I have yet to see a single prompt to call-up a player

What is up with that?
In my White Sox M2O, I was waiting until the Trade Deadline to call up Michael Kopech or Dylan Cease. Finally, I just gave up and traded for Charlie Morton.
Then in my Oakland A's one, I was hoping to send down Daniel Mengden (and his ungodly long wind-up & delivery) for Paul Blackburn or preferably A.J. Puk. Also was hoping I could call up Jorge Mateo to get some speed on my bench but I had to wait until September for him to be added to the roster and of course, he was sent back down when the playoffs started.
Next year, if they insist on sticking with CPU prompts to call-up players and make trades, they should at least let you set your 25-man roster for the playoffs. I'm rolling with the most redundant players on my bench in my A's M2O with Stephen Piscotty, Robbie Grossman, Mark Canha, Austin Allen/Sean Murphy and Tony Kemp.
I don't mind Austin Allen or Sean Murphy at all. They make for an excellent platoon and Murphy is a great late-inning defensive sub at catcher. However, why do I need Grossman, Canha, and Piscotty and Tony Kemp!? Would much rather DFA Piscotty and Tony Kemp and call-up Franklin Barretto and Jorge Mateo.

Is there some way to help trigger a call-up more often? Anyone know?

they should add manual roster control for call ups

When I used the Astros I tried something. Korey Lee was in AAA and a 77 A potential with solid attributes. so on players to shop i put Maldanado, Garrett Stubbs, and one if their A Potential guys that wasn't close to Majors. also the 3rd catcher that starts on the roster. I did not put C as positional need i targeted who I wanted Yelich, Kruger, Taylor Roger, and another SP.
ended up trading 2 of the three catchers that were on the 40 man roster that I shopped. And BOOM Korey Lee called up and ended up 87 overall A potential and I got Yelich, Roger's, and Kluber

I'm currently in season with the White Sox and the Twins.
I have done this for the White Sox I need SP Keuchal is awful and others men only Giolito solid. Go Gonzalez yuk
Pen is pretty stout. Already traded for Hader.
But I listed the 2B Garcia to shop and Dylan Cesse A SP prospect only 63 overall.
wanting Madrigal and Kopechto be called up.

I played M20 with the Twins and i got the option to call up SP Randy Dobnak. Got to replace Pineda
-
I got the option to call up JD Davis the other day, but i was like 'I didn't know he was sent down!'
Of course, i get a player lock game with him right away. -
I've played M2O for 3 teams now, only got a Call-up on the first play through. It was a pitcher and I then had to throw every pitch the first game he got called up until I got pulled in like the 8th...
I'll never accept to call up a pitcher again I don't care if he's the next Cy Young

Depends on the team you have and difficulty. With the Twins SP Balsovcic was 72 A Potential and Dobnak 74 B potential. Twins SPs after Berrios, Mazda and Odorizzi are horrible. Pineda 73 D with three pitches and a 39 yr old Rich Hill. Twins offense was pretty set though I did get offered Freddie Freeman and could pass it up.
They prompted Balsovecic in May maybe...first start vs Yankees pitched 9 innings 3 hit shutout with 12 ks. He ended up being an 84 Overall. Now have 4 very solid starters vs Astros ALCS... -
