legends/old players and 7 different versions of the same guy

@BigBadBosc44 I addressed this in my list of things wrong with the game that I posted. Specifically called then out on this exact thing. I think they just expect us to forget the cards we used to play with for a whole year when we didn't have seasons haha.

The Show has lost a few big ones over the last couple years, but for the most part they do a good job when it comes to the superstar names.
Where they fall short in my opinion is the lack of depth when it comes to more mid-tier players from different eras.
The Seasons/Sets model over the last two games has really exposed the need for way more Legends. Recycling the same names several times throughout the game cycle gets old very fast. By the time you get that seventh Johnny Bench it kinda of loses its luster.

The short answer...profit margins. 2024 version of The Show is a money grab or at least a weak attempt at one.

Player likeness licenses cost money. Even it is only $5k-$25k a player, it adds up. Plus, SDS isn't going to address if the player/family you are interested in doesn't want to be in the game or sold the rights to someone else.

@BigBadBosc44
I believe Lenny D has a troubled past so he will not be in the game.
-
yes dykstra is in prison lol and Albert Belle peed on a cop but the 2k players beat their wives and girlfriends and they are still in the game, the point is whatever the dollar amount may be they should invest it people will pay to use these players. there is 150 years of baseball history to go thru. They should have some constantly contact these people/estates and negotiating. Instead we get 7 versions of Paul Konerko

@fellspointguy How much do you think they paid for Toni Stone?
Even the most avid baseball fanatics had no idea who she was or even cared. Yet they probably shelled out a lot of money for her name. And we all know the only reason they did it was to meet the PC points they would get from the media: "OMG!!!! Women in MLB The Show! How amazing this should definitely make the game better and bring in more attention and sales!" Loud wet farting noises. No one cared. They looked stupid because the game literally got worse and they where hyping women in the MLB as if they could really make it in real life.
Oh and I'm not forgetting about the checks they give Jeter to make a 3 second take in a 16 second commercial that's usually gets cut short between innings of real life games. SDS is a joke and they clearly don't know how to use their money for these listening rights.
That's a weak excuse considering how much money they make from sponsorships, the MLB in general, and stub sales. You mean to tell me they can get Toni Stone, the legend, the myth, literally everyone goes or sleep thinking "man Toni was the best of the best......" But they can't pay rights for say......Rusty Greer? GTFO here. The only way I believe that is if these players are rejecting SDS on a moral principle. Which, quite frankly, is very believable because many baseball players have a conscience and SDS greedies don't.
Nah. Get that nonsense out of here. They got the money. -

Nah. Get that nonsense out of here. They got the money.it's impressive you're still at this gimmick, give it a rest brother, the game is chalked this year, they're already working on 25.

no way, I like this lol. I can probably go on listing 2 players everyday for years. Baseball has a long rich history and it can be tapped in to and even profitable. I am available for hire to assist in it as well if sds wants it done right lol. But the good thing is you are not required to be a part of it. You can give viewing the thread a rest brother.
