Show Classics Debate: Lazy or Fun Throwback?
-
I am kind of torn on the Classics release. On one hand, it seems kind of lazy to just re-release old cards, on top of the fact we likely won't be able to earn them this time around. On the other hand, they are some of the more memorable cards of the past few games and will be fun to run it back with (minus that Edward Cabrera). What do you all think?
-
I think it would've been a great idea for a program. If it was a program it would be a lot of fun.
But it's a pack in the store, so it comes across completely different.
-
It is all speculation until 3pm est but my guess is they release this pack every single week with all the cards from the past iterations of The Show. If you noticed in the screenshot this is "Pack 1". If this was a weekly program for all the recycled cards then that would be amazing but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be that.
-
It's both lazy and fun. It's smart on their end because it's basically like releasing content without having to do any work to create any content. But it's easy to feel like you're just being given something that was taken from you, and you're supposed to be grateful.
-
Not lazy at all we have had show classics for a few years now, they just get put under the corresponding series not under the classics series.
What's lazy is considering choice packs as content with no corresponding task to go with it.
-
@CDNMoneyMaker93 Gotta disagree there. The entire game is a lazy, phoned-in monetization pit. The 'content' this year is primarily packs, with token programs thrown in (with worse cards than are in the packs).
-
@CDNMoneyMaker93 We don't necessarily know for sure that is the case here. There could be a program. We will know in 1 hour and 36 mins.

There SHOULD be worse cards for free than paid. Could there be a better balance to it? Absolutely but the best cards (massively subjective to an individual) should come at a price.
-
@aaronjw76 While not disagreeing with that. If this is the case the mode and game should be free to play then.
-
If they would just put these packs in program where you could earn a pack instead of just buying, this would all be mute.

I mean this will be a subjective pov, I am enjoying the game as I play all modes so I have lots to do, but I can appreciate where you are coming from
I am really disappointed in how the packs keep rolling out and no way to earn one of them. I'm not asking for free hand out but a something that requires a time investment to earn a pack is not unreasonable

And who pays the licensing fees for the players associated with the cards you want for free?

@aaronjw76 Major League Baseball

I think these old art styles are often hideous (the 42 is neat though). I actually hate using those ugly future stars in my lineups.
-
-
@CDNMoneyMaker93 No argument there.
The packs will probably be in programs or conquest at some point, when they are outdated and largely useless outside of binder fodder.
-
@hunchoputt 100% laziness. This should have been a program, not another waste of a pack
-
@xxfrystealerxx kinda what I am leaning towards. If you built a fun program around it with throwback events and moments I could get behind that

And thats the biggest problem in the game right now. A ton of packs to buy yet they limit our way to earn stubs by doing ridiculous [censored] like lowering the per game payout, making mini seasons championships a one time bonus etc. Collections last year required 260 or so cards to COMPLETE and they gave us a ton of ways to earn at least most of those cards. Sets 1-3, i was a few cards short of completing but at least i got the first 2 choice packs without spending a dime.
As of now, we need 280 cards just to get the first pack. Its not even gonna be possible to get there without buying stubs. Im a few cards short of Aurilia right now and theres not nearly enough content to for me to get another 160 cards before season 2.

Yep. Packs upon packs, but The Great Stub Depression of 2024. SDS is palpably scummy this year.
Can't WAIT for NCAA 24. I hope EA is observing this and taking notes....hell, at least they improved their franchise mode after community outcry.
