durability boost all over again.
-
@chucky97___ They need more captains that people want to use. That’s the solution, not taking away something fun in a year with little fun to be had.

It caters to casual players, there is 0 thought process when it comes to a switch hitting team, I played a guy in Ranked on hof that pinch hit a Bronze switch hitter for a diamond. Learn how to hit lefty lefty or righty righty, there is nothing fun about 60 foul balls by the 5th on both ends. The switch hitting team hurts gameplay.
-
@chucky97___ Again, your complaint is about foul balls. That’s the problem.
-
@GoozeFn Foul balls combated with a switch hitting boost ( I use it to) Do you not understand or comprehend that this boost just caters to players that swing at everything?
-
I have Santana and Ortiz ready to rock, when I start my ranked grind on the week-end. I will alter between them after every loss, because I had going with the same team over and over.
I think, they did not want to make the boost meta (look at the boost it gives). But, they did … on the other hand … or on the bright side: People will have to choose with S2, if they want to make Jimmy or Santana their wildcard. That is definitely better than last year … but we will see how this will play out -
@YOSHI24 you get 4 wild card spots in S2.

I know but not from the start … maybe with TA2-2?
I am not sure, what people are going to do, when the good Griffeys, Mantles, Aarons, Jeters arrive (yes, I know Micky is a Swith-Hitter ) -

Agreed. SDS with this switch hitter cpt took strategy away from baseball. No more bringing in a lefty out of the bullpen to face that left handed hitter, or vice-versa. Just stinks .
-
I go back and forth between Santana and Kershaw. I enjoy hitting with lefties. I’m waaay better hitting lefty/lefty than I am Right/right. I get bored using the same cards game in and game out. I’m extremely glad we have all the options that we do.
-
Pretty sure my W-L is better playing without a captain boost. I've tried with Santana and resold him about three times.
-
I use this team but agree it has ruined the game. I think the easy way out is to NOT ALLOW Season 1 Captains to be “wild-carded” in Season 2.
-
@NWOStunna That completely defeats the purpose of a wild card. There aren’t many good core switch hitters, so it’s not going to be that usable at least to start season 2 anyway.
-
@GoozeFn … he said it may be the easiest … You are right, at the beginning he is not that powerful, but what about the next packs/programs. We got some Switch-hitters left in the tank …
Maybe another solution would be to slightly nerf the boost AND put out some awesome others (S2-Cornerstone maybe? )But back to my observation: I played 4 games since my first post (besides the Bots). Nobody had Santana (I played him 4 times though)
