How do Custom Teams work in MTO?

I haven't played MTO in a few years and I was pleasantly surprised they added created teams to do your season with.
Looks like I can't just copy over my DD team logo/uniforms over so I have to create them but still pretty cool.
But how do the rosters work? Will I get generic players for my custom team? or do I take place of an existing team and use their rosters?

You just choose a team and then design your details, logos, etc. It lets you save the custom team, so you could create several different ones and just quickly choose later on. You keep the roster of the team you're "replacing" but they just have the team name, uniforms, etc. in games. So the changes are only aesthetic.

Forgot to mention...yes it's just like creating a Diamond Dynasty team but you just have the roster of the team you chose.
